BACHELOR OF HEALTH CARE, NURSING

210 ECTS - 3,5 years – Daytime studies – Kemi

WHO IS A PERFECT FIT TO THIS PROGRAMME: Ideal for persons who have passion for nursing expertise and taking care of people. Best candidates possess strong English and communication skills, a willingness to learn Finnish, and a commitment to professional growth.

CORE CONTENT: Our Nursing programme offers core competence studies essential for general nursing and profiling competence to deepen specific nursing skills. Core studies cover all nursing fields e.g. medical, surgical, mental health and elderly care. The programme also includes research and development competence. Learning occurs in authentic simulation environments, integrating nursing theory with clinical skills. Practical training in diverse social and health care settings ensures close ties to working life. The programme also includes 91 ECTS of practical training and a thesis. We emphasise diverse teaching methods, clinical hand skills, and personalized guidance in a supportive, safe environment.

FUTURE EMPLOYMENT: Graduates can work as registered nurses in Finland and the EU e.g. in hospitals, health care centers, and private and third sectors.

You will develop your creativity and innovation skills, becoming an expert in designing services for the tourism and hospitality field.

CORE CONTENT: In this programme you will get valuable professional skills required in the tourism and hospitality field, incl. service and experience design, luxury tourism, risk and crisis management and essential business-related subjects.

You will work in close cooperation with local tourism companies and organisations allowing you to make contacts and create networks and making it easier to secure employment in the industry – during and after your studies. Your studies also emphasise the importance of nature and sustainability. Your learning will include campus and online studies, workshops, projects, internships and possibly exchange studies outside Finland.

FUTURE EMPLOYMENT: You will receive an individual study plan that considers e.g. your previous studies and future plans. Marketing/ Sales Manager, Experience Designer, Travel Coordinator, Customer Service/Event Manager, Project Manager or Entrepreneur are a few examples of your possible future career paths.

BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING, MACHINE LEARNING AND DATA ENGINEERING

240 ECTS – 4 years – Full-daytime studies – Rovaniemi

MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, DIGITAL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

90 ECTS - 1,5 years – Online studies – Tornio

WHO IS A PERFECT FIT TO THIS PROGRAMME: This programme is designed for professionals who hold a Bachelor’s degree in business administration or another business-related higher education degree, and who have acquired at least two years (24 months) of relevant work experience after graduation.

CORE CONTENT: The Master’s Degree Programme in Digital Business Management is divided into two parts: core (60 ECTS) and profiling (30 ECTS) competence studies. The core competence studies provide a solid foundation in digital business leadership and development. The studies also include research and development methods and Master’s thesis. The profiling competence studies allow students to tailor their learning path according to their personal interests and career goals. This programme unique because is its strong focus on Arctic business expertise, combined with international collaboration.

FUTURE EMPLOYMENT: Graduates of the Digital Business Management Master’s programme are well-equipped to take on demanding expert and leadership roles in both private and public sector organisations.

MASTER OF ARTS (ART AND DESIGN), SERVICE DESIGN STRATEGIES AND INNOVATIONS

120 ECTS - 2 years – Daytime studies – Rovaniemi, Kuldīga, Tallinn

WHO IS A PERFECT FIT TO THIS PROGRAMME: We welcome candidates who are passionate about service design and aspire to become leaders in the field. Our ideal students don’t need to be service design experts. We value candidates who are open-minded and creative, thrive on diverse perspectives, possess problem-solving skills, aim to make a positive societal impact, and exhibit a strategic, critical thinking mindset.

CORE CONTENT: Service Design Strategies and Innovations (SDSI) is an Erasmus Mundus programme that focuses on service design, management and leadership. We will help you become a versatile service innovator and enable you to work on tailor-made business projects that serve your practical needs.

