Welcome to the 2024-2025 Impact Report, a special issue of the Cross & Crescent presented by the Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation.
In this issue, you’ll learn how contributions from Brothers and friends have shaped the success of our Fraternity and impacted young men today.
What can one gift spark? After writing Lambda Chi Alpha’s Ritual, Dr. John E. “Jack” Mason Jr., Pennsylvania 1913, was an educator until his death in 1946.
In his will, Brother Mason left a gift to Lambda Chi Alpha worth $2,500 to benefit current and future Brothers joining the Fraternity. In 1968, that gift became the Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation.
Lambda Chi Alpha is the only fraternity whose spiritual founder also served as its first charitable donor to establish its nonprofit foundation.
Thanks to Brother Mason’s seed gift, we are the largest public charity fully dedicated to supporting the Brothers of Lambda Chi.
Thanks to charitable investments from donors, we are helping young men face the challenges of today and find their purpose for tomorrow.
Fraternally,
Katie Kowalski

We’re not just responding to change, we’re shaping the future of fraternities with purpose, data, and measurable impact.
The Future is Bright
Bo Gebbie, Chair, Educational Foundation Board of Directors
Brothers & Friends,
This might be the most exciting time to serve the Educational Foundation.
Over the last five years, we have successfully invested an unprecedented $7.2M in the Fraternity experience through grants and direct aid. During this time, we have had the chance to dream about the future, test a reinvented approach to Fraternity, and reaffirm our founding values.
We express our sincere appreciation for the Brothers, family, and friends who contributed to our mission and share that your donor investments are paying off – Lambda Chi Alpha is the fastest growing men’s IFC fraternity!
Our newest Brothers are taking advantage of the educational opportunities offered by the Fraternity. They’re thinking critically and strategically. They’re resourceful and tech-savvy. The future is bright because we’re providing belonging, character, and competence for the next generation.
As the Foundation engages with both new and faithful donors and the Brothers benefitting from their support, we are learning more about the needs of young men today and the opportunity to provide tens of thousands of men with purpose and connection through our Brotherhood.
For some, it’s an introduction to Lambda Chi Alpha, our core values, what it takes to be an Ideal Man in today’s world and how to fulfill your purpose.
Dan Hartmann, President & CEO, Educational Foundation
For others, it’s a rekindling of the Brotherhood that has shaped their lives, careers, and provided the foundation to start their family, grow their business, and live a full purpose-driven life.
In this 2024-2025 Impact Report, you will find:
• By the Numbers: a look at our overall health and how donor contributions have been utilized.
• Program Highlights: stories of program impact, testimonials and the initiatives that have made a real difference in the Lambda Chi experience.
• Donor Honor Roll: acknowledgment of the Brothers, family, and friends who have joined our Circle of Light donor society.
Few fraternities lead as boldly as Lambda Chi Alpha. Every day, we let the world know that Lambda Chi is different, set apart, and a shining example of what’s possible when we raise our expectations for ourselves and our peers.
We must raise our sights and set the example for generations to come, and our open motto, Naught Without Labor, will be central to our success.
With gratitude in ZAX,
Educational Foundation

Lambda Chi Academy
Lambda Chi Academy is our home for learning.
It comprises three core areas: Ideal Man, Stead Leadership College, and electives. Our learning management system offers a hybrid educational environment through asynchronous learning tracks, Chapter-led and live online sessions led by Alumni and Training Specialists.
Designed to reward learning, Chapters compete for recognition on the Academy Leaderboard, earning points across three divisions for significant prizes that benefit the Chapter.
Connect and Belong
From Association to Initiation and beyond, Members are provided with a home away from home.
Learning is centered on social and experiential activity to maximize the Membership experience.
Learn to Lead
Lambda Chi Alpha is synonymous with leadership. From core to elective modules, Members learn what it takes to be an effective leader within the Fraternity, on campus, and in their communities.
Build a Legacy
Membership within Lambda Chi Alpha doesn’t stop at graduation. Members learn what lifelong Membership entails and will begin building their legacy as an Ideal Man before graduation.
Evolution of the Academy
In 2023, we had only four learning paths, no live sessions, no leaderboard, and a learning platform that was not developed to be Lambda Chi-centric.
Today, we have seven learning journeys, an immediate pipeline of another six for development, live sessions, a leaderboard and a platform that speaks to the Lambda Chi experience.
