The Emperor Penguin March Predicting the weather is far from an exact science. You can listen to a meteorologist who is wrong 60% of the time or use other indicators from nature. I base my winter snowfall predictions on the time Emperor Penguins march to their breeding grounds in Antarctica. It was early April this year, a good ski season should therefore be had. But given the reality of the last few months, I am just grateful for any ski season at all. As Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Treble Cone and Cardrona prepare to open we should acknowledge and be thankful for local private ownership of these strategic assets. Can you imagine if Air NZ still owned NZSki, or Cardrona was still in Aussie hands? Do you think they would be pulling out all the stops to open to local and domestic custom with uncertainty around every corner? I think not. It is pretty darn expensive preparing a ski field for opening day. Ski Season 2020 could have been mothballed completely if left to outside forces. That would have been an unmitigated disaster for Queenstown. Local ski field owners who are part of our community understand the value and importance of this economic asset and driver of winter business to Queenstown. Just like the trading partners who paid their bills on time these last few months, and locals who chose to spend their precious money in our shops and restaurants, the efforts of the “big end of town”, as big business is sometimes called by small business, should also be remembered when the dust settles on this monumental economic shakedown.
Premiership rugby is back. The defending champions, Arrowtown Bulls play the Wakatipu Premiers at Jack Reid Park on Saturday 27 June at 230pm.
Without a ski season we would all be in a far less optimistic mood. The economic benefit of the ski industry spreads far beyond the slopes. Retailers, hospitality, and accommodation providers rely on those mountains being open. Every business in town does directly or indirectly. So next time you accuse the big end of being all about self-interest, think again. Not only do ski fields open for business give the town an economic lifeline, but also the social occasion only skiing and snowboarding can offer. The morale boost of being on the mountain - sharing the passion, re-acquainting ourselves with old friends, talking, connecting, and supporting. The prospect of uncrowded powder days. This should see far more locals than ever before bringing the old ski gear out of the shed. If business is not quite as good as we would hope, at least we have Coronet Peak to escape to for a few hours. On a beautiful blue bird winters day, stopping to look out over the Wakatipu and taking in a big deep breath of fresh mountain air. I think we all need that as much as dollars in cash registers. Miranda Spary is a tired, old, has been columnist that we feel sorry for. She used to write a weekly book column in the old Queenstown Times which was read more for the local gossip in it than the book part. She is quite lazy and very grateful if readers send in ideas about what’s been happening locally on miranda@queenstown.co.nz
Thanks for all the emails and phone calls and face to face comments about last week’s column - it seems that at first everyone was so delighted about the good news, but the infuriating cockup with the so-called isolation programme has suddenly got everyone enraged about everything the ridiculously expensive and useless airport report, the ORC’s decision to get rid of the one person who seemed to care about water quality, and more and more messages about the littering of the Wakatipu with pointless road decorations. It made me take notice on my next walk and the three photos were taken within just a few hundred metres of each other on the Lake Hayes corner, so I totally see the problem, and we are still no closer to working out what those red and white posts (handily featuring in 2 of the photos) taking over our world are actually for, or what it costs to buy, install and keep them weedfree. Nor do we know why the Millbrook sign is pointing straight into the lake, or what the picture of the goldminer means. Can we camp irresponsibly in front of the green sign? As for the testing sign???? Grrr.. can’t someone get rid of them all? Enough of the moaning - I’ve just had a very exciting phone call from Jane Litten to say that the Arty Facts online listing for all cultural events has received some funding so they can carry on keeping everyone up to date with what’s going on in the Wakatipu. And if you are organising an excellent happening, DO let them know - you can’t sell something in secret, as the late, great Howard Patterson used to say. With all the stress the virus is putting us all under, there’s nothing like a bit of art-fuelled escapism for a big hit of feelgood, whether it’s music or dance or theatre or a thrilling book or painting. All artists need audiences, and all audiences need artists - support each other. Needless to say, the Lakes Weekly Bulletin is the best platform for info on local entertainment of all varieties, cultural and otherwise... I’ve been doing my bit to support local businesses - I bought a new light coloured jersey, then went into town for lunch in my new jersey, spilt all my food down the front, and took it into the drycleaners. I was so annoyed with myself until the drycleaners pointed out how accidentally helpful my sloppiness had been. Even though there are lots of people in town, businesses like theirs have been hit really hard - with no weddings or parties or hotel guests for so long, there was no call for drycleaning as we all slobbed around in our trackpants and sweatshirts (some people have reported more than one day spent in PJs and slippers and for a small fee, I will not mention their names).

