Time to VOTE on Phase Two of the Horizon Plan All the i’s have been dotted and the t’s have been crossed making the Club officially ready to present Phase Two of the Horizon Plan vote to the Membership. After almost two years of working out the details for the Logan Steele Community Center, we are confident that the enhancements will make the Community Center more of the special gem than it has already proven to be. Many new Members over the past eight years have stated that the Community Center was a large part of their decision to purchase in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails. Management and the Committees have finalized the plans and bids for the Community Center. To guarantee that the Club will receive the best value and quality for the project it was sent out for bid to multiple organizations. The Club is excited to announce that pending a positive vote by the Membership, Bracy Construction Management of Allentown, PA will be awarded the contract. Bracy was second in the bid selection of the original Community Center building and was determined not to let another great opportunity of working for the Lake Naomi Club slip by again. All Members will be receiving a detailed Horizon Plan Phase Two Proposal Booklet in the mail soon. The booklet has complete renovation drawings, strategic financial plan, capital enhancement information and questions and answers. The Phase Two Proposal has been approved by the Long Range Planning Committee, Finance Committee, Board of Governors, and Board of Trustees. The next step is for the Membership to decide the future of the Proposal. The Club has scheduled three Informational Coffees - - Saturday, March 26th at 10:00 AM; Wednesday, March 30th at 6:00 PM; and Saturday April 9th at 1:00 PM at the Community Center. Management will be presenting the Phase Two Proposal with the projected time line and the planned funding for Phase Two which shows how this will be achieved without a Member assessment. There will be plenty of time to answer all your questions and address your concerns. Please mark your calendar for these important dates. The official ballot must be returned with postmark date no later than Monday, April 18, 2016. The vote will be ratified on Saturday, April 23, 2016. If the Proposal is approved, minimal construction will begin in June 2016 with full construction commencing in September 2016. Once you receive your Horizon Plan Booklet, please review in detail and if you have any questions please contact General Manager Robert Jones at rjones@lakenaomiclub.com or Operations Manager Tim Brooks at tbrooks@lakenaomiclub.com. Please take ownership of your right to vote on this important project. The Club would like to have a strong representation of the Members’ desires.

Director of Food and Beverage We would like to welcome our newest team member, Bobby Oeler as our Director of Food and Beverage . We are excited to have Bobby on board to oversee the entire Food and Beverage Department. Bobby joined the team in January just in time for the Winter Festival where he got to meet many of our Members right away. Bobby graduated from the Philadelphia Restaurant School with a degree in Culinary Arts in 1991. From there he traveled to France and served as a pastry chef at Les Berceaux. Over the years he has worked wine dinners with some of the top chefs: Georges Perrier of Le Bec Fin in Philadelphia; Jean Louis Palladin of the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C.; Traci Des Jardin, of Rubicon, in San Francisco along with Wine Masters Tim Hanni from Beringer Vineyards and Mary Ewing Mulligan. He served for three years as an instructor of Wine/Sommelier at the Pennsylvania College of Technology. He then served as a Dining Room Manager at the Nittany Lion Inn at State College. Bobby brings a wealth of experience that will only enhance what Peter and his team have accomplished. His main goal is to work with all food and beverage team members at the Clubhouse, Timber Trails Clubhouse, Cafes and Mountaintop Lodge. Bobby has been training with former Clubhouse Manager Peter Koryttko and with General Manager Robert Jones. Robert, Peter and Bobby have been going over the challenges with the F&B Department and the need to get all the venues open and running seamlessly by the summer’s opening weekend. We are all excited to see the new ideas that Bobby will be bringing to our Members. When asked about the busy weekends at LNC, he states he is confident he can handle them with his experience from The Nittany Lion Inn during Penn State’s football season. If you haven’t done so already be sure to stop in the Lake Naomi Clubhouse to give Bobby a warm welcome.

