ZAGREB Na području Zagreba zlatari se spominju već od 1368. godine kada je proveden prvi službeni popis stanovništva (u popeno 4 zlatara). Početkom 16. stoljeća zlatari su osnovali svoj samostalni zlatarski ceh i preuzeli povlastice budimskih zlatara. Privilegije im je potvrdio Ludovik II. 1519. godine o čemu postoji i pisani trag. Na području Gradeca tada je radilo 30 zlatara. U promjenjivim povijesnim i gospodarskim uvjetima zlatarski su obrti pokazali veliku sposobnost opstojanja. Današnje vrijeme potrošačkog mentaliteta sa svojim novim tržišnim pravilima, iznimno kratkim rokovima izrade, gdje suvremena tehnologija i strojna obrada preplavljuju tržište, ostavlja skučeni prostor malom broju radionica koje nastavljaju tradiciju i koriste umijeća ručne obrade unikatnog nakita. Neki umjetnički obrti još odolijevaju problemima tržišne ekonomije, prilagođavajući se novonastalim okolnostima uz originalnost i inovaciju. Lapidarium je takvo mjesto gdje se umijeće izrade ručno rađenog nakita još uvijek njeguje kroz starinske tehnike i vještine izrade. ZAGREB KREATIVNOST I TRADICIJA CREATIVITY AND TRADITION

A goldsmiths’ tradition in Zagreb dates back to 1368., when the first official census has been conducted (there was a mentioning of four goldsmiths). In the early 16th century, they have established their independent goldsmiths’ guild by assuming privileges of Hungarian capital Budim. King Ludovic II confirmed those privileges in the year 1519. of which there exists a historical document. Within the region of Gradec there have been 30 goldsmiths working in those times. In the recent history of turbulent economic tides, craftsmen of Zagreb showed a great restraint for survival. Nowadays, with an implementation of harsh capitalist rules where modern technology and machined jewellery flooded the market, it leaves only the confined space to a small number of workshops which are still trying to continue with manual production of unique, handmade jewellery. Consumerism and contemporary fashion trends dictate simpler and cheaper designs. In this battle, only a few manage to overcome problems of the market economy by attempting to adapt through authenticity and innovation. Lapidarium is still the place where a craftsmanship is being nurtured by the primeval, original mastery. A special place, where arts and crafts, tradition and modernity blend so naturally.

ROVINJ ROVIGNO Uz današnji Rovinj, vezuje se priča o istarskoj Atlantidi – mitskom poluotoku zvanom Cissa. Legenda govori da je Cissu na dan Sv. Eufemije, 16.rujna 304. godine, pogodio sudbonosni podvodni zemljotres. Zapjenjeno je more poplavilo njene ulice, kuće, tržnice i palače. Poluotok se razdijelio na mnoštvo otoka koji i dan danas leže u uvalama okolo grada. Njeni preživjeli stanovnici na današnjoj su lokaciji osnovali pitoreskni gradić Castrum Rubini - Rovinj. Zbog ostavštine bogate povijesti kao i osebujne lokacije Rovinj je danas jedan od najatraktivnijih lokaliteta na Mediteranu. Grad odiše jedinstvenom ljepotom koja privlači posjetitelje iz cijelog svijeta. Njegove prekrasne kamenom popločene ulice, nad kojima se uzdižu stara usko zbijena zdanja s baladurima i terasama povrh, renesansni bedemi, predivne crkve, galerije na otvorenom, brojni restorani koji nude lokalnu morsku hranu, čiji svježi miris prožima gotovo svaki kutak grada, pogled na morsko plavetnilo ukrašeno s 22 otoka svaki sa svojim posebnim ljepotama predstavljaju ono što Rovinj čini istinskim biserom kojeg se mora vidjeti i doživjeti.