Air New Zealand has given Queenstown a welcome boost as it prepares for the start of the 2020 ski season this Friday The national airline will increase the capacity on the Queenstown-Auckland route for most of July - using its larger A321neo aircraft on 140 return services between June 29-July 26. It will have more capacity than in did during the school holidays last year. The announcement came as the resort gears up for the ski season, with a few nights of heavy snowfall and the snow guns blasting at Coronet Peak. Coronet opens this Friday, June 26th, while The Remarks will open from Saturday, July 4, for two weeks during school holidays, then weekends throughout the season. Cardrona ski field also opens on June 26. Treble Cone, near Wanaka, opens Saturday, June 27. But it will be a few weeks before skiers and snowboarders at The Remarks are able to access the Sugar Bowl basin or the terrain parks. NZSki ski field boss Ross Lawrence, in a Facebook video update, says the new chairlift won’t be ready in time. “We’ve been waiting on a rope splicer to arrive in New Zealand from Austria to finish the cable for the new lift. Splicing is a specialised technique to create an endless rope and there are only a few people in the world skilled to do this - we’ve been working really hard to get him to NZ! “He was granted special permission to enter the country and is now in managed isolation for a couple of weeks before coming to Queenstown to splice the rope. We’ll then have a few weeks commissioning and testing the lift before we can open it. “This does mean for the first few weeks of the season there won’t be access to the Sugar Bowl basin or the terrain parks. Depending on snow levels we are hoping to set up some small features somewhere along main Curvey Basin trail or down on Alta Green.” The need for managed isolation was underlined last week however, with the Government facing heavy criticism for its handling of border controls. There were seven new cases of Covid-19 last week, all linked to the border, including two women who were given a compassionate exemption to leave managed isolation to visit their dying mother. They were not tested before leaving the facility. In more positive news, Queenstown’s iconic steamship the TSS Earnslaw will sail again in early July. The 107-year-old ship, one of the symbols of the tourist town, was docked at Steamer Wharf on Lake Wakatipu throughout the Covid-19 lockdown. But owner Wayfare has announced it is relaunching many of its businesses, including the Earnslaw and Queenstown’s Go Orange Jet Boats, on July 4 in time for the school holidays. There will be major price reductions and the company’s ‘kids go free’ promotion will run throughout winter.

Queenstown housing project fast-tracked
Government takes over migrant welfare
A housing and retail development on the former Wakatipu High School site could get planning consent in just 45 days.
Queenstown’s welfare system for helping migrants is set to change from July 1.
Ngāi Tahu Property intends to build 300 homes on the Gorge Road site, along with shops and other buildings.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters yesterday announced a $37.6 million Assistance for Foreign National programme to help those impacted by Covid-19.
Stage one of the Te Pā Tāhuna development is one of 11 projects across New Zealand that will be fast-tracked under temporary planning laws, Environment Minister David Parker announced. It will create 100 construction jobs. The site has already been cleared and Ngāi Tahu Property had appointed civil construction company Downer to carry out the infrastructure work. The firm was moving its machinery on to the site in the middle of March, with was expected to begin work by the end of March, but by then a national state of emergency had been declared and the country was in level four lockdown. Notified applications for resource consents usually take on average around four to six months to process, depending on the complexity, significance and the level of contention involved. The new fast track processes are likely to take 45 to 70 working days. The COVID-19 Recovery (Fast-track) Bill will be introduced In the House later this week. Other projects include Auckland Harbour Bridge’s ‘Skypath’, Wellington Metro Upgrade programme, and Picton Ferry Dock and Terminal upgrade. “The Bill also opens the way for other projects to be fast tracked to help deliver faster economic growth and more jobs as soon as possible,” Parker said. “Job rich infrastructure and development projects of different sizes and in different locations around New Zealand will be prioritised. “Extraordinary times sometimes require extraordinary measures. However, positive environmental outcomes will not be sacrificed at the expense of speed. While these projects are being advanced in time, environmental safeguards remain. Part 2 of the Resource Management Act including the recognition of matters of national importance, will continue to apply.” The new Bill allows for projects to proceed through a fast track consenting process On the first track are the 11 Government-led projects specified in the legislation and assessed as suitable for the fast-track process. They range from roads to cycleways, rail upgrades, water storage, and housing developments and have the potential to provide an estimated 1250-plus jobs. Once the Bill passes these projects will be referred directly to Expert Consenting Panels, which will set appropriate conditions on the projects before they can proceed. Expert consenting panels will have similar powers to consenting authorities under the RMA. The fast track law is a short term intervention that will self-repeal in two years.