We Care Program Lake Naomi – Timber Trails prides itself in being a very supportive community. Many Members have experienced assistance from our neighbors, Ranger Department, Ambulance Corps, Fire Company and Pocono Mountain Regional Police. A program offered by the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department, appropriately titled “We Care”, is designed to provide added security to the elderly, disabled or ill who live alone. Each day, except Sunday, between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM, the participating person is to call the Police Department and “check in” so that the Police know everything is fine and that they are well. If no call is received by 11:00 AM, the Police will call them. If no response is obtained, an Officer and Ranger will be dispatched to the residence to check on their well being. Encourage friends, neighbors and acquaintances who live in the area and may need this service to contact PMRPD at 570-895-2400 or the Ranger Department at 570-6469191 to request a “We Care” application.

The Third Annual LNC’s Schützenfest Bring your family and join the fun with LNC’s Third Annual Schützenfest on Saturday, May 21st. What is a Schützenfest? A Schützenfest (German "marksmen's festival") is a traditional festival or fair featuring a target shooting competition in the cultures of both Germany and Switzerland. At a Schützenfest, contestants compete based on their shooting abilities, for example by shooting at a wooden representation of an eagle. The winner of the competition becomes the 'Schützenkönig' ("king of marksmen") until the next year's competition. (Wikipedia) Former Clubhouse Manager Peter Koryttko and Operation Manager Tim Brooks have created LNC’s version of a Schützenfest with a paintball target competition held on Club Beach. The qualification rounds will begin at 2:30 PM and the final shoot off at 5 PM. During this time both the Duster Bar and the Boat House Café will be open offering Happy Hour Specials and appetizers for everyone to enjoy. Live Entertainment will be on beach during this event to add to the festival atmosphere. Continue the Schützenfest at the LNCH with a German Buffet featuring Bratwurst with Sauerbraten and Chef’s fabulous Pancake Station. The crowning of the King/Queen and the Prince/Princess will take place on the dance floor not later than 8 PM. Please sign-up for the free shooting contest at the Community Center so we can be prepared for the number of participants. The Club will be providing paintball guns and paintballs and the prizes are tremendous. The Schützenfest Buffet is $26++ per adult and $11++ for ages children 5-12. Children ages four and under are complimentary. Reservations are encouraged – please call the Clubhouse at 570-646-2866.

Timber Trails Member Gate The Timber Trails Community Association uses a bar code activated gate system to allow expedited entry into Timber Trails for Timber Trails Members. The TTCA also offers the benefit of this owner gate to Lake Naomi Club Members. As a Lake Naomi Club Member you can purchase a bar code to be affixed to your vehicle for $10. Bar code stickers must be applied to the car by a Ranger or Administrative personnel. Kindly note that for proper bar code sticker application, the temperature outside must be above 40 degrees and it cannot be precipitating in any way. These are the manufacturer’s requirements to ensure the bar code sticker will function properly. If you currently have a bar code that is no longer working properly, please remove the sticker from your vehicle and visit the Administrative Office for a replacement. Older bar code stickers that have been exposed to the sun and elements for long periods of time will wear out and malfunction. The TTCA will replace malfunctioning bar code stickers at no charge. If you have any questions regarding the Timber Trails Bar Code System, please contact Association Manager Wendi Freeman at wfreeman@lakenaomiclub.com.

Temporary Membership Do you plan on loaning your home to friends or relatives when you will not be present or renting your home during the 2016 season? If so, please note the Full Amenity Family membership is required for your home for your friends and or renters to be eligible to apply for the Temporary Membership (TM). The individuals will need to apply for Temporary Membership in order to gain access to any of the Recreation and Social facilities in Lake Naomi -Timber Trails. This process does take some time to complete, so please plan ahead. The Club's Membership Department will do everything they can to facilitate your Temporary Members. Give them a call at 570-646-9191 today in order to request the Temporary Membership Application, Renter Guidelines or if they can assist you in any other way. The Temporary Membership application can be filled out online at www.LakeNaomiClub.com. The form is on the Temporary Membership page found on the Sales and Rentals dropdown menu. Remember Temporary Members will be issued Photo ID Badges. Please notify your family or friends who will be applying for Temporary Membership that to help speed up the check in process each person’s picture can be uploaded on the website. The TM Photo ID Picture upload can also be found in the Sales and Rentals section under Temporary Membership. By taking advantage of this process the TM Photo ID badges will be printed ahead of time and ready for pick up at the Administrative Office.