ROVINJ ISTARSKA UMJETNIČKA PRIJESTOLNICA ISTRIAN ART’S CAPITAL

In connection with the present day Rovigno, there is a story of Istrian Atlantis - a peninsula called Cissa. The legend says that Cissa on the day of St. Euphemia, (September 16th, 304 AD), was hit by an uderwater earthquake. The overwhelming sea has flooded an entire settlement, water swallowed all the streets, houses, chapels and palaces. A peninsula shattered on a multitude of islands that still lie around the city. Cissa’s surviving inhabitants founded a new picturesque settlement they named Castrum Rubini - Rovigno. Due to the legacy of a rich history and unique location, Rovinj today stands as one of the most attractive and distinguished Mediterranean cities. The city exudes unique beauty that attracts visitors from all over the world. Its beautiful stone paved streets over which the old narrow-walled buildings rise, with renaissance ramparts, beautiful churches, open-air galleries, numerous restaurants offering local seafood, fresh smell that permeates over every corner of the city, the view on the infinite blueness adorned with 22 islands, each with their own specific beauty represents what makes Rovinj one of the true pearls that must be seen and experienced.

MIDZO Sve je počelo s narukvicom, skulpturom u sebi. Ivan je u kolekciji rađenoj za galeriju Lapidarium narukvicu učinio refleksijom umjetnosti, a ne objektom žudnje. Žena je u njegovom svijetu umjetnička skulptura koja prezentira i samosvjesno nosi njegov nakit, a ne modna žrtva koja traži osobni objekt obožavanja.

It all started with a bracelet, a sculpture in itself. In this collection made for Lapidarium, Ivan made the bracelet an expression of art rather than an object of desire. The woman, an abstract idea, is a canvas for his pieces rather than a fashionable woman that seeks an object of adornment.

Ivanov stil nije inspiriran trendovima ili pomodarstvom već je u potpunosti rezultat njegove kiparske mašte. Njegova intuicija mu pomaže u stvaranju djela koja nisu podložna prolaznim stilovima. Svaki komad postoji u svom vlastitom životu, diše poput skulpture i ukrasa istovremeno. Ivanovi oblici ogledalo su prirode, on kreće organski preko svojih skulptura savijajući žice i lim, povinujući se materijalu da mu govori i da ga vodi kroz kreativni proces.

His style is not inspired by trends or transitional fashion, but is entirely the result of his own imagination. His intuition alone makes his pieces not bound by time and passing fads. Each piece stands and exists on its own, breathes like a sculpture and an adornment simultaneously. Ivan’s shapes mirror nature, he moves organically through each one of them via wire and sheet, letting the materials speak and guide him through the creative process.

OBLUCI PEBBLES Isabelle Bianchi Marchesseau Rodom iz Nancya u Francuskoj, nakon završetka studija povijesti umjetnosti, radila je u muzeju lijepih umjetnosti prije nego je napustila Francusku, kako bi otkrila ostale zemlje i kulture.

Isabelle Bianchi Marchesseau native of Nancy in France, after completing her studies in art history has been working at the Museum of Fine Arts before she left France to explore other countries and their cultures.

Njen nakit je potraga za jednostavnim formama. Čiste linije su inspirirane oblutcima čija okrugla forma i nježnost pozivaju na senzualni odnos. Srebro je metal s kojim najviše voli raditi, upravo zbog njegove boje i odsjaja kojem dajući mu satinasti aspekt, izražava poziv na dodir.

Her jewellery is a quest for simple shapes. Clean lines are often inspired by pebbles whose circular shape and tenderness are calling for a sensual relationship. Silver is a precious metal of her preference, due to its colors and hues that give her pieces a satinated aspect, expresses a call for tactile reflection.

VAL WAVE Silvieva ljubav prema automobilima, prema brzini, mehanici i metalu dovela ga je do oblikovanja nakita u kojem je pronašao spoj svojih interesa. Linijom i plohom, u kombinaciji s bojom (patinom) stvorio je prepoznatljivi suvremeno-futuristički stil.