Like the system run by Queenstown Lakes District Council’s Civil Defence and Emergency Management (CDEM) Group and volunteers, it will fund emergency food, accommodation, utilities, medication, winter clothing and bedding, and other help. Queenstown’s effort has so far helped more than 7,500 people. But not the council’s team will hand over the reigns to Central Government. The new will be administered by the Department of Internal Affairs and delivered by a community-based NGO. It will run for three months. “There are a number of foreign nationals in New Zealand on temporary visas who, due to COVID19, have found themselves in a tight spot,” said Mr Peters. “Nearly 60,000 foreign nationals have departed New Zealand since March. “We have been working with foreign missions since April asking them to assist their citizens, including with repatriation efforts, and the New Zealand Government has an expectation that they provide ongoing support for their citizens.” Peters said that foreign nationals should be seeking to depart New Zealand as soon as possible if they cannot support themselves here, and should contact their embassy, high commission or consulate for assistance in the first instance. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade will continue to work closely with foreign missions to help them provide consular support for their citizens who remain in New Zealand.” They estimate there are 20,000 migrants experiencing serious hardship. Where returning home isn’t immediately possible, assistance will be provided under the Programme to temporary visa holders where it has been established that: • the person is experiencing serious hardship, and • all other avenues of potential support have been exhausted, such as access to savings or other assets, insurance cover, consular assistance from their own foreign missions, or help from family and friends. • this assistance mirrors support a number of countries have given to New Zealand citizens. The Department of Internal Affairs is currently identifying a suitable provider and an announcement on who that is will be made soon. Under the new Programme, assistance may be provided for: • food and household goods required to meet urgent and immediate needs • blankets, hot water bottles and basic clothing to meet urgent and immediate needs • over-the-counter medication to meet urgent and immediate needs • accommodation (including rent, boarding costs and rent arrears) • utilities (electricity, gas). Excludes internet and broadband connection and plans • if required, pre-paid phone cards to enable emergency communication and communication with consulate/embassy • petrol/travel (limited to travel required to shift to new location for employment purposes or to airport to leave New Zealand). • no cash payments will be offered.

Air NZ boosts Queenstown capacity for School Holidays Air New Zealand is super-sizing its capacity on the Queenstown-Auckland route this July school holidays due to demand. The national airline will ‘upguage’ its 140 return services between June 29 and July 26 - using the larger A321neo aircraft rather than the A320. That means it will have more capacity than the same period last year. Air NZ General Manager Networks Scott Carr said. “We’ll add capacity of all of our other main trunk routes – from Auckland to Wellington, Dunedin and Queenstown, as well from Wellington to Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown through either extra flights or by upgauging to larger aircraft,” Carr says.
Airport report ‘waste of money’ Anti-airport expansion pressure groups have weighed in on the MartinJenkins report to Queenstown’s council. The Wellington consultants’ 236-page report was released on Wednesday. Read it here. It estimates the social and economic impact of four hypothetical scenarios. In the first, the status quo is maintained. The second sees noise boundaries at Queenstown Airport expanded. The third sees the noise boundaries expanded at Queenstown Airport and the Wanaka Airport upgraded to take narrow-body jet services, while the fourth imagines a new international airport built within two hours drive of Queenstown, opening in 2035.
“This is great news for tourism and those wanting to hit the slopes.”
Wanaka Stakeholders Group Inc, which has been at the forefront of a bitter fight to stop expansion of the airports, says the report is an inappropriate waste of $214,000 of taxpayers’ money

WSG chair, Michael Ross, speaking on behalf of its claimed 3,425 members, says: “The report tells us nothing we don’t already know.
