This assignment was to create an image book from a single subject using a variety of image making. I used digital drawing and painting, 3-dimensional construction, photography and photoshop. The images were put into a book implementing compositional hierarchies.
I wanted to create a fun mountain book with each spread having a different feel and look. All the photos and object images are mine, including the reworked photo of the mountain and moon used on the front and back cover.
The first spread has space between the images and emphasizes that water in the western United States is often sparce. It shows how we rely heavily on the snowpack for water content. I empathized the gray tones in the cloud spread. I constructed images with black and white materials and the photos were desaturated in Photoshop. The colorful spread represents a feeling of joy when in the mountains and the infinite colors of nature. The figure form spread shows the vastness and texture of mountain typography.