A love for the cars, speed, mechanics, metal and craft has brought a young sculptor to the art of jewellery. By the usage of line and surface, combined with the patina finish, Silvio has created distinctive jewelry with futuristic style.

Plemeniti metal u njegovim rukama dobiva specifičnu vizualnu karakteristiku vala. Kao da se njegova inspiracija može prepoznati u J.G. Ballard-ovu svijetu gdje se prožimaju ljudski sokovi i kruti metali u metaforičkom ‘Sudaru’ mašina i ljudskih tijela (seksualnosti). Njegov nam nakit svojim rafiniranim prijelazima iz nježnog tapiciranog unutarnjeg zgiba u oštre metalne vanjske ovojnice govori o delikatnom suodnosu organskog i mehaničkog.

Precious metal in his hands gets a specific visual form of the wave. His inspiration could be depicted in J.G. Ballard’s world in which the human bodily juices and solid metals had permutated within the concepts of machinery and raw sexuality. Through the refined transitions of his bracelets, from soft upholstered inner knuckle to the sharply curved outer shell Silvio sublimely reveals a delicate connection between organic and mechanical.

LEPTIRI BUTTERFLIES ‘Leptiri’ su autorsko djelo Karla Krekića, mladog umjetnika formiranog u Školi primjenjenih umjetnosti u Zagrebu, ova kolekcija inspirirana je istraživanjem geometrijskih oblika i njihovih kompozicija. Iz tih apstraktnih polazišta nastali su leptiri - koji svojom elegantnom linijom uz vrat svake žene žive svoj novi život.

‘Butterflies’ is a work by Karlo Krekić, a young artist educated in the School of Applied Arts in Zagreb, this collection was inspired by research into geometric shapes and innovative compositions. From these abstract starting points, butterflies have been created - with an elegant expression they live their new lives on the neck of every woman.

Kako leptiri u stvarnom životu simboliziraju promjenu i novi početak, tako i u Karlovoj izvedbi slave ljepotu žene i ciklično obnavljanje životne energije.

As butterflies in a real world symbolize change and the new beginning, these crafted butterflies glorify a female beauty and cyclical renewal of life energy.

GINKGO Irinejina prepoznatljivost usko je povezana s prirodom. Poglavito s ljekovitim biljem koje u svijetu farmakologije iscjeljuje tijelo, njen nakit to čini na razini duhovnosti. Kolekcija ‘Ginkgo’ jedna je od njenih umjetničkih kolekcija koje sa bavi konceptom duhovnog zdravlja. Forme u srebru i zlatu minuciozno izrađuje do najsitnijih detalja.

Irineja’s identity is closely linked with nature. In particular to the herbs which according to pharmacology heal our body. Somehow her pieces heal our spirituality. Art collection ‘Ginkgo’ deals with the concept of spiritual health. Forms of silver and gold are meticulously crafted to the smallest detail.

Kroz jednostavnu organsku formu, repliciranja izgleda listova ginka naznačuje njen iscjeliteljski duh prema društvu i vremenu u kojem živimo. Noseći njene komade povezujemo se s prirodom na suptilnoj razini, romantičan koncept koji se danas u doba otuđenja od prirode doima potpuno suvremenim.

Through the simple organic form, replicating the look of the leaves she annunciates her unleashed healing spirituality in act to improve the ills of society. By wearing her pieces we connect with the nature on a subtle level, a romantic concept which now in the age of detachment from nature seems completely contemporary.

CORALLIUM RUBRUM Crveni koralj (Corallium rubrum), hrvatski dragi kamen, raste u Jadranskom i Mediteranskom moru, gdje ga nalazimo u svim nijansama crvene boje. Rast crvenog žarnjaka iznosi od 4-8 mm godišnje. Obrađeni crveni koralj ima jako visoku komercijalnu vrijednost i kao takav se koristi za izradu raznog nakita poput narukvica, ogrlica, prstenja, privjesaka, broševa, i sl.