Learning Support
Training Managers help individual Officers increase their skill level and maximize their potential by utilizing the programs at Stead Leadership College
Training Managers create and lead live and online training sessions, facilitate Officer-specific training at conferences, and hold office hours each week where Officers in need of assistance can sign up for one-on-one attention.
Ideal Man
Ideal Man is a four-year personal and professional skill-building program to maximize the Lambda Chi Alpha Membership experience. Focused on developing Brotherhood, competence, and
character, its mission is to prepare Members for success during and after college.
Ideal Man 1, Developing Myself
Using case studies, practical examples, and a range of Lambda Chi voices, new Members will discover what it means to be a Lambda Chi and an Ideal Man.
Ideal Man 2, Developing My Relationships
From team building to developing deep bonds, Brothers will discover how to maximize their Chapter experience.
Ideal Man 3, Developing My Leadership
Brothers will develop skills employers are seeking by learning the fundamentals of leadership and contributing to projects.
Ideal Man 4, Developing My Future
In harnessing the Lambda Chi network and opportunities the Fraternity offers, Brothers will learn to give back and take control of their future.
EAB
Partnership
To propel our 2030 growth strategy, we’ve partnered with EAB, an industry-leading consulting firm with 40 years of experience and 2,100 educational institution clients.
EAB specializes in enrollment, student success, data and analytics, institutional strategy, access and equity, and advancement solutions.
Through our partnership, Lambda Chi will have access to the latest industry trends while generating new Member leads nationally.
New leads will inform expansion and stimulate recruitment, allowing us to grow existing Chapters while expanding to reach more men on more campuses. Their research includes:
• Rates in which students enter college with mental health issues
• Factors that impact student school choice
• Marketing channels students respond to
Timothy J. Piazza Center Partnership
Established in January 2019 at Penn State, the Piazza Center is a multidisciplinary research facility dedicated to addressing issues within the Greekletter community. It honors Timothy Piazza, a sophomore who tragically lost his life due to hazing.
The Piazza Center’s mission is to provide practitioners, campuses, and headquarters with the evidence needed to enact significant change. The center works closely with Lambda Chi Alpha to enhance student learning. Current projects include:
• The early warning signs of hazing
• The effectiveness of intervention and prevention strategies
• Increasing health and wellness
• Exploring campus student organization and fraternity and sorority accountability and conduct models
Lambda Chi Alpha meets regularly with the Piazza Center to understand trends, identify areas of concern, and improve service provision.
Lambda Chi Alpha continues to explore how research and surveys can help us make datainformed decisions and respond to Chapter needs in a more proactive way.
Our new partnership with the American Institute for Boys and Men (AIBM), the first national organization committed to objective research and policy development to enhance the wellbeing of boys and men, will help us better understand the needs and challenges facing men of all ages today to guide our programming development. Learn more about AIBM by visiting their website at aibm.org
Enabling Service
Young men can be a force for good in society when they have positive mentors to model the way.
They need Lambda Chi Alpha’s most abundant resource: our Alumni Brothers.
Alumni mentoring and support prepares Brothers for their careers, families, and community service.
Your donation to the Educational Foundation invests in programs that foster volunteerism, philanthropy, and financial assistance for our Brothers.
• Volunteer Support: $459,040
• Neville Advisor’s College: $84,217
• Anchor Fund Disaster Aid: $3,500
• Fellowships & Scholarships: $156,940
Volunteer Support
Our Volunteer Support Team consists of five staff members at the Office of Administration devoted to recruiting, training, and supporting High Pis, Alumni Advisors, and Housing Corporation members. By making local Alumni volunteers the primary source for Chapter oversight and providing them with training and support, we can more effectively create and sustain Chapter success.
2025 Neville Advisor’s College
Named in honor of longtime volunteer Ronald A. Neville, Drury ‘69, Neville Advisor’s College is the Fraternity’s premiere volunteer conference.
Aimed at new High Pis and Advisory Board Members, it offers an unrivalled opportunity to learn and develop best practice while building a community of Advisors from across the country.
Neville Advisor’s College prepares volunteers for working with today’s college students and provides them with the tools and resources to support the growth and development of our Members.
To create a welcoming and cohesive environment, delegates were placed in learning cohorts, which supported by an experienced Alumnus, have continued to function. Conference participants learned how to implement techniques for working with Gen Z, join an Advisor Cohort that meets monthly and recruit and train an Advisory Board
Anchor Fund Disaster Aid
Lambda Chi Foundation created the Anchor Fund to provide emergency aid to support Brothers impacted by qualified disasters. Donations to the Anchor Fund directly support emergency aid grants for Brothers affected by a presidentially-declared disaster or emergency.
