THE MYTHS OF THE FOUNTAIN: DIRCE
T
he Greek Fountain of Gallipoli was not only a source of water. On it are carved three myths of antiquity, all connected to water. The first one we tell you about is that of Dirce, Lico's wife, who welcomed her granddaughter Antiope into the house and treated her as a slave. The latter had two children, saved by a shepherd after Lico tried to kill them by exposing them to beasts. Tired of being mistreated, Antiope escaped from her aunt's house and managed to find her children who, in order to take revenge for what they had suffered, killed Lico and Dirce. The latter, however, was pardoned by Dionysus, who turned her into a spring near Thebes.

10:00 - 12:00 17:30 - 19:00 Il Rocci di Cantina Coppola, the first ever white Negroamaro, was born in 2006 from the intuition of Carlo Antonio Coppola and the oenologist Giuseppe Pizzolante Leuzzi, who were convinced that the peculiar organoleptic characteristics of the Negroamaro could also give white wine making a structure of great impact. The first vintages were bottled as Vino da Tavola, since no DOC and IGT wine was used to make Negroamaro in white. Later the denomination of IGT Puglia was obtained. Today among our most appreciated IGTs.

Ingredients for 1/2 kg of pasta: 10 tomatoes, rocket, garlic, chili, salt, extra-virgin olive oil Cantina Coppola Wash the rocket and cut it not too small. Pour some Cantina Coppola extra virgin olive oil into the pan adding the garlic, start frying it, add the tomatoes cut in half and cook for ten minutes. After cooking the pasta, pass it in the pan to add it to the sauce. Before cooking, add the rocket and some chilli pepper. A dish with strong flavors, excellent if prepared with fresh products.
CHURCH AND CONVENT OF SANTA TERESA

t can be regarded as one of the most beautiful churches in Gallipoli, an example of the Baroque. The church of Santa Teresa, in the historical centre of Gallipoli, is a small wonder made of polychrome marbles, majolica floor, decorations in Lecce stone and an extraordinary care of the spaces. The church, commissioned by Bishop Perez de la Lastra and built between 1687 and 1690, is flanked by the cloistered nuns' convent of the same name. It seems almost as if the two buildings are trying to hide, being at the end of the street that runs along the faรงade of the cathedral. And yet, once you cross the entrance threshold, you are enchanted.
Events > The historical centre of Gallipoli is full of museums and places to visit, not to make a simple walk. Along Via Antonietta De Pace, the main street of the old town, you will find the Diocesan Museum, the Sala Coppola, the Sea Museum, the Municipal Library and the Civic Museum. You can enter for free by showing your bracelet (promotion not valid for the Diocesan Museum). The museums are almost all open until midnight. You can find the exact opening hours on the last page.