“This is just what the doctor ordered for our resort town which has been the worst affected district in New Zealand as a result of Covid-19,” Walker says. “This will give businesses some confidence to keep staff employed to handle this upcoming demand. “Queenstown remains the jewel in our country’s tourism crown as more kiwis are travelling to the south to make the most of our piece of paradise. “With ski fields due to open at the end of June, kiwis are clearly keen to hit the slopes and support our local economy which is still very much hurting following the Covid-19 lockdown.” Air NZ will also add a number of extra services to its regional routes, before the end of the school term on July 3. Yesterday, Crowne Plaza Queenstown hotel rolled out the red carpet to welcome its first conference business post Covid. The lakefront hotel was originally scheduled to re-open in July to welcome domestic travellers for the school holidays and ski season. Instead it opened last week to welcome a conference group from The Icehouse business growth and development company in Auckland. Business leaders attending the conference which was from June 18 to 20 all operate businesses turning over $3million-plus, and after completing management programmes with The Icehouse are visiting Queenstown as part of an Owner Manager Exchange (OMX) program. The Icehouse Customer Relationship Manager Raewyn Goodwin says there was “no better place than Queenstown” for business owners to take a helicopter view of their business and assess growth opportunities in the wake of COVID-19. “They own and operate businesses that are the backbone of the New Zealand economy so we’re delighted to bring them to Queenstown and support the town,” she says. Queenstown-based lobby group We Love Wakatipu Inc, led by former council Cath Gilmour and others, is yet to published its full response to the report. It says it will respond “as soon as our busy volunteer resource has the opportunity to trawl and think through its 236 pages”. “We Love Wakatipu Inc will also continue to push QLDC councillors to keep their to electioneering stands against expansion of the air noise boundary (ANB) at Queenstown Airport.”
TSS Earnslaw to sail again Queenstown’s iconic steamship the TSS Earnslaw will sail again in early July. The 107-year-old ship, one of the symbols of the tourist town, was docked at Steamer Wharf on Lake Wakatipu throughout the Covid-19 lockdown. But owner Wayfare has announced it is relaunching many of its businesses, including the Earnslaw and Queenstown’s Go Orange Jet Boats, on July 4 in time for the school holidays. There will be major price reductions and the company’s ‘kids go free’ promotion will run throughout winter. “Like most tourism operators we’ve had to make carefully considered changes to realign our business to cater for a different mix of guests,” boss Ian Jackson says. “It’s been a difficult few months, but I’m now looking forward to relaunching our experiences in Doubtful Sound, Milford Sound, Te Anau, Stewart Island and the TSS Earnslaw and Go Orange Jet Boats in Queenstown.” Its ski fields, Cardrona and Treble Cone near Wanaka, will open on June 26 and 27. The International Antarctic Centre is already open in Christchurch on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Jackson confirmed last month that the company is restructuring in the wake of Covid-19 and will need to make a “significant number of redundancies”. The Earnslaw will return her annual survey to ferry Kiwi families to Walter Peak, with midday cruises and cruise on Friday and Saturday evenings. But the Walter Peak Gourmet BBQ lunch won’t return at the end of August.

It is simply incorrect that New Zealanders do not want to live and work in Queenstown , they have done so in the past and will do so again in the future. The main reason they have not done so is that it has been in the employers best interests to ship in low cost , easily manageable short term visa holders. Instead of the government using the current situation to allow for New Zealanders to represent their country, instead with the consequence of the QLDC granting a shovel ready hand out to Ngai Tahau, for another quick money making venture for which they will not be paying any tax on their profits. The second best, our Mayor could come up with was to help out his big end of town mates by sucking mum and dad rate and taxpayers into expending public fund’s to revamp the CBD. Why did they not instead offer the School or Lakeview site to set up a Tourism training school and accommodation so that New Zealanders can be encouraged to work and learn or similar sorts of projects? The reason they did not do so ,is because it’s simply not in their best business interests to do so. Plus The LWB could do their bit by refusing to accept Job Adverts that are slanted to allow visa holders to renew or extend their visas with no intention to hire New Zealanders or Resident’s.