Brothers with demonstrated financial need as a result of a qualified disaster may receive direct funds for essential needs: food, shelter, medical needs, and employment-critical transportation.
Since the creation of the fund in 2019, we have provided support to 98 Brothers with a total of $47,775 in emergency aid. In 2024, donations to the Anchor Fund provided 7 grants totaling $3,500 to support Brothers affected by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.
Farkas Fellowship
Established in honor of retired Lambda Chi Alpha CEO William T. Farkas, the Farkas Fellowship Program provides opportunities for co-op and internship positions at the Office of Administration, supported by the generous donations made to the William T. Farkas Fellowship Endowment Fund.
In Summer 2024, the Farkas Fellowship program sponsored three new Fellows serving Lambda Chi Alpha and the Office of Administration as part of the Expansion, Marketing, and Operations teams.
Alexander Dauterive, Florida ‘23, Marketing Team
Alex is from Las Vegas, NV and has a bachelor’s degree in advertising and is working on his master’s degree in social media communications. He has served as High Rho and High Theta for his Chapter.
Brooks Helms, Indiana ‘25, Operations Team
Brooks is from Odon, IN and is studying Informatics and Business. Brooks held the role of High Epsilon in his Chapter. Brooks thinks this is a perfect opportunity to see how Lambda Chi Alpha “runs” behind the scenes and used his fellowship experience to help his Chapter’s operations.
Reece Lagerblade, Tennessee Knoxville ‘25, Expansion Team
Reece is from Louisville, KY and is studying business analytics and finance, and he has excelled in various roles such as High Sigma and on the IFC executive board. Reece enjoyed learning, creating, and innovating with the Office of Administration team last summer.
Scholarship Program
In 2024, our program honored 112 deserving Undergraduate Brothers with awards totaling $139,940 for academic and study abroad scholarships. The average award amount was $1,270. More than 100 volunteers gave their time to review 385 applications.

James Chirurg Scholarship Recipient
“Thank you so much for gifting me this scholarship. I have been working my absolute hardest all year to be able to pay for this opportunity while leading our thriving Chapter here at Tarleton State University. Working three jobs while being Chapter President and a full-time student has not been the easiest thing to do, but this scholarship makes all of my hard work pay off.”
Michael Colocado, Oregon State ‘94
Reverend S. George “Doc” & Kira Dirghalli Scholarship Recipient
“I’m honored, humbled, and reflective of who Doc was and the generosity he showed by establishing this scholarship. I first met Doc as an Undergraduate, and later served the Office of Administration and stayed at his home several times during my travels. He encouraged me to apply for my first master’s degree and now his scholarship is helping me pay for a second. It’s been emotional to know that he’s still impacting my life, and I want to ensure the scholarship continues to impact others. Thank you all for this award and for the opportunity to reflect back on a person that has meant so much to me.”
Christian Powell, Buffalo ‘24
Kris Reddy Global Education Scholarship Recipient
“My study abroad experience was a 10-week intensive architecture-based program consisting of sustainability seminars, a design-built park project and studio based in the cloud forest of Monteverde, Costa Rica. My time and coursework were devoted to designing a public park for the municipality of Monteverde and in the region for the Santa Elena Development Association. At the end of the term, we had a grand opening fiesta for the park with the community and stakeholders. I made coastal maps, climate projections, worked and toyed with futuristic sustainable building materials, and studied Spanish! The most important part of my experience was living with my host family where I experienced the best of Costa Rican culture and food. This was easily the best experience that I have had in my life to date and has changed my perspective. I will never forget it!”
Brad Garfinkel, Shippensburg ‘93
Foundation Donor and Scholarship Judge
“Thank you for the opportunity to serve as a Scholarship Judge. The applications brought back a lot of memories of my undergraduate years and also were a good reminder of my own financial challenges. It’s great to see so many solid young men carrying on the Lambda Chi Alpha legacy. As a long-time donor to Lambda Chi Alpha, it was beneficial to understand the financial need for scholarships to support our Undergraduate Brothers. By participating in the application review process, I clearly see the need and my confidence continues to be reinforced with how donor dollars are being utilized.”

Our Brothers are naturally called to lead; to set them up for success in any leadership role, the Fraternity has a suite of programs, including Stead Leadership College, a first of its kind fraternal program training and certifying professional skills for current and future Chapter Officers.
These programs are available at no cost to every Member thanks to the generosity of donors like you to the Educational Foundation.