Vehicle Stickers Please The Lake Naomi Club is continuing its efforts to better police the lakes and ponds in the Community to ensure that access to them is limited to bona fide Club Members. You can do your part to assist our Safety and Security Department. If you own and utilize a boat trailer and park at the lake access areas, you can make the Club’s job easier by getting a FREE vehicle sticker(s) from the Administrative Office and affix it to the driver’s side front bumper of your vehicle(s). The Patrol Rangers perform daily random checks of the lake accesses and beach areas. They can easily identify your vehicle as a Member in good standing by the vehicle sticker. If vehicles with trailers do not have a current sticker, it would give them reason to be suspicious of a non-Club Member utilizing the lake. A current sticker is required as of April 1st. Another benefit to the vehicle sticker (which is available to any Club Member in good standing) is that it permits access to Timber Trails without having to sign in. If you plan to utilize the beach, lake, playground, pool, tennis courts or golf course in Timber Trails, you should ask for a vehicle sticker(s) at the Administrative Office, or consider the benefits of purchasing ($10) a bar code sticker for access to the automatic Members’ gate in Timber Trails. Please help us to protect your investment by ensuring that access to your facilities is limited to bona fide Club Members who furnish the means to maintain their high quality.

Memorial Day Weekend Celebration All Members are encouraged to mark Saturday, May 28th on their calendars for a fun-filled day of family events. The Twentieth Annual Memorial Day Celebration will take place both inside and outside at the Logan Steele Community Center. After the flag raising ceremony and invocation at 12:00 Noon, there will be a large family barbecue as well as musical entertainment. Other activities and entertainment include face painting, kids craft tables and various games throughout the afternoon. There will be a golf tournament for golf Members and their guests on Sunday, May 29th. Those Members who want to enter the golf tournament should contact the Golf Center at 570-646-9060 to register. Without a doubt, there will be something for everyone. Be sure to attend this exciting event and feel free to bring friends.

Activities Committee News Adult Socials have been a huge hit this winter, thanks to the Activities Committee and the energetic participation by members in record numbers! So far, we've enjoyed a movie night and a trivia night, both accompanied by a delicious bite to eat. Come join us at the Community Center on the first Wednesday of the month, April 6th and May 4th. The Adult Social for April 6th is a Scavenger Hunt that starts at 5:00 PM. Dinner will be soup and sandwich with cookies and beverage. The cost for the evening is $12. The hunt is on! Be sure to sign up April 4th at the Community Center and by calling 570-646-8585. Sign up early as space is limited. The Activities Committee will welcome comedienne, Linda Belt, to the LNCH on April 30, 2016. Linda Belt is a New Jersey native who moved to Connecticut in 1987 where she became a suburban pillar of the community, attending PTO meetings and baseball games. Linda became very tired holding up that pillar and instead holds her own as a professional stand-up comic. The show will open with fellow comedian Johnny Watson. It is a PG13/16-rated performance geared for adults. Risqué humor, innuendo and suggestive material will leave us all laughing for days! Prior to the show, Chef Paul and the Clubhouse staff will serve a tasty mini-buffet of appetizers to accompany a cash bar and then provide a delicious dinner. Please call the Community Center at 570-646-8585 beginning April 1st for details on the menu and cost and to make your reservation for, what is sure to be a fun-filled evening. SAVE THESE DATES! Mark your calendars NOW so that you don't miss two upcoming events that the Activities Committee is planning for your enjoyment: JULY 12, the LADIES LUNCHEON, always a sell-out favorite of the summer and November 12, CASINO NIGHT, an evening of fun with games of chance!

