ABOUT THE COVER
Like the flowers we offer to the our Mother every month of May, we fill this anniversary issue’s cover with the the same hope. With the declaration of 2024 as The Year of Prayer, in preparation for the 2025 Jubilee Year, we continue to invoke through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin all our aspirations, our dreams, and our call for forgiveness. Through the different chapel activities, and as we continue on with our daily lives, we heed the call while striving to commit to a life of prayer. As we look forward to next year as ‘pilgrims of hope,’ we continue being its heralds while embodying our Mother’s joy and love.

Our Life, Our Sweetness, Our Hope
The theme for this year’s feast of the patroness of our chapel is taken from the beautiful prayer we offer to Mary, the Salve Regina. In this prayer, we call Mary our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
The Holy Father, Pope Francis, declared this year, 2024, as the Year of Prayer in preparation for next year’s Jubilee Year, which focuses on the theme, Pilgrims of Hope. Prayer is also our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
Prayer is our life. Prayer keeps us alive because it connects us to the source of our life. It is often said that prayer is to the Christian as water is to fish. Take fish out of the water, and it will surely die. Take prayer out of a Christian, and we won’t live. We won’t survive.
Prayer is our sweetness. Through prayer, we experience sweetness and joy amid all the bitterness that prevails in our world, society, family, and hearts. Prayers turn our bitterness to sweetness, tears to laughter, failure to success, and sorrow to joy.
Prayer is our hope. The reason why we pray is because we have hope. Prayerful people are hopeful people. And hopeful people never fail to pray. In prayer, we express our hope in the Lord.
As we celebrate the feast of Mary, our Mother of Hope, let us ask her to teach us to pray to Jesus, our only hope. And with Mary, may we always be a prayerful and hopeful community of Jesus.
Happy Fiesta!

A Life in Prayer
pRAYER : A J OURNEY
by Ronnalene R. Florido
Life, they say, is just a journey that begins at birth and ends upon death. To some, life is something to live by, to enjoy and to make the most out of it. Is life really worth living?
There are people who forget that life is God’s greatest gift. When life gets tough, some tend to give in to the temporary comforts and pleasures that the world gives. When life becomes too heavy to carry , some find it hard to bear.
As disciples of Jesus, we must always see life as a gift - to know, to love and to serve the Lord. We must live our lives as concrete examples of Jesus’ love and compassion. We do this by extending our time, talents and resources to people who are in most need.
To know, to love and to serve the Lord, we must live a life in prayer. Prayer is our communication with God, and we do this by glorifying Him, thanking Him, addressing our needs and desires and confessing our sins.
Indeed, life is more than just something to live by. It is a journey of faith that someday we will all be in communion with Him. We are all born to be disciples of Jesus through living a life in prayer.
A pER s ON IN pRAYER
by Visitacion “Chit” dela Torre
Like a great work of art, a human being in prayer is priceless. This act of submitting one’s will to the Father is an act of humility. As true disciples of Jesus, we pray with full trust in Him.
Faith is the beginning of trust. And when one prays, what matters not is what one is praying for, or for whom. What is essential is one’s submission, one’s acknowledgement that this prayer is a wish, and for the Father to do with it as He pleases.
A person in prayer shares their innermost dreams, offers their deepest wounds, or their greatest victories. Thus, prayer is essentially a conversation, a warm exchange of pleasantries and dreams. It is an act of love.
With faith in prayer, there lingers the hope that all prayers are answered, and that prayer springs from day to day, in ardent submission to the Father’s will.
As true disciples of Jesus, prayer keeps human beings in the earnest embrace of the Word of God. From prayer springs true service to others in honor of the Father
More things, more visions come true with prayer.
pRAYER I s f OR ALL
by Dolly Villanueva
During the Mass before Our Father, the priest says, “At the Saviour’s command and formed by divine teaching” or “Let us now pray the prayer that Jesus Himself taught us.” As derived from Luke 11:1-4, when the disciples asked Jesus, “Lord teach us how to pray.” Jesus taught them, “The Prayer of Our Father.”
The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) describes prayer in three forms. First, Prayer as God’s gift (CCC 2559). Prayer is the raising of one’s mind and heart to God, requesting for good things. Our attitude should be “humility.” Second, Prayer as Covenant (CCC 2562). It is a covenant relationship between God through Jesus, His Son springing from the Holy Spirit within ourselves. And third, Prayer as Communion (CCC 2565). Prayer is the living relationship of the children of God with the Father. Through our Baptism, we are all united with Christ as one body.
Pope Francis declared 2024 as the Year of Prayer. It is an invitation to intensify prayer as a personal dialogue with God. Lay faithfuls in the whole world are encouraged to pray as one family, strengthening their bond of One Father.
Prayer transforms us to desire to be in the presence of God, adoring and listening to Him. Through prayer we grow in our relationship and hope in the Lord. A strong prayer life sustains us to become witnesses and evangelizers in this modern world.
To pray is taught by Jesus. Thus, all are called to grow in a life of prayer both personally and communally.
Prayer is important because it helps us to stay close to God. When we pray, we are opening up our hearts to Him and He is able to work in us and through us. Prayer also helps us to grow in our relationship with God.
“The importance of prayer for me is that it allows me to give a loving attention to God who speaks in the silence of my heart. It allows my daily activities to be more attune and be attentive to the loving presence of God in those moments.
What is the importance of prayer for you?
Prayer is important for me as it lets me recognize God being present in my life in all its joys and sorrows, triumphs and defeats. Communicating with a loving God to whom I owe my existence and identity as his ephemeral creation with the purpose of serving him. Knowing that I am not alone in this life full of challenges and that I cannot do all things by myself thus having complete reliance and dependence to Him.
J. Aro
“The importance of prayer for me is that it serves as our outmost connection to God (Holy Trinity) Firstly calling upon God, the Holy Spirit to enlightened us. Prayer equipped us to face the days challenges. It will be our shield, armor and best weapon against all adversities.
Maria Cristina Busog
Prayer is a way of communication between humans, and God. Prayer is an essential in my life, as it helps me build a stronger foundation of relationship with God. Prayer gives me hope, and strength to carry on in my life as this serves as my shield, and protection in every challenge I experience along the way. Whenever I am happy, worried, or afraid, I call to Him through a prayer. It is so important to me, as through prayer, I can really feel the presence of the Lord. Prayer is a beautiful reminder for all of us that God listens, and God is always present.

