POLVERIERA: UN LUOGO DI VITA PENSATO PER TUTTI A lively place designed around and for people
Un edificio vuoto, uno spazio abbandonato, un luogo dismesso che torna a nascere. Il progetto Polveriera parla di recupero di spazi militari abbandonati per restituirli alla collettività, parla di inserimento di nuove funzioni sociali in un quartiere problematico di una città, parla della bellezza come strumento di inclusione sociale e contrasto alla marginalità e al degrado.
Uno spazio per tutti, funzionale e accogliente, pensato per le esigenze dei più fragili e non connotato solo per alcuni utilizzatori. Uno spazio che non discrimina e che oggi ospita, nell’edificio già ristrutturato, un centro diurno e residenziale per disabili oltre a uffici e sportelli di cooperative sociali, e nell’edificio adiacente ospiterà un caffè ristorante, un laboratorio del riuso affiancato ad un centro socio occupazionale sperimentale con un suo spazio commerciale e infine uffici e spazi di co-working. L’intero comparto, riqualificato, tornerà ad essere pubblico al termine dell’affitto concesso per 50 anni alla società La Polveriera, con costo pari a zero per la collettività e ritorno massimo.
An empty building, an abandoned space, a disused location brought back to life. The Polveriera project involves the recovery of a disused military site to return it to the community, the provision of new social amenities for a troubled area of a town, and beauty as a means to social inclusion and for combating marginalisation and degradation.
L’ipotesi era generare un’esperienza sostenibile di cambiamento di un quartiere, il Mirabello, e di una città, Reggio Emilia, convertendo due fabbricati storici in disuso, adibiti alla manutenzione di carri armati durante la seconda guerra mondiale, in un centro servizi per la comunità e in un luogo di relazione.
The aim was to create a sustainable experiment for generating change in a district, Mirabello and a town, Reggio Emilia, by converting two disused historic buildings once used for maintaining tanks during the Second World War into a centre housing community services and leisure facilities.
A convenient, pleasant place, open to all, designed to serve the needs of the most vulnerable and not connotated for just a small group of users. A place which does not discriminate, where the building already renovated now houses a day and residential centre for the diversely able as well as the offices and help desks of social cooperatives, while the adjoining building will contain a café-restaurant and a workshop where objects will be restored and repaired for reuse, together with a retail area and co-working offices and areas. At the end of the 50 year lease granted to the La Polveriera company, the renovated complex will be returned to public management, at absolutely no cost to the community and with the very highest returns.
