Jon Sistiaga Irunen jaio zen 1967an. Kazetaritzako lizentzia eskuratu zuen Euskal Herriko Unibertsitateko (UPV-EHU) Informazio Zientzien Fakultatean eta El País egunkariarentzat egin zituen lehenbiziko lanak. Ikerketa-erreportajeak egin ditu munduko leku ugaritan, Honduras, Ruanda, Ipar Irlanda, Israel, Kosovo eta Iraken, adibidez; lan horien guztien ardatza milioika laguni eragiten dieten gatazkak zuzenean kontatzea da. Kazetaritzako alor horretan egindako lan zabalagatik, 2011tik Canal + katearentzat egindako hileko erreportajeengatik, hain zuzen ere, informazioestaldura onenaren Ondas saria irabazi zuen 2012an. Aurten beste proiektu bat jarri du martxan, W!TNESS, bere istorio onenen erakustoki bat; han bilduko ditu film laburrak, dokumentalak, erreportajeak, kanpainak eta eragin birala izan duten lanak. Nacido en Irún en 1967 y licenciado en Periodismo por la facultad de Ciencias de la Información de la Universidad del País Vasco (UPV-EHU), Jon Sistiaga comenzó trabajando para el diario El País. Ha realizado reportajes de investigación en múltiples lugares del mundo, todos ellos con un denominador común, la narración de primera mano de los conflictos que afectan a millones de personas en países como Honduras, Ruanda, Irlanda del Norte, Israel, Kosovo o Irak entre otros. Por su larga labor en este campo periodístico ganó en 2012 el Premio Ondas a la mejor cobertura informativa por la serie de reportajes mensuales que ha venido realizando para Canal+ desde 2011. Este año ha puesto en marcha su próximo proyecto, W!TNESS, un espacio dónde se muestran, una selección de las mejores historias que merecen la pena ser contadas, ya sean cortos, documentales, reportajes, campañas o virales. Entre sus últimos reportajes cabe destacar Ruanda. Cómo organizar un genocidio; La caza al homosexual; En la ciudad del fin del mundo y el documental que se proyectará en ZINEBI 56 La mara vida.
Born in Irún (1967) and with a degree in Journalism from the Information Sciences faculty of the University of the Basque Country, Jon Sistiaga started out working for the newspaper El País. He has made several investigative reports in numerous areas around the world; all of these reports have a single common denominator: to share firsthand information on the conflict suffered by millions of people in places such as Honduras, Rwanda, Northern Ireland, Israel, Kosovo or Iraq, among others. In recognition of his long career in this field, he obtained the Ondas Award in 2012 for best information coverage, for the series of monthly reports he has been directing for Canal+ since 2011. This year, he started a new project: W!TNESS, a space broadcasting a selection of stories – short films, documentaries, reports, campaigns or viral videos – that are worth sharing. Among his last reports, we can highlight Ruanda. Cómo organizar un genocidio (Rwanda. How to organise a genocide); La caza al homosexual (Hunting the homosexual); En la ciudad del fin del mundo (In the city at the end of the world) and the documentary La mara vida (Gang life), which will be screened at ZINEBI 56.