Facility Access for Friends and Family If you loan your home to friends or relatives, or if you have guests at your home, the following is a review of how they can access the facilities. When you have guests at your home while you are present: You have the privilege of bringing guests to any facility for which you hold Membership. Your Leisure Service Guide lists specific information on guest limits and fees for each facility. Any individual may be your guest at the Community Center (20) times a year and all other facilities up to ten (10) times during one Membership (calendar) Year except property owners in LN-TT who choose not to join the Club or who choose not to join the optional facilities. Grown children and grandchildren who only visit occasionally and don't have a Special Family Membership can also participate as your guests. Members are required to accompany and introduce their guests when they are making use of the Club Facilities. Individual guest badges are paid for and issued at each facility. When someone is utilizing your home while you are not here: If someone will be utilizing your home while you are not here, the only way these house guests can utilize the facilities is by acquiring a Temporary Membership for the time they are here (unless it is a son or daughter who has their own "Special Family Membership"). The Temporary Membership will cover two adults and any unmarried children up to and including age 23 and they will be able to enjoy the same Club facilities and programs subscribed to by the Homeowner/Club Member. The Family Membership Category is required in order to sponsor Temporary Members. You will need to upgrade your Membership to this category if you plan to utilize the Temporary Membership Program. Do not hesitate to contact the Club's Membership Department at 570-646-9191 for more information on sponsoring Temporary Members, guest policies or for any other reason.

Book Club The Book Club meets regularly on the second Monday of the month at 1:30 PM at the Community Center and is always open to new participants. Everyone is welcome – even if you haven’t read the book. The discussions of course talk about the book, writing style and if it was favorable to everyone’s tastes, but does not give the plot away. This is a great way to get introduced to a variety of books that you may never have looked at otherwise. If you have questions please call Vilma Zabaleta at (570) 646-7259 or Kelly Swingle at the Community Center (570) 646-8585.

Don’t Delay - Sign Up Early for Events!!! The Management Team and appropriate Committees are continually discussing better ways to serve our Club Members. In order for us to provide better quality programs, we need your help in abiding by the registration guidelines for Clubhouse, Recreation and Special Events. The registration list determines the amount of staff, supplies and time that are needed to conduct a program. A deadline date is established to determine whether it is still feasible to hold the event and/ or allow staff enough time to make any necessary changes. The majority of people sign up for events just before the deadline. This often causes last minute revamping of programs to accommodate those attending and in some cases events have been canceled due to insufficient registration numbers. Help us to better serve you by signing up for events as soon as possible and noting the deadline dates. This will allow adequate time to prepare the best events possible.

Community Garden The Community Center Garden will be open this Spring as the weather permits. Returning gardeners who have signed their contract are welcome to access the patches as soon as mother-nature permits. We have used all the land permitted in the garden area and will not be adding more boxes this season. The waiting list for new gardeners is growing as fast as the weeds. Vacant spaces will be assigned as they become available beginning in April. If you are on the waiting list, you will be notified as soon as openings occur. Children’s programming will continue through the Kid’s Klub programming and educational seminars for all Members will be announced as details become available. Questions can be directed to Kelly Swingle, Community Center Manager at 570-646-8585.

Membership Fairness In trying to help a friend or neighbor, often Club Members do not realize how much they are actually hurting other friends and neighbors. Have you ever been asked to register a boat for a friend or neighbor who is not a Club Member or to take them as your guest to a Club facility? While on the surface it may appear that you are just helping that friend or neighbor, you are in reality hurting the Club and hurting your friends and neighbors who are Members of the Club. If you ever get such a request, please encourage the individuals to join the Club. Membership Committee Members and Club Staff Members are always available to talk with these people about the options available for Club Membership and the benefits of joining and supporting the Club.

Make sure you are visiting the Club’s social media to see what Mark Luethi has been up to. This FB picture received 274 likes, 15 shares, 11 comments and has reached 5,122 people.