I just read your article at LWB this week and just want to say thank you for your sensibility in seeing the importance of my fellow migrants. I’ve being working in Queenstown for nearly 5 years in the kitchen and can say that I have never worked with a single kiwi in all my time here (apart from the owners), and I feel that not many people understand the process we have to go through to be here! We don’t get anything easily or for free, we pay heaps of taxes through application with INZ. During the coronavirus we’ve been through, rejection, redundancy and sometimes racism, and it was a relief to read your article and see that you understand the importance of our workforce. Queenstown is my home, even though I’m not a resident yet! I ‘ve build my life here, paid my bills and made my contribution to the local economy as the country economy as well, the only thing we would appreciate now is being recognised by our contributions. The Speed limit going through Arthurs Point is now 70km then its down to 50km an hour before being back up to 80km an hour heading to Queenstown. This is the speed limit but seemingly not everyone either knows or agrees with it. Pretty much every day I slow down to 50km and whoever is traveling behind me obviously gets frustrated and impatient and typically feels its okay to drive right up close to my bumper, in an effort to speed me up or make me feel incredibly uncomfortable and yes silly just for doing the speed limit. While I agree 50 does sometimes seem a little slow in places, I don’t make the laws and I’m getting increasingly annoyed that while I’m doing the right thing by the law, others feel its okay to try to get me to speed up. Occasionally cars have even tried to overtake. This happened just recently prompting me to vent my frustration. Thoughts anyone? Complying citizen
AIR NZ FARE GOUGING Jacinda and all the tourism gurus are pleading with Kiwis to travel and buy local but how can we afford to with the fares that Air NZ are charging. They are exorbitant at $600+ return to Auckland during the July isn’t going to encourage anyone but the super wealthy to fly. If you have kids you are forking out over $1,000 in airfares so our family for one just can’t afford to fly. Air NZ by the way is being bailed out once again by the taxpayer. With no competition surely Air NZ should be legislated to provide decent affordable fares so ‘average’ kiwis can have some money left over after being fleeced by Air NZ, so we can afford to spend some in the local businesses. Kinloch - Named by Scottish settlers because of its similarity to Kinloch in Scotland. It was surveyed by AD Wilson in 1870 as there was talk of it becoming an inland terminus for communications with the coastal Martins Bay settlement. Neither dream was ever fulfilled. It is an appropriate name as Kinloch means ‘head of the lake’
The Lakes District Museum in Arrowtown was founded in 1948. The museum holds a huge repository of objects, photographs, papers, books and interviews relating to our history. The museum is a charitable trust relying largely on its door charge and sales to survive. David Clarke has been the museum’s long serving Director and likes to walk and bike the districts track and trails. The ongoing future of this district institution is seriously threatened due to the need to earthquake strengthen its heritage buildings and the impact of Covid 19.
Glenorchy - Named after a Scottish place name in Argyle. It was surveyed by GM Barr in 1864 and described as ‘a township at Bucklerburn, head of Lake Wakatipu.’ Early suggestion for a name were Dartmouth and Reeston. The street names today are mainly from Argyle. The shoreline near Glenorchy is shallow and is known by Maori as Tahuna, meaning ‘shallow place’, the same name given to Queenstown. Hector Mountains - Named after Sir John Hector, Otago Provincial Geologist who discovered Kicking Horse Pass through the Rocky Mountains in North America. Known as Tapuae Uenuku by Maori which means the ‘footsteps of Uenuku- the Rainbow God’ Humboldt Mountains - (head of the lake) Named by James McKerrow, Surveyor General of New Zealand, after the naturalist, Baron FHA Humboldt (1769-1859). Included in this mountain range are Bold Peak ((2130m) and Mt Bonpland (2343m) The latter is named after Aimee Bonpland, a French botanist who accompanied Humboldt to South America.
Macetown - Named after the Mace brothers who were miners at the head of the Arrow River. It was originally known as the ‘12 mile’, named that by surveyor W.H Wilmont. This was in accordance with the practice of naming places by their estimated distance from the nearest town. The Mace brothers Henry, John and Kit were renowned cricketers. Cricket was played as early as 1863 and the Mace brothers led the Arrow team in a number of victories over the Queenstown team led by William Rees. They all played in an invitational team against a visiting ‘ All England ‘team in Dunedin, also in 1863.
Invincible Creek and Mine. (Head of the lake) Named after the Invincible Quartz Mining Company which operated a mine there from 1880-1888. The creek was also known as Mine Creek, Reef Creek and Pyrites Creek.

COMMUNITY NOTES Thank you to all the regions Volunteers National Volunteer Week celebrates and honours the collective energies and mana of all volunteers in Aotearoa but especially those in our region.
