OUR MISSION: Helping people with developmental disabilities lead productive, happy lives and connecting with the human spirit in us all
Dear Friends,
Growth is at the heart of everything we do at Lambs Farm. Every day, we witness the power of opportunity—whether it’s a participant becoming more confident in a new role, a staff member discovering innovative ways to provide support, or a visitor connecting with our mission in a meaningful way. Together, we create an environment where individuals can learn, thrive, and build a bright future.
This year, participants stepped out of their comfort zones and achieved things they thought they couldn’t. They embraced exciting challenges at work— strengthening their skills, gaining confidence, and taking on new responsibilities. They formed friendships, navigated daily responsibilities, and dove into new experiences that enriched their lives. Exploratory classes and enrichment programs provided creative outlets, and wellness initiatives fostered a commitment to health and well-being.
Each success is a testament to the power of perseverance and proves our unwavering belief that everyone has something valuable to contribute. Mastering a new task at work, expressing creativity in the art studio, competing in Special Olympics, or simply sharing moments of joy with friends—every achievement reflects the spirit of Lambs Farm.
We are deeply grateful for our dedicated staff, generous supporters, and, most of all, the inspiring individuals we serve. Thank you for being part of our journey and for believing in our mission. Your support makes all this possible. Together, we are building a brighter future.
With heartfelt gratitude,

Kathleen Buresch President & CEO

Building on the legacy of our co-founders, Lambs Farm remains committed to providing robust employment support and opportunities. Our dedicated team assists participants every step of the way—from developing pre-employment skills and navigating job applications to offering job coaching as they transition into fulfilling roles. Whether working in our on-site businesses or contributing to local companies, individuals gain confidence, responsibility, and valuable workplace experience. These opportunities empower participants to build skills, achieve independence, and find a sense of accomplishment on their path to personal and professional growth.
Participants are making remarkable strides in their positions:

Jessica, a talented baker at Sugar Maple Country Store & Bakery, has progressed from sprinkling cookies to preparing dough independently, gaining confidence with each new task.

Ja’Don’s love for plants and dedication have helped the Greenhouse blossom. He’s thriving in his role and making the most of every new opportunity that comes his way.

Michele, a warm and welcoming hostess at Magnolia Cafe & Bakery, is mastering phone orders and the point-of-sale system, enhancing her customer service skills.

Mary brings her cheerful spirit to every shift at Trader Joe’s, engaging with customers and coworkers while embracing the independence her job provides.

Tom and Laura received Employee of the Month awards for their outstanding work at Victory Lakes. They have both been part of an enclave for over two years, developing their kitchen skills and contributing to the team. They handle tasks such as washing and putting away dishes, changing garbage cans, and ensuring the space remains clean and organized.
The Home Based Support Self Direction Assistance program offers individuals with disabilities the opportunity to continue to live with their family or semi-independently with provided support. Self direction assistants help the individual, or the individual’s family or representative, to arrange for, direct and manage services.

This can include:
• Assistance with creating, maintaining and monitoring each client’s annual budget
• Facilitating services and budget for day programs, Independent Service Coordination and behavior services
• Assistance with Division of Rehabilitation Services referrals
• Assistance with completing annual required documents
• Assistance with applying for emergency funding or one-time funding items such as adaptive equipment, home/vehicle modifications or assistive technology

Lambs Farm offers participants a variety of living options, including group homes, individual apartments, an intermediate care facility, and community homes. Wherever they live, participants form strong bonds with their housemates and learn essential life skills such as meal preparation and household management. Here’s a look at what they enjoy doing together and some recent updates!

Whether it’s giving back as a volunteer, enjoying a shopping trip, checking out a museum or relaxing at the spa, participants love exploring their community with their housemates.

From birthdays and holidays to festivals and cozy movie nights, participants and staff always find a reason to celebrate and enjoy their time together.
Green-Field, our intermediate care facility, has been redecorated. With the help of a generous donor and dedicated staff, the space now features calming blue walls, updated furniture, and protective fiberglass wood paneling. Participants added their personal touch by selecting vibrant bedroom door colors, and the animal and floral-themed hallways make the space bright, fun, and easy to navigate. We hosted an open house to give everyone a look at the beautiful final result!

At Lambs Farm, we focus on providing new experiences—key to personal growth and enrichment.
Our art center, LF Studios, empowers participants of all skill levels to create, grow, and even sell their artwork. Whether they’re newcomers or seasoned artists, participants have the chance to explore their passion for art.

Dean, a Lambs Farm participant, was highlighted on WGN’s Spotlight Chicago for his love for the program. Although his physical disabilities have posed challenges in activities like drawing and painting, the introduction of adaptive tools and techniques has given him an inspiring sense of creative freedom.
Since Andy started at LF Studios, he’s discovered a true passion for the arts. He eagerly signs up for several classes each week and is always the first to arrive, ready to get to work. Andy also goes out of his way to help, whether it’s cleaning up or offering support to his classmates and instructors. It’s inspiring to see how much he’s embraced the studio and how proud he is of his artistic growth.
Wynn has really come into her own in the Studio, embracing art like never before. She’s enthusiastic about experimenting with new mediums, tackling different projects, and expressing herself in exciting and creative ways.

