Hope to see you around!
s I write this note it’s 32 C and a blue sky day in the wonderful Okanagan The District is bustling, and everyone seems energized by our first “normal” summer in a few years! Our team is so happy to see our tenants largely back to work, enjoying the patios at our many outstanding restaurants and connecting with friends and co workers This feeling of community is something we are always trying to build upon It’s what we believe is the best part of working in the Landmark District! Despite supply chain and labour shortages plaguing the construction industry, our team at Landmark 7 has been working tirelessly to achieve an occupancy permit for Landmark 7 in August. We can’t wait to have our Landmark tenants visit the building and see its stunning lobby and experience the Tree of Hope Plaza complete with an impressive water feature facing Dickson Road and a unique light art sculpture adorning the wall above the plaza. When the consumer retail unit fronting the plaza is operational, the Tree of Hope Plaza will be yet another fabulous point of connection for our community. Finally, I’m pleased to share that due to the success of last year's Easter Seals Drop Zone, we’ll be at it again on September 20th with fearless participants rappelling down Landmark 6, raising funds for a great Charity the Easter Seals Summer Camp in Lake Country.

OUTDOOR DINING
As the weather is starting to warm up in the beautiful sunny Okanagan, it’s time for restaurants to start getting their patios ready for their loyal patrons. Here at CREATE, we ’ ve come up with some must haves this patio season and our thoughts on dining trends in 2022. trends
w
For those who still want that privacy and seclusion that they became accustomed to during the days of seating limits and plastic barriers, restaurants are now using higher back seating to give that extra level of separation. Another emerging trend is dining pods, these give the diner a sense of privacy while still remaining part of the public space Using light materials allows for separation and yet the diner still feels as if they are in their own intimate space
hile the pandemic is still very fresh in our minds, moving forward as things open up and go back to normal it’s important that you still feel safe with your dining experience

Communal tables are a great way to re introduce socializing while keeping table maximums to safe amounts. Customizable seating arrangements are also going to be popular so different group sizes can be accommodated Casual seating around propane fire pits has also become a common element in many patios across Kelowna
It's time to put on your shades and sun hat and get out there and enjoy this beautiful Okanagan weather. Patio season has begun!
Moving forward, more intense cleaning routines will be the industry standard when it comes to cleaning after each patron leaves. Nonporous surfaces will replace exposed wood surfaces, which are difficult to keep clean Recycled plastic furniture is quickly becoming popular as it is easy to clean, quick to manufacture and are quite stylish HUB Office Furniture is working with a new line called TONIK which has some awesome pieces that would be perfect on any patio this season

The plaza is conceived to be a permanent year round outdoor meeting space that serves to honour the Tree of Hope and its charitable works. It will serve as a public thoroughfare for pedestrians and cyclists to travel from the Landmark District over to the high speed transit along Harvey Ave and the pedestrian overpass leading to the Parkinson Recreation Centre. Starting at the south end will be a water feature and a grand staircase welcoming you up onto the accessible plaza with permanent seating and planting areas up top for all to enjoy We have developed a retail connection as the base of the LM7 building that serves to tie into the retail businesses located in the District Market and over to Landmark 3. (No more having to walk through the parking lot!) The completion of the plaza will be one more step in the creation of the Landmark District neighbourhood
s we mark the 25th year of the Tree of Hope charity campaign we are very pleased to introduce the Tree of Hope Plaza currently being built at Landmark 7