Red coral (Corallium rubrum), Croatian gemstone, growing in the Adriatic and the Mediterranean Sea, where it is found in all shades of red. The growth rate of red coral is 4-8 mm per year. Manufactured Red coral has a very high commercial value and, as such, is used for making various kinds of jewellery pieces; bracelets, necklaces, rings, pendants, broaches, etc.

Od davnina je korišten kao osnovni element u izradi hrvatskog tradicijskog nakita. I dan danas nakit s crvenim koraljem duboko je štovan u narodu, vjeruje se da štiti malu djecu od bolesti i zlih uroka, te predstavlja statusni simbol.

Since ancient times it was used as an essential element in making of Croatian traditional jewellery. Jewellery with red coral remains deeply worshiped by the people, is believed to protect children from ill health or spells and owns a status symbol.

ABONOS ... fosilni hrast koji se u koritima rijeka bivšeg Panonskog mora odupirao uništenju, dočekao je u Smiljkinom radu, nakon više od 5000 godina, svoju novu formu i oživotvorio svoj smisao. Njen nakit inspiriran je vremenom i trajanjem. Tehnikom okivanja srebrom ovo plemenito fosilno drvo u njenim radovima dobiva suvremene konceptualne forme, od prethistorijske do futurističke. Kolekcija Abonos nadahnuta je trima povijesnim razdobljima. Pretpovijesni neolitik, nakit sa stiliziranim motivima dijelova divljih životinja (u skladu s drevnim poganskim vjerovanjima da čovjek dobiva snagu životinje čiji zub, kost i pero nosi). Vrijeme žalovanja kraljice Viktorije (doba prve uporabe fosilnog drva u izradi nakita, zbog njegove crne boje), klasični nakit od crnog, fosilnog drva, pravilnih linija i jednostavnog ritma, te suvremeni skulpturalan nakit sa srebrnim detaljima (nakit budućnosti). The time of great mourning; jewelry inspired by Queen Victoria (age of the first use of fossilized wood due to its deep black color), classic jewelry of black fossilized wood, straight lines and simple rhythms. ZLATNI LICITAR Običaj darivanja licitara, kojim mladić djevojci iskazuje svoju privrženost i ljubav, duboko je ukorijenjen u hrvatskoj kulturi (balet Licitarsko srce Krešimira Baranovića), jednako kao i ukrašavanje božićnog drvca sitnim licitarima. Zahvaljujući posebnom umijeću te svojstvenom načinu oslikavanja koje su hrvatski obrtnici tradicionalno prenosili i razvijali s generacije na generaciju, licitar je danas postao jedan od nacionalnih simbola te predstavlja autohtoni hrvatski tradicijski suvenir.

The custom of bestowing ‘Licitar’, when a young man expresses his love and devotion to his girlfriend, is deeply rooted in Croatian culture (ballet ‘Gingerbread Heart’ by Krešimir Baranović), as well as decorating the Christmas tree with tiny licitar gingerbreads. Thanks to art of painting that Croatian craftsmen have been passing on as a tradition, gingerbread has today become one of the nations’ symbols that represent indigenous Croatian souvenir.

‘Zlatni licitar’ je zaštićeno ime kolekcije nakita koju ekskluzivno proizvodi naša radionica. Kupuju ga i daruju građani i turisti širom Hrvatske, jedan je od rijetkih suvenira koji se izrađuje i prodaje u Hrvatskoj. Licitarsko srce je uvijek bilo i ostalo znak simpatije i ljubavi, tradicije kojoj želimo dodati i umjetničku dragocjenost.

‘Golden licitar’ the brand name jewellery collection is exclusively produced by our workshop. It is one of the few souvenirs being solely manufactured and sold in Croatia. Gingerbread heart has always been and still is a sign of affection and love, a tradition to which we added a simple artistic preciousness.

Artistic research by Marijo Nokaj has more creative dimensions. This project is stimulated by research into human relationships and modalities of social connectivity.