From woodworking to cooking, Quest offers a wide range of activities that encourage participants to step outside the box, explore new interests, and find hobbies that spark joy.
After months of rehearsing, Theatre Quest participants performed Where the Wild Things Are for 170 students at Everett Elementary. They also took part in the Lambs Farm Talent Show, showcasing their jokes, dances, and songs. We can’t wait to see their continued growth as our programs expand!

Participants have the opportunity to take classes that teach survival skills, expedition group activities, and Dutch oven cooking, while mastering cool outdoor cooking techniques.
Through trips to local nature centers, forest preserves, and zoos, participants not only explore the beauty of nature but also gain hands-on learning experiences about wildlife, plant life, and environmental conservation.

The Wellness Center, complete with a regulation-sized gym and physical fitness center, gives participants the resources and equipment needed to live a balanced lifestyle. Our dedicated athletes take great pride in competing in the 10+ Special Olympics sports offered year round, and the Healthy Lambs exercise program educates and motivates participants to make their health a priority.

The Lambs Farm dietitian teaches participants the importance of incorporating good habits into their daily routines and how healthy choices help us become the best version of ourselves.

Participants and staff enjoy friendly competition in sports like softball, basketball, bags, and bowling, all while motivating each other to hit their fitness goals and sharing plenty of good laughs along the way.

Participants are enjoying the new addition to our Wellness Center: the Multi-Sensory Environment (MSE)!
Thoughtfully designed to support wellness, relaxation and personal growth, the MSE offers a dynamic space where sensory elements like light, sound, touch and scent can be customized for each individual.
This room opens up a world of possibilities, and we are so grateful to the family of one of our staff members whose generosity made it all possible.

Earlier this year, we officially opened the clubhouse at Lambs Farm. This exciting space is filled with cool games and activities, offering even more ways for participants to relax, unwind, and have fun.
During the grand opening, everyone voted on the name. Club 61 was the winner, which honors the year Lambs Farm was founded.

Participants stay engaged with activities like yoga, arts and crafts, and current events.
Here’s a look at some of the fun and learning happening in the program:
Participants love tapping into the power of music, learning new songs, exploring various instruments, and hosting their own concerts.

Creativity is flourishing as participants explore different artistic mediums and techniques, continually developing their skills.
Fitness is essential at every stage of life, and participants in the Enrichment program maintain their health by spending time in the gym. They enjoy playing games, taking a bike for a spin, walking on the treadmill, or building strength in the weight room.

Every year, generous friends—old and new—come together in support of our two major fundraisers—a spring gala and a summer day of golf. We could not do what we do without these individuals and companies whose event sponsorship and donations make such an impact on our programs and services!

Celebrating the Spirit 2025 was a fantastic night at Cuneo Mansion & Gardens in Vernon Hills, a gorgeous venue much-appreciated by our gala guests. The evening featured dinner, games, a silent and live auction, a golden ticket raffle, and dancing to the music of the fabulous Not for Profit Band. Lambs Farm participant volunteers seated our guests—a new tradition they love! As always, a highlight of the evening was the awards program. We were delighted to honor Lambs Farm family members Lynn & Gwen Lyall with the Spirit of Giving Award. The Casanova Award—named in memory of Vince Casanova to honor his passionate commitment to the men and women of Lambs Farm—was awarded to extraordinary volunteer Anne Mullen, and the Founders Award went to three remarkable participants who found their joyful creative spark at LF Studios— Gina Mork, Wynn Rosengarten, and Bob Stein.
We are immensely grateful to our returning Jubilee Sponsor— Packaging Corporation of America (PCA)—and Celebrate Sponsor Joe & Carol Milburn. A special thank you also to Rejoice Sponsors Alera Group, Nancy & Bob Goerne and Barbara Sheahan, Michael & Toby Liner, Anne Mullen & John Jennnings, and Susan Siebers, and to our Cheer and Toast Sponsors—Abbott, Belmont Bank & Trust, DiVinci Painters, Libertyville Bank & Trust, MarshMcLennan Agency, Uline, Hahn Loeser Attorneys at Law, Pam Diedrich (In Honor of Linda Schuh), Joan Fuller, and Mesirow Financial.
The 40th Annual Lambs Farm Golf Day in Memory of Jack Stein was a wonderful day! As they do every year, our treasured friends turned out to golf with a mission. Held at ThunderHawk Golf Club—a spectacular Robert Trent Jones Jr. course recognized by the Audubon Society as a Signature Sanctuary Course—Golf Day featured morning and afternoon tee times, a lunchtime introduction of the Lambs Farm Golf Team, and a full day of golf ending with afternoon awards and delicious barbeque.
Many thanks to Abbott, our Masters Sponsor and to PCA, our major donor for the event. We are so grateful to them and to our other generous sponsors and donors: Wallace Miller (Shirt Sponsor), Exclusive Woodworking and nuHaus (Pin Flag Sponsor), MedScript LTC Pharmacy (Lunch Sponsor), Libertyville Bank & Trust (Golf Cart Sponsor), MPS Law and Peter Levy (Golf Ball Sponsor), Milburn Demolition (Hat Sponsor), Resnick Auto Group (Bag Sponsor) and Uline (19th Hole Sponsor). We also appreciate the support of our Hole Sponsors: Alera Group, Golder Family Foundation, The Heyn Family, Karen & Jodye Lieberman in Loving Memory of Raymond Lieberman, Paulette & Taylor O’Malley, John Salvino, and Tithof Tile and Marble, Inc.
