EAST LANSING — St. Johns swimming and diving dominated nonleague East Lansing, beating the Trojans 228-83 Dec. 14. “East Lansing is down this season, so this was an opportunity to get all of our kids in the meet and see what they were capable of doing in a meet situation,” Redwing Coach Kim Brewbaker said. “There were some great surprises and some great optimism for the upcoming season,” said Coach Kim Brewbaker. St. Johns diver Brennan LaBar set a new East Lansing pool record with 250.55 points and Nick Grider turned in a Division 2 state meet qualifying time of 1:49.55 in the 200 freestyle. The Redwings swept all 12 events and took the top three spots in four events. “We have some tough training days over Christmas break, and when we get through that we will be looking forward to some

very competitive meets with several of the top teams in the area,” Brewbaker said. Placements for the Redwings were: 200 medley relay - Jeff Makarauskas, Steve Peterson, Gage Denny and Jacob Crosby, first (1:54.89); James Schroeder, Dillon Kuchuk, Tom Banninga and Tyler Boyd, third (2:00.80); David Elzinga, Ben Scheffler, Zach Bouck and Jerry Cupples, fifth (2:22.35); James McCarthy, Sebastian Schroeder, Brandon Geiersbach and Wes Prout, sixth (2:28.47). 200 freestyle - N.
