La vida de Louie Barletta está rodeada de madera. Rider del team de Globe desde hace más de un año, cuando sus pies no están sobre una tabla, tiene las manos ocupadas construyendo piezas artísticas para las que utiliza pequeños trozos del mismo material. Uno puede pensar que los garajes albergan el lado más oscuro de sus dueños, pero no es el caso. Después del skatepark, es uno de los lugares donde Barletta pasa más tiempo, dando forma a sus piezas de arte. El skate es mi vida. En el momento en que te entra el gusanillo, pasa a ser fundamental. Mi mejor amigo empezó a patinar al mismo tiempo que yo. Él no es tan bueno en esto, pero lo practica cada día después de trabajar y los fines de semana se viene conmigo. Lo importante no es la habilidad, sino el amor que le pones, que hace que sea de por vida. La vida es arte. El skatebording es arte. Todo lo que haces es arte, solo depende de lo que puedas ver como tal. ¿Alguien a quien debemos estar atentos en el mundo del skate? Zack Wallin, él tiene la pasión. Ha pasado más de un año desde que estoy en el team de Globe. En los últimos meses he estado patinando y grabando para un nuevo video Enjoi que saldrá el próximo verano llamado Over Vert. Un día normal para mí es despertarme y llamar a los chicos para saber donde están patinando. Si no encuentro a nadie, voy al skatepark un rato y luego vuelvo a casa, a trabajar en el taller. Lo he construido en nuestro garaje en los últimos años, ahí puedo sentarme y trabajar en pequeños proyectos de madera en mi tiempo libre. He hecho una tabla que utilizo como estantería. En cuanto a lecturas, suelen gustarme los clásicos. Ahora mismo estoy con el Conde de Montecristo de Dumas. Lo he terminado y he vuelto a la primera página para leerlo de nuevo. Me encanta la historia. ¿Mi lado oscuro? Soy un fan secreto de la música gótica. En mis momentos más dark, me gusta sentarme en mi habitación a oscuras, escuchar música heavy como Bauhaus, sintiéndome un poco deprimido y tomando absenta. ¿Si soy una persona de día o de noche? De noche, absolutamente. Una velada nocturna perfecta para mí incluye un poco de bebida, un poco de música y un poco de amor.
Louie Barletta’s life is surrounded by wood. He has been Globe’s team rider for more than a year and when his feet are not on a table he keeps his hands busy building art forms with the same material. One might think that garages play host the darkest side of their owners but this is not the case. The skatepark is where Barletta spends most of his time, giving form to his art pieces. Skating is my life. The second you get the bug that’s it. My best friend started skating when I did but he is not so good at it. However, everyday after work he still goes out skating and always skates with me on the weekends. It’s not the skills, it’s the love for it that makes you a lifer. Life is art. Skateboarding is art. Everything you do is art. It is whether or not you can see it as an art form. People you should be aware of in the skate scene? Zack Wallin, he has the passion. It’s been more than a year since I’ve joined the Globe team. In the last few months I have been skating and filming for a new Enjoi video that is going to drop next summer called Over Vert. A regular day for me would be waking up and calling the boys and seeing where everyone is skating. If nobody is skating I hit the skatepark for a little session then head home and work in the wood shop. Over the years I built a little woodworking shop in our garage, and so when I have time off I sit and do little wood projects. One of those was a skateboard that I use as a bookshelf. When it comes to reading, I usually stick to classics. Right now I’m totally into The Count of Monte Cristo by Dumas. I’ve finished it once already and have just gone right back to the first page and started all over again. I love that story. My dark side? I’m a secret goth music fan, so I guess when I go to my dark side I like to sit in my room in the dark, listening to dark heavy music like Bauhaus, being slightly depressed, drinking absinthe. Day person or night person? I’m a night person for sure. A perfect night for me would include a little drink, a little music, and a little loving.