2025 High Alpha Summit
High Alpha Summit is our premier leadership event. Aimed at the Chapter President (High Alpha), it offers an unrivalled opportunity to build competence and forge connections. Held in Indianapolis in early January, the event encourages attendees to develop and foster the skills and support systems needed to improve their leadership and the functioning of their Chapter.
By the end of the conference, participants were able to forge connections across the High Zeta; write, execute, and support a plan that drives Chapter operations; and understand how to utilize Ideal Man to onboard Associate Members and Stead Leadership College to train core High Zeta Officers.
Chapter Challenge
During the 2024 High Alpha Summit, the Learning Support team launched the Chapter Challenge – an innovative simulation that immerses participants in the highs and lows of running a Chapter.
In teams of six, participants respond to a series of challenges and escalating events, while at the same time balancing success factors such as GPA, income, and reputation. Supported by a moderator, they reflect on their decision making and adjust their plans. Utilizing the power of experiential learning, the Chapter Challenge deliberately uses practice and reflection to increase retention and embed.
Learning Support has refined the Chapter Challenge and produced a High Pi-led, in-Chapter experience.
60th General Assembly and 2024 Stead Leadership Seminar
The General Assembly and Stead Leadership Seminar is a three-day gathering of Collegiate and Alumni Brothers. The General Assembly is the legislative body of Lambda Chi Alpha that deliberates and votes on proposals to change our laws and that elects members of the Grand High Zeta. Our laws require that 75% of the voting power at any General Assembly must be held by our Undergraduate Members.
Stead Leadership Seminar is an educational experience designed to help our men grow and develop personally and professionally. In the Summer of 2024, High Kappas were invited to attend and received training on roster and finance management, introducing them to new programs and tools to facilitate and implement their system. They gained skills from the Essentials in Finance credential in Stead Leadership College and shared best practices and ideas with other attendees.
Stead Leadership College
Stead Leadership College is the fraternal world’s first competency-based skill certification, offering self-paced learning that correlates the Chapter Officer experience with managing a small business.
Hosted on Lambda Chi Academy, the Fraternity’s learning platform, each Stead Leadership College certification course spans seven weeks. Upon completion, Brothers receive a digital credential— tangible, shareable proof of their leadership and professional skills.
Aimed at current and future Chapter Officers, the College prepares Brothers to serve on the Chapter’s management team (High Zeta), builds capability within Chapters, and acts as a bridge between campus and career. It comprises two learning journeys: Leadership Ready and Role Ready.
Elective learning paths focusing on supporting High Pis and Advisors, Health and Wellness, Ritual, American Red Cross, ChapterSpot (roster management) and greekbill (finance management) are on the development roadmap.
Leadership Ready – Aspiring to Future Leadership
Leadership Ready is a learning course for any Member with aspirations to hold a leadership role in their Chapter. Using the Stead Leadership College tab, any Member can complete this track and be equipped to run for Officer positions.
Leadership Ready encourages a Member to first take stock of their own skills and flaws and use his Brotherhood to strengthen these traits. Support and mentorship from senior Brothers in tandem with the course allows for the best growth.
Role Ready – Excelling as a Chapter Officer
Currently, the Role Ready training has five learning journeys available for Chapter Officers: Leading Teams (High Alpha), Essentials in Finance (High Tau), Recruiting & Sales (High Delta), Learning & Development (High Kappa), and Social Responsibility (High Theta). This year, the Fraternity is developing new learning paths for the High Beta and High Iota.
From understanding the role of a leader to learning the skills to motivate and lead a team, Brothers learn what it means to be a member of the High Zeta.
Skills Credentials – Social Proof for Employers
After successfully completing Leadership Ready and Role Ready, Brothers receive a digital credential. Brothers can use the credential to showcase their skills and achievements on LinkedIn, improve their resumes, and refer to it when communicating with hiring managers.
IN ACTION Learning
“Attending the High Alpha Summit was a transformative experience. Connecting with fellow Chapter Presidents, learning from fraternity leaders, and gaining leadership insights has strengthened my passion for Lambda Chi Alpha. The support from the Office of Administration has been invaluable in helping us build a strong foundation. As a new Chapter, we are creating traditions, fostering Brotherhood, and making a lasting impact on campus.“
Adam Kapustka, Nebraska Lincoln ‘28
“It was an incredible experience where I connected with representatives from Chapters across the country, discussed key challenges like recruitment and engagement, and learned from leadership specialists about the essentials of maintaining a strong Chapter, including financial education and effective communication. One theme that truly resonated with me was vulnerability. Brothers, myself included, openly shared their concerns and aspirations for their Chapters, fostering an environment of honesty and growth. These candid discussions underscored the strength that comes from unity and mutual support.”
