Bath Twp. offering snowmobile safety course Scrapbooking Scrapbooking is offered on the third Friday of every month (excluding July and December) at the B.C.C. (5959 Park Lake Road). Bring your materials and enjoy the company of others while your scrapbook (beginning at 6 p.m.) You may register at the event ($3 per night or $12 for four nights). Everyone is welcome. Snowmobile safety Learn how to become a safe and responsible snowmobiler when you join instructor John Sabin on Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Bath Community Center (5959 Park Lake Road Bath) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a snowmobile safety course. This class is open to the public and everyone is eligible to attend. The cost to participate is $7 (parents and guardians are welcome to attend free of charge with their student). Pre-registration is recommended at the Bath Township Hall (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and class space is limited to 30. Registrations may be accepted the between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. on the morning of the event, providing space is available. Fly tying class Mel “Doc” Comeau will instruct participants on the proper techniques to tying flies on Jan. 26, Feb. 23, and March 23 (select one date or all three.) The event will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the BCC Bldg. Doc is currently employed with Orvis and is an avid fly fisherman. The fee per class is $10. A kit (includes a vice and all materials needed) can be purchased from Doc at the event. The registration deadline is one week prior to the event. Target archery A target archery class for ages 8 and up will take place at the BCC Bldg. (5959 Park

Lake Road). Join one of two sessions (Session 1 - Jan. 10, 17, 24, 31 and Feb. 7 or Session 2 - Feb. 28, March 7, 14, 21, 28.) Shooting at a distance of 30 feet, participants will learn proper techniques for target shooting. This class will be taught by our certified instructor, Mike Goodwin. Interested participants can register at the Bath Township Hall,14480 Webster Road, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Class space is limited to the first 10 registrants. The fee to participate is $35 and all equipment is provided. Ice fishing derby On Saturday, Feb.12, (DNR free fishing weekend) join local fisherpersons for a day of ice fishing on picturesque Park Lake from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Trophies will be awarded to the longest fish in the categories of pan fish, pike (legal) and bullhead/catfish. Prior to entering the ice, check in at the Bath Community Center (8-9 a.m.) for registration. Lunch will be offered for an additional $5 at the event. This year’s event is sponsored by Spagnuolo’s Party Store & Deli along with Mack’s Party Store. Each business has donated an ice shanty to be given away in a reverse drawing of all registrants present. The cost to participate is $10 per person. You may register at the event. Anyone who registers at the Bath Twp. Hall before Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. will be entered in an Early Bird

drawing for a special prize to be given away following the derby. Quilting in February Join instructor Pat Phillips as she walks you thru the steps to make a raggedy quilt from flannel on Saturday, Feb. 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You will have the option to make a lap or baby quilt. Participants are being asked to bring their own sewing machine and scissors if you have them. Kits will be available for purchase which will include the material and thread to make your quilt or you may chose to bring your own. The fee to register for the class is $10. If you plan to purchase a kit at an additional cost, you must register by Feb. 1. The registration deadline is Feb. 11. *** If you would be interested in volunteering through Bath Twp. BATH TWP. — The following programs are being offered by the Bath Township Parks and Recreation Department. For more information contact the department at (517) 641-6728. Adult volleyball Bath Township Parks and Recreation is offering free adult recreational volleyball from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Bath Middle School on Thursday evenings through February, 2011. From March 3 through May 26, the program will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. All skill levels are welcome. This program is open to any Bath Twp. resident who is at least 21 years old. Anyone living outside Bath Twp. must be at least 21 years old and accompanied by a Bath Twp. resident. Participants will be asked to sign in at the event. Music Jam Open to everyone, a free Music Jam is held on the third Wednesday of the month at the Bath Community Center, 5959 Park Lake Road. Please join the Music Jam on the third Wednesday of each month from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Bring an instrument to partake in the entertainment or simply sit back, relax and listen. Scrap Around the Clock Scrap Around the Clock will be held in February at the BCC Bldg. The schedule is as follows: Friday, Feb . 4, 6 p.m. to midnight; Saturday, Feb. 5, 9 a.m. to midnight; and Sunday, Feb. 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fee to participate is $25. Space is limited and preregistration is recommended at the Bath Twp. Hall. If spaces are available, you may register at the door.
