Lakeside Presbyterian Church is a vibrant open and affirming community rooted in the love of God, committed to loving our neighbors, and dedicated to living out our faith in meaningful ways For over eighty years, Lakeside has served as a beacon of hope and light to the Ingleside, Stonestown, and greater San Francisco communities We gather to celebrate our faith through worship, education, mission, and outreach, welcoming everyone who seeks to worship God and grow in their spiritual journey.
As part of a denomination with 1.4 million members, Lakeside is grounded in the rich history of the Protestant Reformation The term “Presbyterian” derives from the Greek word presbuteros, meaning “elder,” signifying our belief in a church governed by representatives elected by the congregation and guided by the Holy Spirit This form of representative democracy ensures that authority in the church lies with those chosen by the community to lead
At Lakeside, governance is entrusted to the Session, a body of elected representatives who guide the church’s spiritual and administrative life Through this model, we embrace shared leadership and community involvement, striving to make decisions that reflect our commitment to serving God and one another
We continue to be a welcoming and inclusive space, where all are invited to experience God’s love, participate in meaningful worship, and engage in transformative outreach Whether through Sunday services, educational programs, or mission initiatives, Lakeside is dedicated to fostering a community where faith flourishes and lives are enriched.
Beginning with this issue, The LANTERN is going monthly.
The deadline for articles will continue to be the 15th of the month prior. Please send your articles, announcements, ads, images, etc. to dscarpenter@lakesidepcsf.org.

Worship and Music
As we approach the new calendar year, I want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of our recent music ministry presentations: John Rutter's Requiem, A Lakeside Christmas, and our Christmas Eve service. These events were a testament to the power of community, creativity, and faith, and they were made possible by the dedication and passion of so many individuals.
To our remarkable choir members, your voices brought life and meaning to every piece Your countless hours of rehearsal, your unwavering commitment, and your heartfelt performances allowed the music to speak directly to the hearts of our congregation and community
To the instrumentalists, your artistry added depth and brilliance to every moment. From the ethereal strings to the bold brass, and the grounding presence of the organ, your music elevated these presentations into profound acts of worship
To the technical team, thank you for your behind-the-scenes excellence. From managing sound and lighting to ensuring every logistical detail was flawless, your work allowed the music to shine and the messages to be heard.
To our staff, volunteers, and ushers, your efforts in organizing, welcoming, and supporting these events created a warm and inviting atmosphere. Your kindness and attention to detail ensured that every attendee felt a part of something sacred and joyous
And to our congregation and community, thank you for your presence, encouragement, and love. Your support inspires us to continue offering music that uplifts the spirit and celebrates the season
May the joy, connection, and inspiration we shared carry us forward into the new year with renewed hope and faith. Thank you for being an integral part of our ministry and for making this season truly extraordinary!

THE COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!
Have you been looking for a way to help with Lakeside’s ministry but thought you did not have the right skills or the time to get involve? We have the perfect job for you. Lakeside is currently working on our online presence in the world of social media to let those outside of our walls know about all the exciting opportunities that Lakeside offers To accomplish this, we need pictures to post of the different events such as book club, Bible Study, Food bank, Jubilate choir and so much more.
None of us can be everywhere or attend every function no matter how much we would like However, if you are inspired to take a photo or two (videos are even better) of those you do attend we would love to have you submit them to us by uploading to the QR code below or sending them directly to phippselizabeth1@gmail com or call 650678-4123.
I thank you in advance for your help with this very important part of Lakeside’s Ministry!!