Linda Creed Breast Cancer Rally Hello, members and friends! We hope with winter winding down and spring upon us, everyone is in good health and spirits. As we gear up for Summer 2016, it’s time to plan for the LN/TT Linda Creed Breast Cancer Rally. We are thrilled that our community’s efforts at raising vital funds to support local woman have grown in participation, support, fundraising, and in actual number of events. Please be sure to save the dates for our Rally Events this July: • 5K Run/Walk: Saturday, July 16th • Bridge Tournament: Tuesday, July 19th • Men’s Golf Tournament: Wednesday, July 20th • Ladies' Tennis Tournament: Wednesday, July 20th • Ladies' Golf Tournament: Thursday, July 21st • Dinner and Auction at Lake Naomi Clubhouse: Thursday, July 21st As in years past we are working on the Rally Sponsor Book. The Sponsor Book offers our generous supporters an opportunity to complement their hole, tee, tennis, and 5K sponsorships with additional advertising exposure for their businesses. Our Silent and Live Auctions are a much anticipated part of our culminating event. In recent years, bidders have been most enthusiastic about those items that offer a unique experience or opportunity. Toward that end, we are in need of donations. If you have a vacation home or a timeshare that you are not using, tickets for the theater or a sports event, a special talent to share (gourmet cooking, crafting, particular skill that you could teach, etc.), or would like to join with friends to provide an experience such as a catered beach party basket, wine/beer tasting, etc., we would greatly appreciate your willingness to share. We welcome your ideas- for the auctions and Rally overall! New and innovative ideas from our supporters are essential to make each Rally unique and fresh. If you have any suggestions that will enhance the “Rally Experience”, please don’t hesitate to contact us. As always, we need help with all of our projects. Please, let us hear from you if you want to volunteer and be a part of this extremely gratifying event. Thank you, Laura Bacon lbacon50@gmail.com, Nancy Mills nancym9614@aol.com

World Indoor Sailing Championships 2016 The LNC, Radio Control Laser Fleet #9 held its Winter Regatta on Sunday, February 7th in the LSCC indoor pool. This regatta attracts several world class RC sailors who love the competition for its uniqueness and spirited competition. RC sailing is more of a social event than normal sail boat racing because all of the sailors are grouped together on the “shore” rather than relatively separated out on the water. This event has also been come to be known as “sailing in a box” due to the hard sides of the pool and the constrained water area. Furthermore, while one can find other instances of indoor radio control sailing (especially at boat shows), we believe that we are the only fleet that regularly sails in a pool — every other weekend, November through March. Despite the excellent RC racers who joined us Club members, a local sailor did medal. Congratulations to Dean Neely, #86 for scoring 5 firsts and winning third place in the final standings. To see a few of the races, search YouTube for “World Indoor Sailing Championship 2016”.

Attention Dog Owners Help protect your dog with the Club’s free Dog Registration Service. Many dog owners have experienced the worry and anxiety that comes when the family’s best friend runs away, especially in an unfamiliar area. By registering with the Club’s free Dog Registration Service, if your dog runs away, the Rangers can easily contact you in the event your dog is found. When you register you will receive a numbered tag that can be attached to your dog’s collar. If a member of the Ranger Staff finds your dog on the loose, the Ranger can check the number on the Club’s dog registration database, which contains information about the dog and a contact number for the owner. Applications for the Dog Registration Service are available at the Administrative Office during regular business hours. We ask for 24 hours in order to process the application. Your dog’s tag will be ready for pickup on the next business day. For more information, contact the Ranger Office at 570-643-6941. 8

