IT’S NEVER TOO EARLY FOR CHRISTMAS
T
o say that in Gallipoli it is never too early for Christmas is not a euphemism: the first useful date to breathe, at least ideally, the Christmas air is 15 October. On St. Teresa's day you can listen to the first "Pastorale", the typical Christmas singsong, and you can taste the first "pittule", the dish par excellence of the festivities. It is not rare that these two activities take place by the sea, but they do. Next stops are November 22nd with the feast of Santa Cecilia, November 30th with Sant'Andrea, December 8th with the Immacolata, December 13th with Santa Lucia and then Christmas. For each of these days the same script: pittulè, baccalà and pastoral.

10:00 - 12:00 17:30 - 19:00 Il Rocci di Cantina Coppola, the first ever white Negroamaro, was born in 2006 from the intuition of Carlo Antonio Coppola and the oenologist Giuseppe Pizzolante Leuzzi, who were convinced that the peculiar organoleptic characteristics of the Negroamaro could also give white wine making a structure of great impact. The first vintages were bottled as Vino da Tavola, since no DOC and IGT wine was used to make Negroamaro in white. Later the denomination of IGT Puglia was obtained. Today among our most appreciated IGTs.

Pittule alla pizzaiola
Ingredients: 500gr of white flour, cherry tomatoes, pitted black olives, capers, an onion parsley, salt, chilli, extra virgin olive oil Cantina Coppola Prepare the batter with flour and sparkling water. Fry the tomatoes cut into small pieces with oil, onion and at the end add the capers and black olives. Add the soffritto to the batter and stir well. Once mixed everything take some spoonfuls of batter, pour them in oil over medium heat and fry until the pittule are golden brown. Place them on absorbent paper and enjoy them hot.

ocated on the Nazario Sauro Riviera in the historic centre of Gallipoli, the Church of St. Dominic, better known as the Church of the Rosary, is one of the largest and oldest in the city. The church has an external faรงade facing the sea, a common aspect with others that, although built in different periods, are located along the walls. Attached to the church is the cloister, once the seat of the Dominican convent and now a cultural centre. The beating heart of the church is the confraternity, which organises religious events throughout the year. The baroque, in its Gallipoli variant, is immediately noticeable especially once inside, richly decorated.
Events > The historical centre of Gallipoli is full of museums and places to visit, not to make a simple walk. Along Via Antonietta De Pace, the main street of the old town, you will find the Diocesan Museum, the Sala Coppola, the Sea Museum, the Municipal Library and the Civic Museum. You can enter for free by showing your bracelet (promotion not valid for the Diocesan Museum). The museums are almost all open until midnight. You can find the exact opening hours on the last page.
