Progress on Phase One of the Horizon Plan If you have been watching the Club’s Facebook page, you might have seen the great pictures of the renovation of the Timber Trails Golf Center and Clubhouse. It is exciting how well the construction is going. The contractors were able to get both buildings under roof by the first snow fall so the construction has been able to keep moving through the cold weather. As with any renovation to an older building a few snags were encountered along the way. The established contingency that was built into the original budget has been adequate to address these challenges, but they have put some stress on the time line. Regardless, the plan is to open the golf course on April 17th (weather depending) and the Timber Trails Pool on Memorial Day Weekend. Keep an eye open for grand openings of both the Timber Trails Clubhouse and the Golf Center as well as the hours of operations this summer for the new Timber Trails Grill.

Busy Year for LN-TT Rangers

Under the direction of Chief Ranger John Lamberton, the Lake Naomi – Timber Trails Patrol Rangers were very busy during 2014 handling 4,500 calls and logging over 73,000 patrol miles on the Club’s four Ranger vehicles. During 2014 the Patrol Rangers also conducted 5,250 paid house checks and 2,647 random house checks. The Timber Trails Gate House Rangers also had a busy year logging in 7,319 visitors and 4,230 contractors for a total of 11,549 sign ins. The Patrol Rangers are also very active with the Recreation Department by having a full-time Ranger assigned to Kids Klub and night recreation at the Community Center and conducting several safety programs at Kids Klub during the summer. Congratulations to this fine group of men and women for their dedicated service to the property owners of Lake Naomi – Timber Trails.

Green LNC SVCs Being Phased Out 2015 will be the last year you will be able to use your green Lake Naomi Club stored value cards. As you know LNC has gone through a several year process of upgrading the club wide computer system. The new gold store value cards work directly with the point-of-sale terminals that have been installed at all LNC locations. The green SVCs VCs are not com compatible with these terminals. Most of the locations will have the older swipe machines for 2015 however as their useful life expire these machines will not be replaced. Please make it a point to utilize any value on your green SVCs and then dispose of them. Any funds still on your green card after they have been phased out can be transferred to the new gold cards.

Community Center Guests While the Club is always happy to entertain guests at Lake Naomi Timber Trails, please be mindful of the Community Center guidelines throughout the balance of this winter season, especially President’s Weekend. There is a limit of six guests per day per Family Membership on weekdays and four guests per day per Family Membership on weekends and holidays. Also please remember that in order for a guest to use the facility, the Member must be present with them. In fairness to our Members, we will not be making any exceptions to these policies during winter holiday periods.

Tree of Mittens – Success The Activities Committee wanted to say thank you to all who donated to the 2014 Tree of Mittens which stood 10 feet tall at the Community Center. By the end of the holiday season, our baskets were completely filled with hats, scarves and mittens which were donated to the foster children of Monroe County. A big thank you to Caroline Graham who made sure that the donations reached their proper destination again this year. We would also like to recognize your generous donations to the Toys for Tots program. Many local children had a very blessed holiday. 6

TMIT Program Retired

In the 2015 summer season at Lake Naomi Club the TMIT (Team Members In Training) Program will be retired. Although the TMIT program has been very successful in the past and is something that our young teenagers look forward to, we have decided to take a step in a different direction. The new program will better serve the needs of our community, fall in line with the current standards set by the Department of Labor and Industry, and provide a much greater focus on teamwork, leadership, and relationship building.

Introducing – The Teen Leadership Experience Program

Starting in June of 2015 the TMIT program will be replaced by the Teen Leadership Experience Program (TLEP). This program will coincide with our Kids Klub Camp but will be only for our teens going into 9th grade in the fall and run as an independent program. The purpose of this program will be to instill leadership values, create strong relationships among participants, and set them up for success in whatever path they choose in life. Unlike the TMIT program this will not be a volunteer work training program but a teen leadership program. Participants will not work at the camp as counselors in training. The TLEP program will run for 8 weeks during the summer and consist of teambuilding experiences, leadership activities and projects, community service based activities and projects, offsite trips and, of course, a lot of fun for everyone involved! The program will be overseen by the TLEP Director who will work alongside the TLEP participants providing exciting opportunities but allowing them to take the direction they choose with the Director’s guidance. Cost of the program will be $120 per week (discounts available for multiple weeks purchased together) and will include transportation to activities, offsite fieldtrips, a TLEP T-shirt, and a lot of fun! Programming samples will be available soon!