Tennis Talk Rally the Family - The Tennis Industry’s initiative to grow the game is underway nationwide during the month of March. Its sole purpose is to introduce tennis to families who have never held a racquet in their hand. The ROG(Red, Orange, Green) ball is being used to accommodate children of different ages just like we have done here at the Lake Naomi Club. The balls are designed to bounce at waist level so the pupil can swing in a low to high pattern. When you practice with your children, please use the appropriate ball. Red is for Ages 5-7, orange for 8-10, and green for 11-12. Encourage your local professional to conduct Family Cardio classes using the guidelines mentioned here. We will continue to have our Sunday classes with Moms, Dads, and the little ones again this summer. POP Tennis - A new game in town called POP Tennis is catching the interest of people of all ages. Recently promoted on the Today show, the game gets its name from the “pop” sound that the ball makes when struck by the very small paddle. Rallies are longer than tennis because of the softer ball, the court is shorter, the net is lower, and everyone can get a terrific workout in a very short time. We have the perfect court at our tennis center for this new game. Go to POPTennis.com and watch the videos. Get ready to play POP Tennis this summer at Lake Naomi. XGLOSIVE Tennis - Sometime in April, I will be attending a seminar on XGLOSIVE Tennis in Tallahassee. Playing tennis in the dark with hip-hop music, glow-inthe-dark t-shirts, and pastel-glow-colored shoes, provides a mix of tennis and a party. Maybe we will have an event like this sometime soon. Spring Into Action: Your Tennis Tip Attention All Juniors: Spring is finally here. We have an extra I will be establishing a Bobby McKee Junior Sportsmanship Award this sum- hour of sunlight, warmer temperatures, mer. The award will be given to one the snow is melting, and soft clay courts boy and one girl who best exemplifies await your presence. Remember the word strong sportsmanship qualities: Respect “spring” when you play. Hopefully this for your opponent, tournament officials, will help you transfer your weight properly teachers, stays calm, cool, and collected and help with taking the ball on the rise. Spring has sprung at all times, gives the benefit of doubt Get Your Racquet Strung on all line calls to your opponent, and Until I see you again, acts with the highest degree of class off best wishes for many aces, the court as well. This is also a great way to meet fellow Members with similar interests. Fleet Captains and the Commodore will briefly outline the Sailing Events and Races planned for the Summer of 2016. The Race Committee will be present to do this season’s Race Committee volunteer schedule. The Memorial Day races which mark the opening of the season will also be re-capped. Not Ready For Prime Time (NRPT) Sailing Are you familiar with NRPT? Not Ready for Prime Time is a specific time for those of you less seasoned sailors who can simply tack into the wind and make their way from point A to point B. Saturday afternoons are being planned for you! Some Saturdays will be learning experience race days as the Committee Boat Crew will help you with how and when you start and directions on how to get around the course. Skippers may also be offered pointers and instructions by the Safety Boat Operators. Junior and Adult sailors will be split into two separate fleets for scoring and will have separate race starts. Other weeks will be social sailing events not revolving around racing at all. The Weekly Flyer and weekly e-blasts will indicate which days are race days and which days are other fun events. NRPT is held on Saturdays throughout the summer season beginning July 9th and continue into August as demand warrants. Meeting time is around 2:00 PM, just after the regular sailing series races finish. These meetings are also conveniently scheduled just after the Saturday Adult Weekly Sailing Lessons. Sailboats are available for use in NRPT if arranged in advance with the Sailing Office. A NRPT flyer with more information is posted on the bulletin board outside the Sailing Office on the beach level of the Lake Naomi Clubhouse. You should also be aware… the NRPT pennant flies on the flagpole on any Saturday there is a scheduled NRPT gathering. There’s sailing opportunities for sailors of all abilities on Lake Naomi, so come out to join in the fun!