Krugovi u kojima se krećemo i živimo povezuju nas s drugim ljudima i tako naš život čine kompleksnijim, punijim, smislenijim. Povezanost i veze su naš smisao života, ova kolekcija simbolizira mentalnu i emotivnu povezanost.

The circles in which we move and live connect us with other people so our lives are more complete, more complex and meaningful. Connections and relationships are in our human essence. This collection symbolizes mental and emotional bonds.

Čvrstina zlatnih i srebrnih karika govori o duhovnoj plemenitosti ljudskih bića, koja usprkos dehumanizirajućim mijenama unutar suvremenog društva pokušavaju stvoriti osjećaj sigurnosti i pripadnosti krugu srodnih duša.

The clarity of the gold and purity of silver hoops speak about the spiritual nobility of human beings, which despite of dehumanizing shifts within the modern society are trying to create a sense of security and belonging to the circle of related souls.

PLANETI PLANETS Jedna od definicija astrologije je kako je ona jezik simbola. Krug je simbol duha, predstavlja cjelovitost i homogenost, simbol je i savršenosti jer nema ni početka ni kraja. Također, simbol je neba, predstavlja nebesko i transcendentalno. Njegov oblik povezuje ga s kotačem, simbolom vremena koje je beskrajno i vječno.

Astrology is the language of symbolism, within that system a circle is the symbol of spirit, representing integrity and homogeneity. A symbol of perfection as it transcends the essence of timelesness. Also, it is a symbol of heaven, it represents celestial and transcendental. Its shape is connected with wheel a symbol of time that is endless and eternal.

Najuočljiviji je u simbolu Sunca, predstavljenog krugom s točkom u sredini. Sunce je duhovni princip, središte je i najvažniji dio horoskopa te govori o razvoju ljudske osobnosti i kreativnih potencijala svakog pojedinca.

Most prominent in the symbolism of the Sun, represented by a circle with a dot in the middle. Sun is a spiritual principle, the hub and the most important part of a horoscope that speaks about the personal development and creative potential of an individual.

Mario Nokaj je ovom serijom htio naglasiti činjenicu kako svaka osoba posjeduje planet koji mu astrološki pripada, neki vjeruju da ga i sudbinski i karakterno određuje, tako nas ova kolekcija stavlja u centar svemira i unosi dozu mistike u naš život.

Mario Nokaj’s ‘Planets’ accentuate the fact how each individual has a connection to a certain planet, which also determines one’s fate and character. This collection places us in the center of the universe and brings a dose of mysticism into our lives.

ORHIDEJA ORCHID Kolekcija ‘Orhideja’ razrađuje koncept elegancije i senzualnosti. Zbog oblika i boje smatraju je afrodizijakom, opojnim cvijetom zavođenja. Rasipnost boja i oblika čini orhideju šarmantnim, neobičnim i posebnim cvijetom. U drevnoj Kini orhideje se često povezivalo s plodnošću i smatralo se kako pomažu pri začeću te jamče roditeljstvo. U Grčkoj, taj je cvijet bio toliko vezan uz žensku spolnost, da je čak jedan rod orhideja (Paphiopedilum) dobio naziv prema hramu božice ljubavi Afrodite. Njezina izuzetna ljepota priskrbila je danas orhideji status egzotičnog, profinjenog i ekstravagantnog cvijeta uz koji povezujemo ljubav, romansu, erotiku i želju za intimnošću. Irinejin nakit na svoj intimistički način tehnikom kovanja i patiniranja oživljuje te vrijednosti slaveći ih na tijelu žene.

By usage of metal forging and patina treatment techniques, Irineja’s jewellery in its intimate way, proudly celebrates those values on a female body.