The community spirit is strong and still shining brightly. Regionally, there are still many people continuing to support the welfare recovery, whether it is supporting older people re-gain their independence or as part of the huge welfare team supporting our migrant workers who have lost jobs and struggling to keep their families here, or overseas, safe and secure.
Year-round, volunteers share their time and energy with organisations, causes and individuals that they are passionate about, their commitment often unwavering and certainly selfless.
Volunteers have revealed through connecting, we belong. And through generosity and ngākau nui, big heartedness, communities will be strong, be well, and be able to meet challenges and changes, both big and small.
During COVID 19 volunteers rallied to keep communities connected, to help them get well, stay well, and to answer the call to unite and be kind.
National Volunteer Week 2020 runs from June 21-27. This year’s theme is ‘Te Hua o te Mahi Tahi I The benefit of working together’.
With over 1500 volunteers putting their hands up to help directly with the COVID 19 response across Otago, volunteers delivered groceries and meals to vulnerable people, made regular phone calls to check in on those isolating, helped with admin and IT support, formed huge needs assessment teams, distributed vouchers to those in financial difficulty and covered Meals on Wheels shifts, cooked for Baskets with Blessings, made deliveries for Salvation Army and helped meet demand in local op shops whose donations and demand for donations went through the roof. “Covid-19 has cast a very long shadow over our district in recent months making the lives of many extremely difficult. I have been very pleased however that we have been able to provide our best possible response under the circumstances. Locally we have cared for those in need by providing advice, access to food, accommodation and heating, company for the isolated as well as essential contacts within Government agencies and embassies. Volunteers have been integral in every part of the response. We have received literally hundreds of volunteer registrations with many contributors offering as many as fulltime hours. Alongside the immediate response to the crisis we have been working hard on recovery planning. Volunteers – many facing their own impossible employment or business situations, have dedicated time and energy into ensuring our district is given the best shot at creating an opportunity to come back better than ever from this disaster. This is a direct reflection of the calibre of our community and will be a legacy that the district remembers in years to come. Arrowtown Rugby Club Arrowtown Rugby Club has been chomping at the bit to get into rugby in 2020. They enter the Central Otago Premiership season as defending champions after a win against Cromwell RFC in last year’s nail biting season final. Aside from winning the championship last year, the club have much to be proud of. With roots dating back to the gold mining era, the club last year celebrated its 30th jubilee – an anniversary that gives a nod to a reformation in the late 1980’s. Having started back in the old Arrowtown Camping Ground camp store and ablutions block – a concrete building with a ceiling so low the team’s locks had trouble standing upright in there, many years of hard work by former club President, Simon Spark and other dedicated community members has seen the development of some of New Zealand’s best clubrooms at Jack Reid Park, the home of Arrowtown Rugby. The club are entering a new era at their new home. From a handful of kids in the 2007 to a junior club with over 130 players, the club has gone from strength to strength. Much can be attributed the support of local sponsors. This year more than ever, Arrowtown Rugby Club are extremely proud to have the backing of a large number of local businesses including FergBurger as their major contributor. With lasting relationship,s such as their 13 year association with Pro Active Physio and a second generation of players now taking the field for the club, Arrowtown Rugby Club have proven they are more than a side kick to their rivals from Wakatipu.

Volunteer South, is the new name for both Volunteering Otago and Volunteering Central. The organisation has long been planning a name change to better suit the organisations geographical spread. The choice to launch the new name was a simple one – it is a week that celebrates volunteers and volunteer involving organisations and community groups. Both organisations have been leaders in the Southern region and most recently with Covid-19 related support across the Central Lakes, Dunedin, Waitaki and Clutha supporting the welfare response with the local councils. The development of key volunteering guidelines in the Queenstown Lakes district set the standard of volunteering during a pandemic that was eventually replicated throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. While supporting the welfare response, the focus for the team is to continue to support organisations and community groups affected by Covid-19 as the country shifts its focus from response to recovery.
This weekend, premiership rugby is back in the basin and what better way to start than with a local derby. The Arrowtown Bulls are fielding a young, fit and unified team still riding high on their previous season’s success. With a strong coaching team in Daniel (Pup) Eyles, Fa’avae Kuresa and Aidan Winter the team are hoping to come out strong against their major rivals. Arrowtown Bulls play the Wakatipu Premiers at Jack Reid Park on Saturday 27 June at 230pm.