Memorial Weekend Sailing Races The Sailing Season kicks off on Sunday, May 28th, with the Memorial Day Sailing Races. Important Sailing Race Reminders The Lake Naomi Club Sailing Association requires all sailboats participating in any of the sailing races or regattas to adhere to customary sailing practices: -Have a number posted on their sail -Check in with the Race Committee prior to racing to register to sail. Before the first race sail to the “Tiki” to confirm you registered by hailing your information to the Race Committee. (full name and boat number) -Inform the Race Committee if you’re leaving the racing before the final finish. These practices allow Race Committee to track and properly score racers. If you do not already have your sail numbered you MUST be assigned an available number. Numbers are available for purchase in the Sailing Office if needed. While you’re there, please do not hesitate to ask the Sailing Staff for directions on how to properly affix the numbers to your sail if you do not have experience in doing so. The Sailing Office is open from 10 AM – 6 PM on weekends beginning the Memorial Day Weekend and full time beginning Saturday, June 25th.

The available courts may be played as “walk on” all day (8:30 AM until dark) midweek and after 1:30 PM on weekends after the Pro Shop has closed. Carry Your 2016 Membership Card We are often asked why it is so important for Members to have their Membership Identification Cards on their person while using the Club facilities. The easiest answer is that it allows the staff to ensure that only bona fide Members are using the facilities but the card also provides other functions as well. The Board of Governors, Board of Trustees, and Management use the information gathered from the “swiping in” at various amenities to help ensure that the Club is operating as efficiently as possible. It permits the Club to see how many Members are using facilities and at what times so our staffing and hours of operation can best accommodate the needs of the Members. All Members are reminded that 2016 Membership Identification Cards will be required to access facilities starting May 1st. Membership Cards will be needed to access the Timber Trails Golf Course beginning April 15th. Cards are included in the Membership Packets available at the Administrative Office to all paid Members beginning April 1st. Please help us maintain a Platinum Club experience by having your card available.

The Winter Festival Was a Big Hit Mother Nature kept the Management Team on their toes again this year but thanks to the snow the week prior and the skilled Maintenance Team that groomed the hill, the cardboard bobsled race was once again a huge hit by the Members’ families. The third year for cardboard bobsled race was another “out of this galaxy ” hit where Star War families came dressed in costumes that matched their awesome cardboard sleds where The Angelos family’s Tie Fighter won Fan Favorite. The Colyer family’s SWAT clocked in as going the fastest down the hill. The Geist family’s Fire Bolt that included Gryffindor riders took home the award for the most unique. We even had a couple families showoff their last minute throw together sled building skills but one thing is for sure everyone participating and watching truly had a great time. Members were taking notes on how to improve upon their sleds for next year. This year we had special judges all the way from NYC to judge the snowman contest. The Club’s new PR Firm Bed and Brunch were on hand so Maria Coder & Jay Hassler chose the winners with the Judge’s favorite going to “Snow Fossil” by the DeStefano and Galletta families and Most Creative going to “Gulliver’s Snowman” by the Scarpa family. The Timber Trails Grill was open and served lunch on Saturday and then on Sunday the Chili Contest, Wood Carver and fire pits were on patio. The chili awards went to Robert Mezzasalma for judges favorite and to Thomas Boyden for Fan Favorite. A special thank you goes out to Dembinski Real Estate for sponsoring the Wood Carving Demonstration. To check-out all the fun visit the LNC’s Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/LakeNaomiClub. Be sure to see the picture where Member Nick Scarpa commented - The LNC Racing Team is pleased to announce the successful test of our pilot ejection system. We look forward to unveiling additional features next year.

The Annual Fish Stocking Program conducted by Lakes Committee took place on Saturday, March 26th. Members of all ages turned out to help release the rainbow and brown trout upstream and downstream of Lake Naomi. This is always a favorite family-fun event. Please note that the Club’s creel limit for trout is different than the State of Pennsylvania. The creel limit for trout in Lake Naomi is four (4) and all fish must measure at least seven (7") inches. Resident licenses forr ages 16 to 64 are $22.70. Non-resident licenses are $52.70. Trout permits are $9.70 additional. You qualify for a resident fishing license if you are a bona fide resident of Pennsylvania. You must show positive proof of permanent residence. There is a one day tourist pass that includes all stamps and licenses for $26.70 (not valid in April). Purchase your fishing license online at PA Fish and Boat Commission website – www. fish.state.pa.us/license.htm. It only takes a few moments to purchase your PA Fishing License and related permits (stamps). If you rent your home please share this information with your renters so they too can enjoy great fishing at LN-TT. Any questions on the locations of sport and bait shops in our area where you can obtain regulations, laws and licensing should be directed to the Administrative Office.