FUTURE EMPLOYMENT: Graduates of the SDSI programme are well-equipped for a wide range of roles in both public and private sectors, including service designer, experience designer, design manager, researcher or strategist. 120 ECTS - 2 years - Daytime studies - Rovaniemi

WHO IS A PERFECT FIT TO THIS PROGRAMME: We are looking for students who are interested in questions related to the Arctic, who seek to enhance sustainability and want to apply the scientific expertise and knowledge gained in the programme either in tourism or in some other field. Previous studies in social sciences, the humanities, or environmental studies can support your learning in the programme.

CORE CONTENT: Our Master’s Degree Programme in Northern Tourism – based on a joint 30 credits component organised by the University of the Arctic (UArctic) Thematic Network on Northern Tourism – offers a multidisciplinary approach to sustainability in tourism and reflects on the growing global influence and relevance of change in the north.

FUTURE EMPLOYMENT: The graduates of the programme will become professionals of northern tourism and various aspects closely related to sustainable development. The graduates are able to work as experts in tourism related public or private organisations, enterprises and NGOs.

MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMME IN ARCTIC WORLD POLITICS

120 ECTS - 2 years – Daytime studies– Rovaniemi

WHO IS A PERFECT FIT TO THIS PROGRAMME: Those who wish to study world politics from an interdisciplinary perspective, centering on the Arctic. You should have a previous degree in Social Sciences.

CORE CONTENT: The program builds a bottom-up understanding of how the most pressing global and planetary challenges of our time are both reshaping, and reshaped by, the Arctic region. For instance, you will study how the climate change, the global resource rush and militarization are experienced by Arctic local and Indigenous societies, and how their knowledges, together with other theoretical traditions, can be applied to address emerging challenges, or to analyze contemporary world politics at large. The program is unique by its Arctic orientation and commitment to critical and decolonial approaches.

FUTURE EMPLOYMENT: Expertise in the Arctic is on high demand and knowledge that is grounded on local and Indigenous perspectives is considered particularly valuable. The program opens a range of career pathways in public, private, and third sectors, or in further PhD research.

ARCTIC INDIGENOUS CINEMA MASTER’S PROGRAMME

120 ECTS, 2 years (full-time), on-site in Rovaniemi

WHO IS A PERFECT FIT TO THIS PROGRAMME: The Arctic Indigenous Cinema master’s programme supports new talent in Indigenous storytelling through film and moving images.

CORE CONTENT: Rooted in Indigenous perspectives, it combines artistic practice with academic research. Over two years, students engage in screenwriting, directing, production, and visual storytelling, guided by experienced filmmakers and scholars. WHO IS A PERFECT FIT TO THIS PROGRAMME: Open-minded individuals with an ability for critical inquiry and desire to learn and shape the sustainable tourism industry. To apply for this programme, you should have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with minimum 60 ECTS (basic and intermediate level studies) in tourism, hospitality or business studies. You must have a good command of English.

CORE CONTENT: The programme has a broad understanding of current tourism theories and research that applies to responsible business, culture and international management using research-based teaching methods by experts in the field.

By completing this degree you will have graduate abilities of:

DOCTORAL EDUCATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LAPLAND 210 ECTS – Rovaniemi

WHO IS A PERFECT FIT TO DOCTORAL EDUCATION: The doctoral education is for those who wish to claim a place in the academic community as an international expert. You need to have a degree equivalent to a Finnish master’s degree.

CORE CONTENT: The University of Lapland has four faculties: Art & Design, Education, Law, and Social Sciences. As a doctoral researcher, you always belong to one of the faculties. The content of a doctoral programme is determined according to the requirements of your Faculty. As our doctoral researcher you develop an in-depth understanding of the phenomena within the research field while becoming more aware of its complexity and multidisciplinary character. You become able to independently and critically apply multidisciplinary methods for producing new scientific information.

FUTURE EMPLOYMENT: Doctoral degree holders have traditionally been employed by Finnish universities and research institutes in teaching and research. In the light of recent societal developments, a growing number of doctoral degree holders pursue a career outside academia, working in expert tasks in companies and in the public sector and sometimes as self-employed entrepreneurs.