Prayer is important to me because it allows me to thank the Lord for the daily blessings, seek forgiveness, and ask for guidance. It provides a moment of calm, peace, and reassurance that someone is listening and guiding me. Prayer has helped me through my hardest times, and I believe it will continue to support me now and in the future.

Prayer helps me to get nearer to God. It is my way of communicating to Him silently. Prayer is the fuel that keeps me going in life through good and bad times.
Reya Magdalena Agravante
Prayer, for me, is a communication with God. To Him though the intercession of the Virgin Mary, Mother of God, I tell every pain, every anxiety, every fear, and every heartbreak that I’ve been through such as in my case. Prayer is important for me because this is how I offer myself to God, an act of surrendering my pleas and petitions. And, of course, prayer is also important not just for myself alone but for others more when they’re in need of Him.

Prayer provides me with connection to God and this connection is extremely comforting especially during difficult times when I feel alone and helpless. I find peace, solace and reassurance that I am not alone in my struggles. Prayer is also an important way for me to express gratitude and appreciation for the blessings in my life. I gain a deeper sense of appreciation and gratitude for the good things in my life. A more positive outlook as I focus on the abundance and blessings that surrounds me rather than my shortcomings or challenges.

Prayer is when you communicate with God in a personalized manner. It’s the moment that only you and Him understands. A personal connection that deepens one’s faith.

Blessed day! Prayer is very important in our life as it is our only way to communicate and to be connected to our lord... By praying we can open our heart to god all what’s in our heart and all what we are going through. Amen
Aurora Agbada
The importance of prayer for me is that it not only gets our work sanctified each day but it brings us one step closer to God and an effective means of bringing and helping others to know, love, and serve God all the time in the best way possible. Prayer not only builds our character and strenghtens our faith but also guides us as we intercede in behalf of other people those whom we love and care for including the least of our brethren whom the Lord loves and cherishes also. God assures us through prayer that He is one call away, He is available to listen to us as His heart is open 24/7/365. Prayer gives us the opportunity to adore God, offer our contrite hearts which He never refuses, to express our thanksgiving and gratitude for all the blessings we receive by serving Him in the last, lost, and lowly in our society as we give back to Him all the glory, honor and praise He rightfully deserves.
Meanne Mabesa Mijares
“it is my way to open my heart to the Lord to have a conversation with Him to connect with Him deeply. In prayer I can pause for a while. rest in Jesus alone and let my heart healed from all the struggle, fear, pain and regain strength to stand and fight again. In prayer I see me as a child asking for His father help. In prayer I reminded me always that I need Jesus in my life, I am nothing without Him. in prayer I can see all the beautiful color in my life that I should be grateful. that my life is not just about pain and struggle there is also joy and miracle from Him that make me grow. in prayer it makes me feel alive, that I’m not alone because I have Jesus, the church and the community I can pray for and I now also praying for me too.

For me, prayer is of the utmost importance.
It is second only to the mass in being able to be with Our Lord. A direct line to Heaven where I hope to be one day.
It is such a blessing that through prayer, I can express my love and adoration, thank Him for all the blessings He showers upon me and my family, and to ask for world peace and the grace to do His will always.
What could possibly be more important..

MARY , M OTHER O f H O p E
The First of Many Things Yet to Come
by Gigi Lacson - Bermejo
It has been a busy but fulfilling year for the Mary, Mother of Hope Mission Station - Landmark Chapel Makati, as it celebrated its 10th Anniversary as a community last June 30, 2023. Many activities were planned and put into action making this year a truly momentous one as significant events, considered a first for the Mary, Mother of Hope Chapel (MMHC) family, contributed to the growth and vibrancy of the community.
To kick off the festivities, the Chapel finally celebrated Sacraments which it had been bestowed upon when it was declared as a Mission Station. The first Baptism held at the chapel was officiated by His Eminence Jose Cardinal Advincula, D.D.. After a few days, the Chapel welcomed its first Confirmands and weeks later, its first Communicants. Since then, many from the Landmark Chapel Community composed of families of employees and servants, to mass goers, and even some of its Facebook Subscribers, have availed of the Sacrament of Baptism, the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the Sacrament of Confirmation at the Chapel.
Last March 28 to 30, 2024, a most significant event was held at the chapel– the Easter Triduum. With excitement in their hearts and cooperative spirits, both servants and chapel personnel attended the rehearsals and diligently studied their parts which resulted in everyone giving their very best as if offering themselves to the one who first offered His life for us.
These accomplishments reflect the dedication, generosity, and faithfulness of the MMHC community. Looking forward, we remain excited to continue building upon these milestones while striving towards our shared vision of a vibrant and inclusive faith community.