LNC Purchases Historical Marker The Marker Advocates of Tobyhanna Township (MATT) is a group of community volunteers that have embarked on a program to locate roadside historical markers throughout the township. They are doing this by participating in the Pennsylvania Historical Marker Program by marking with cast aluminum markers places that tell the important and interesting stories that are part of the history of PA. MATT’s goal is to raise money to place 30 markers in the Tobyhanna Township area. The Lake Naomi Club has purchased the Miller Stagecoach Tavern Historical Marker. This building was once housed on the property across from the Lake Naomi Dam, the corner of Firehouse Road and Route 423. Excerpt from the article, “The Stagecoach Inn of Tompkinsville,” written by Rick Bodenschatz. As one of the earlier settlers, Frederick P. Miller (1805-1880) moved to Tobyhanna Township from Jackson Township, buying considerable wooded acreage. His first record of taxable land ownership in Tobyhanna Township was 1846 when he owned his first 450 acres and half of a sawmill. Each subsequent year he purchased more acreage, holding 633 acres in 1846 and 868 acres in 1848. He was listed as a lumberman in the tax records. By 1849 the tax records show he owned 1200 acres. His occupation was listed as a farmer by 1852, apparently as a result of clearing the timber from his land. A need was met when Frederick became an Innkeeper, operating a stagecoach inn, or hotel, located on Sullivan Trail in Tompkinsville (Pocono Pines), on a lot adjacent to today’s corner lot of Firehouse Road and Route 423. As a stagecoach inn, it served as a hotel for overnight guests traveling in both directions, served meals and provided other comforts, in addition to its libations served from the bar. It also was a source of services for local residents. We do not know of the name or names of the stagecoach inn, or if it was continuously in ow ownership of the Miller family until it was dismantled in the year 20 2000. But it is assumptive to say that based upon historical record w without doing an exacting deed search, it was in the Miller family ow ownership for a great deal of the years until 2000. The Club is honored to have the opportunity mark a piece of histo tory on its property in such a fitting way. Everyone is excited to ha have the marker completed and placed so future generations can le learn about our area’s history. To learn more about the MATT proggram and other markers in the area please visit http://www.tobyhangr na natwphistory.org/markers.html.

This workshop will provide information on protecting, testing and treating private water supplies. We will discuss septic system inspection and maintenance. Learn how to protect your health, your property and our shared groundwater and surface water resources. This program is provided by Instructors – Peter Wulfhorst, Penn State Extension – Pike County and Bryan Swistock, Water Resources Extension Associate. Pre-registration required! Please call the Community Center to register at 570-646-8585. We need a minimum of 30 participants to hold this workshop. The workshop will be addressing septic systems and private water systems. Stored Value Cards along with Membership ID As a convenience to Club Members and as a means of limiting the amount of cash handled at Club Facilities, the Club initiated LNC Stored Value Cards. Many Members have used the LNC Stored Value Card (SVC) and found it extremely easy to use. No more worrying about having to carry cash for pool, tennis, golf fees and the Community Center. Your Membership ID Badge also has Stored Value Card capabilities. This means you can put money on your Membership ID Badge so there is no need for a separate SVC. You can add money to your Membership ID Badge or purchase a Stored Value Card at the Administrative Office and the Community Center in any amount over $10.00. Extra dollars can be added to the SVC or Membership ID Badge throughout the season at the Administrative Office or the Community Center. These cards can then be utilized at any Club facility for payment of services and merchandise provided. They are also a great way to pay for purchases at the Cafes and Restaurant. Be sure to take full advantage of the Lake Naomi Club Stored Value Card.
