Albert Einstein has always been in great demand. Many universities and colleges used to call him to deliver lectures on a variety of subjects. His driver used to accompany him for all the lectures. He used to listen to what Einstein delivers.

One fine day, Einstein received an invitation for delivering a lecture on his famous Theory of Relativity at a distant location. It was a long drive. Einstein’s driver saw this opportunity as a chance to impress his master with the knowledge he had gathered over the years listening to Einstein’s lectures.

He asked Einstein whether anyone from the college had ever seen Einstein or knew how he looked like. Einstein replied in the negative. The driver asked Einstein to let him handle this lecture. He had learnt enough about the Theory of Relativity. Hence, he should be able to handle it. Einstein wanted some fun as well. He agreed. They swapped places with Einstein wearing the driver’s clothes and driving the car. The driver slipped into Einstein’s robes.

They approached the college. The authorities welcomed Einstein not knowing that he was in fact a driver. The lecture started. The driver gave a near perfect lecture; as good as any Einstein himself had given until now. Einstein was surprised and could not help applauding the feat.

Now, came the dreaded moment when some students started asking awkward questions.

The driver started answering them with aplomb until one question stumped him. He could not reveal that he was not the real Einstein. He could not ignore the question either. He did not know the answer and did not want to show his ignorance as this would have painted Einstein in poor light. What did he do? Can you guess?

He nonchalantly replied, “Ha, this answer is absolutely easy that even my driver who is standing there can answer the same” So saying, he called the driver (Einstein himself) to answer the question. Impressed with the driver’s presence of mind, Einstein went on to answer that question and many more subsequently. This is how the driver saved the day both for himself and for his master.