Collection ‘Orchid’ elaborates the concept of elegance and sensuality. Due to the shape and colour is seen as an aphrodisiac, a spirituous flower of seduction. Consisted of extravagant colours and shapes makes the orchid a very charming, unusual and special flower. In ancient China, orchids were often associated with fertility and it was thought to give aid in child conception and parenthood. In Greece, this flow-

ČIKIN KRIŽ CHIKA’S CROSS U doba uspona hrvatskih narodnih vladara, kraljeva Petra Krešimira IV i Dmitrija Zvonimira, pojavile su se dvije snažne osobnosti te obnovile i utemeljile za mnoga stoljeća unaprijed, zadarski benediktinski ženski samostan Sv. Marije. To su bile časne sestre Čika i Vekenega. Njihova djelatnost na čelu reda od 1065. – 1111., dakle skoro pola stoljeća, značila je ne samo duhovni polet samostana, nego i snažni utjecaj na kulturni, društveni i politički život Zadra. Osnivačica Benediktinskog samostana opatica Čika je sa sobom s hodočašća iz Jeruzalema donijela križ relikvijar. Nakon njene smrti taj je križ ostao u kolekciji samostanskog blaga. Po tom je uzoru umjetnik Boris Borović napravio prijedlog za pojednostavljenu varijantu originala i za svoju je kreaciju dobio nagradu za najbolji suvenir u Hrvatskoj na temu religije.

Chika and Vekenega. Their activity at the head of the Benedictine Order from 1065 to 1111, that is, almost half a century, meant not only the spiritual upswing of the monastery but also an influence on the cultural, social and even political life of Zadar. A founder of the Benedictine monastery Chika, had brought from Jerusalem pilgrimage a relic of the Holy cross, which after her death remained in the collection of the church treasury. A sculptor Boris Borovic made a proposal of this cross that is a simplified variant and was awarded for the best souvenir in Croatia on the subject of religion.

Božidar Katić is a multimedia artist who profiled his creativity within defined categories of art, but in its practical guidelines unites diverse artistic production. However, this graphic artist by profession, has a drawing skill implanted as a mental mantra, an instrument that allows him a freedom to narcotic investigations into subconscious.

Suvišno je naglašavati vrijednost crteža kao temeljne likovne discipline koja i u suvremenom kontekstu besprijekorno potvrđuje svoju golemu povijesnu reputaciju. Crtanje je kanaliziranje energije, proces raspetljavanja odnosa likovnog jezika i iskustva, transponirana ideja koja uz pomoć inventivnih autorskih smjerova ističe neiscrpan potencijal ovakvog vizualnog izražavanja.

U svojim intimnim grafičkim dnevnicima, umjetnik je ostavio sjeme urbanih mitologija, a koje su u neobičnom zapletaju sudbine vidjele svjetlo dana u 3D objektima - umjetničkom nakitu. Kao da je netko oživio Bulgakovljevog Behemota.

In his confidential sketchbook diary, artist left a seed of urban mythology, which has in an unusual twist of fate seen the light of the day in form of 3D art jewelry. As if someone has awaken the spirit of Bulgakov’s Behemoth from ‘The Master and Margarita’.

Leaves are symbolic of abundance and fertility, and in the Chinese tradition the leaves of the Cosmic Tree represent all of the beings in the universe.

Često daju zastrašujući osjećaj, jer šuštanje obližnjeg lišća može značiti da se ‘zlo’ približava. Pojam ‘okretanje novog lista’ je zapadni idiom koji nam nudi priliku da svoj život počnemo iznova i mogućnost da ne ponavljamo prošle pogreške.

They often give a scary feeling, as the rustling of nearby leaves can mean ‘evil’ is lurking near. The term ‘turning over a new leaf’ is a Western idiom offering people a chance to start anew and amend their past mistakes.

U Silvievu radu listovi predstavljaju njegov nježniji umjetnički aspekt. Ovaj nakit u njegovu umjetničkom izričaju govori o unutarnjem ljudskom svijetu topline i duhovnom obilju.

In Silvio’s work the leaves are representing his gentler artistic aspect. Leaf jewellery in his artistic world speak of inner human world of warmth and spiritual exuberance.
