HARVEST DEVELOPMENT
BRINGING FARMHOUSE STYLE TO THE MODERN AGE
This project is a multi-family housing development designed as an extension to an existing single family developed community in Argyle, Tx. This multi-family development consists of 25 structures including multi unit garden style, townhomes, a fitness facility and a leasing/amenity space. The full Harvest development pulls its design inspiration from the 142 year old original farmhouse, located on the property, that now serves as a coffee shop for its residents. The rich history has not been lost and it can be seen throughout the facades of our development. This project is currently in permitting and was developed by the hands of a two person team from design development through construction documentation.

THE TOWNHOMES
Two story townhomes located in building type VI of the developments VII building types. The six unit structure includes three unit mixes, ranging from one to three bedrooms with private garages. Elevation changes along with board and batten to be brick material choices and a gable roof line aid in bringing farmhouse style to the 21st century.

GREEN ERA NURTURING THE SOUTH SIDE OF CHICAGO
A proposal to the city of Chicago as part of Urban Grow Collective’s mission to enhance the lives of the residents living on Chicago’s south side. Green Era Campus stands to be the second phase of their land development project in hopes of bringing fresh produce and community enrichment to an underserved community. Phase two of the site consists of an education center, farm stand , amphitheater, walking trail and event plaza. The schematic design illustrates my interior design contribution in the programming of the teaching kitchen and farm-stand, along with renders of the facade in collaboration with TNS Studio’s Principal Architect, Taylor Stanten.

THE NEW AGE OF WORKPLACE DESIGN
The project involves the renovation and modernization of a 2930 sq ft existing office suite. The goal of the project is to create a contemporary and functional workspace that reflects the needs and aesthetic preferences of the client. The layout of the office suite has been reconfigured to create a more open and collaborative work environment, while creating separation by incorporating portions without interrupting the line of sight. My teammate and I set out to create a simple design that incorporates modern finishes and fixtures, such as sleek cabinetry, way-finding flooring transitions and a custom wood slate wall to separate the open office from employee break room.

The architectural public housing model was created in 1935 when the 604-unit Techwood Homes Development moved in ans displaced hundreds of African-American residents. The architectural models were later duplicated across the nation and gave distinction to separation of race. Small business owners support residents by creating this idea of mentorship as a requirement to use the spaces on the property. Grouping different entities into a single area or structure. Combining brick and mortar businesses with residential wood construction. As well as using two methods of mass timber construction (seen in wall section) by combining glulam beam and column systems with glulam panel systems.

MAXIMIZING LIVING CONDITIONS WITHOUT OBSTRUCTION
With the ever-increasing cost of living in places across our nation, it is important that we not only understand but take advantage of spatial limitations. This project focuses on maximizing how individuals live and operate in small spaces such as studio apartments. Brew Lafayette is a facility designed by a former architecture student. I was brought onto the project to design the micro-apartments. Tony Smith’s Free Ride was my inspiration, using the contrast between solid form and void space to guide the user experience. This concept was submitted to the TOP’S Taste of the Real World competition (2nd Place Winners).

Custom wall system that maximizes the storage in a micro-apartment unit while allowing the studio to appear clutter-free. When not in operation the doors of the storage unit are closed, showing off its sleek design while acting as guiding and separation mechanisms. This built in custom system features a fully functional kitchen and plenty of storage for everyday household items.

Storage unit engulfs the bathroom and appears to be a wall of panels , that can also be used for displaying art work. The engulfing unit includes a custom closet system along with vertical drawers.

SUPPORTING TRANSITION OUT OF HOMELESSNESS INTO SOCIETY
The cost of living in Boston, Massachusetts is at an all-time high, however, the average household’s income has not increased. The spike in housing cost has caused a spike in family homelessness. In 2015 the amount of family homelessness alone had risen 25%. Re-imaging homeless shelters as a transitional space for a minimum of six months is what this conceptual project set out to accomplish. Providing temporary family housing to those at risk of homelessness or homeless. While creating areas within the facility for support services so that families are given the resources that will allow them to get back on their feet.

Prefabricated homes secured to an existing structure, feature a fully functional kitchen and living space to make the residents feel right at home. Residents are offered a comfortable place to rest and relax without the daily struggles of finding shelter each day. Acting as a neutering space to allow focus on transition into their regained stability.