Andrew Mercantini, Cornell ‘27
HIGH ALPHA SUMMIT
“[High Alpha Summit] offered me powerful insights, inspiring speakers, as well as valuable connections that helped reinforce the importance of purpose-driven leadership and continuous growth to bring back to my chapter.”
Grayson Keistler, North Carolina Charlotte ‘26
“This conference [High Alpha Summit] has given me the confidence and skills to lead my Chapter to success. While there, I learned about general finance, the influence of leadership, and balancing the opinions of others while making key decisions. I have also developed crucial skills in building a plan and working in a team.”
William Guthrie, Samford ‘26
“When I first heard about Lambda Chi Academy, I saw it as an opportunity for personal growth. Through working in the Stead Leadership College, I have been able to receive feedback from facilitators to help me identify areas that need improvement which has allowed me to work on articulating myself more diligently while communicating with others.”
Jack Schultheis, Arkansas ‘26, after earning the 1,000th credential from Stead Leadership College
“This Fraternity has been a cornerstone of my college experience, shaping me as a leader and a person, I’m excited for the opportunity to give back to the Brotherhood that has given me so much.”
Stojan Gradistanac, Drexel ‘27
CHAPTER CHALLENGE BUSINESS SIMULATION
“One of my favorite parts of the conference was the Chapter Challenge. I was placed into a group with some of my Brothers, and we were tasked with running a model Chapter and returning it to its former glory. This experience was valuable to me because it forced me to develop my communication and critical thinking skills to solve the challenges thrown at my team.”
Nathaniel Griffin, Tennessee-Knoxville ‘28
“The [Chapter Challenge] really gives students an opportunity to reflect on the whole fraternal experience and assess the quality of that experience. What an investment in helping students learn, lead, and intervene!”
Steve Veldkamp, Director, Timothy J. Piazza Center for Fraternity and Sorority Research

DONOR HONOR ROLL Circle of Light
With gratitude, the Educational Foundation wishes to recognize the Brothers and friends who joined the Circle of Light donor society with their annual giving of $250 or more to the We Believe Fund and the Fraternity’s greatest areas of need between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024.
The many generous donors on this list are sorted first by Chapter and then by their respective Circle of Light annual giving level.
Circle of Light donors are recognized in the annual Donor Honor Roll printed in the Cross & Crescent magazine. Their philanthropy allows the Educational Foundation to fund the Fraternity’s greatest areas of need to inspire and equip men to lead an ethical life of growth, service, and leadership.

“The story of the Bridge Builder reminds us of the vital moral lesson of paying it forward to the Brothers who come after us. To truly embody our ideals, we must support one another, and I believe the Educational Foundation plays a crucial role in that effort. I joined Mason’s Circle to uphold the beliefs every Lambda Chi should embrace. The belief in encouraging our Actives and Alumni to support our greater mission of developing better men.”

“We as Brothers have an obligation not only to the Inner Circle, but also to the Outer Circle of the world. Donations to the Educational Foundation are extremely important in carrying out this mission. Undergraduate leadership training and other programs give our young Brothers the tools they need to uphold our oaths and obligations—and by our actions, make society a better place.”
CHALLENGE 2025
Save the Date for our 5th annual Founders’ Day Challenge | November 2-3, 2025
Celebrate Founders’ Day and 116 years of Brotherhood through our annual fundraising competition between Chapter teams.
Dollars raised benefit the Brothers of Lambda Chi and fund officer training, conferences, programs, scholarships, disaster relief, volunteer support, and more. Your donation is tax-deductible and funds 100% of educational program costs. Visit lambdachifoundation.org/fdc to make your donation by November 3, 2025.
Chapters compete in 3 divisions for top participation (donors) and impact (dollars). Top teams will receive a trophy and special recognition during High Zeta Summit, and are listed in the Cross & Crescent, and on social media.
Winners will be announced on Tuesday, November 4, 2025!
Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation could not accomplish our mission without the support of volunteers. As we prepare for our 2025 Founders’ Day Challenge, we are looking for Ambassadors to share our mission, engage with their network of Brothers and friends, and contribute to the future of Lambda Chi Alpha.
For information on how to get involved, visit lambdachifoundation.org, email the Foundation team at foundation@lambdachi.org, or call (317) 803-7357.
