The South East is one of the UK’s largest centres of population. More than 18 million people live and work within 75 miles of Tilbury. As the closest international port to London, it offers a big reduction in road miles, creating a strong business case for local and regional distribution centres to reduce lead times and enhance stock availability close to the UK’s biggest market. As part of the wider Forth Ports group, Tilbury is investing in supply chain solutions for customers using its facilities, networks and personnel. A key aim of portcentric logistics is to bring the supply chain closer to the end user. Tilbury is recognised as ‘Britain’s Greenest Port’. By using Tilbury, customers can achieve immediate savings in carbon emissions by reducing road miles compared with other routes.
