he essence of the tradition of our territory is a mixture of faith, tradition, folklore and popular religiosity. The patronal festivities that have filled the summer, even if in reduced format because of Covid, continue throughout the month of September. It is like a passing of the baton, from one village to another, in reviving ancient traditions, and stopping time for a few days. So also this year Sannicola, Collepasso and other towns of Salento are getting ready to celebrate the Madonna delle Grazie, with many occasions for guests and tourists to know better the traditions of our territory, reduced but equally authentic.

he Vermentino Li Cuti was born in the 80's from an experiment conducted with the scholar Giovanni De Rinaldis. This vine here, in the IonianGallipolitan arc, has found favorable soil and microclimate. The intuition came to Carlo Antonio Coppola from the memory of the vineyards of Châteauneufdu-Pape, in the lower Rhône area of France, which he visited in 1952, characterized by a very pebbly soil. The experts Antonio Calò and Angelo Costacurta praised the Vermentino Li Cuti in their volume "Dei Vitigni Italici". Try it as a fresh aperitif.

Spaghetti alla pizzaiola
Ingredients: Cantina Coppola extra virgin olive oil, anchovies, tomato sauce, garlic, capers, salt, pepper Prepare a pan with oil, a clove of garlic and anchovies and fry. Add the tomatoes and, once cooked, the capers, letting everything season. In the meantime cook the spaghetti, obviously al dente, sautĂŠ them in a pan with the seasoning. After having left them to rest for a few minutes you can plate them and, if you like, you can add pepper.

annicola, a town just a stone's throw from Gallipoli, is preparing, albeit without the pomp and circumstance of past years, to welcome tourists and the curious on the occasion of its celebration. The heart of the town is the large Piazza della Repubblica with, at the corner, the staircase that announces the church of the Madonna delle Grazie, the centre of the feast. Built on the ruins of a church dedicated to St. Nicholas, inside there are some particularly valuable paintings, some of which have recently been restored. Before its name, Sannicola had the name of Rodogallo, the country of beautiful roses. It is an authentic village immersed in the Salento hinterland that these days dresses up as a feast.
