This course aims to provide the learner with the necessary knowledge and experience to continue on to a nursing career at third level. It will provide learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to enable them to work as a Healthcare Assistant in hospitals and in nursing homes. As part of the course learners must complete 150 hours’ work experience placement in a nursing home or hospital. Why should I apply for this course? Graduates will gain a recognised professional qualification and a practical introduction to nursing care theory, together with Manual Handling and First Aid. Graduates will be a qualified HSE-recognised carer on completion of the course. Graduates of the course may also go directly into employment in a care setting.