Community Center Multipurpose Room Etiquette

While Members are utilizing the Community Center’s Multipurpose Room for indoor tennis play, they sometimes find it challenging to share the space with the recreation participants on the other side of the curtain. Because the LSCC is a multiuse facility, all Members are asked to be familiar with and practice the Multipurpose Room guidelines which follow and are outlined in the Leisure Service Guide. It is suggested that Members call ahead when planning on using the MPR as programming may be scheduled which could limit access for general use. Multipurpose Room Guidelines: Please only wear shoes with non-marking soles. Athletic shirts and shorts are required, cut-offs are not permitted. me. Roughhousing and horseplay is considered unsafe and not permitted at any time. Please do not hang on the basketball rims or lean on the tennis nets. Food and eating are not permitted in the multi-purpose room. Drinks are only permitted in reusable plastic containers with lids (i.e. sports bottles.) Multipurpose Room while set for Indoor Tennis- Additional Guidelines: Athletic attire and shoes are required to play indoor tennis. Only persons engaged in play may be on the court. Each court may have a maximum of four players and three regulation size tennis balls unless otherwise approved by Management. Please keep the courts free of litter, especially empty ball cans and ball can metal caps which can damage the floor. Players are expected to practice court etiquette at all Lake Naomi Club Tennis facilities: Be respectful to the adjacent court at all times, especially when walking in and out and when retrieving balls. Should the need to interrupt arise, please wait until after the point in play. Courteous and sportsmanlike conduct is always expected. Limit disruptive conversation and behavior. Profane language is never acceptable. Throwing racquets will not be tolerated and unnecessary screaming is discouraged. Although cell phones are permitted in the Community Center, lowering ringer volume and taking calls to another area are courteous practices always appreciated by others. We hope these basic reminders will help all Members find their time at the Community Center more enjoyable as many users share common space. We thank you for your cooperation. Important Indoor Pool Etiquette

For the comfort of all Members using the indoor aquatic facilities, we encourage you to rinse off before entering the indoor pool, steam room or sauna. This is especially important if you have just worked up a sweat in the fitness center or multi-purpose room. Showerheads for this purpose are located in the Men’s and Ladies’ locker rooms right before you enter the indoor pool area. Your fellow Members thank you!

Please Soak Safely

The hot tub, steam room and sauna at the Community Center are relaxing, warm and wonderful. Soothe your body and rejuvenate your spirits while following the recommended guidelines below to help you soak safely: •Consult before you soak. If you suffer from any medical conditions such as cardiovascular or respiratory disorders, diabetes, high/low blood pressure or others make sure you have your doctor’s okay before you go in the hot tub. •Observe a reasonable 10 minute total time limit when soaking in the hot tub, steam room or sauna and cool down between uses. **One should never move from the hot tub directly to the steam room or sauna or vice versa if the 10 minute time limit in the spa area has been reached. •Exit immediately and notify staff if feeling any kind of discomfort such as dizziness, nausea, lightheadedness or being faint. •Alcohol, drugs, medications and hot temperatures don’t mix. Spa heat accelerates the effects of alcohol and drugs and can cause unconsciousness. •Please note that pregnant women should consult their physicians before use and women of childbearing years are advised to observe caution in their use of a spa. •No one under the age of 16 years is permitted in any Spa Facilities.

RC Laser Winter Invitational Regatta The Radio Controlled Laser Fleet will be hosting an Invitational Regatta on Sunday, February 8th from 7:00-11:00 AM in the indoor pool at the LSCC. Considering that this is the only regularly scheduled indoor sailboat racing that we know of and there will be world class sailors in attendance, this event has become known as the ‘World Indoor Sailing Championship’. As noted some world class visiting racers will be attending making the competition more interesting than the regular biweekly race day and it will be a very spirited competition. Sailors should expect up to 20 races during the 4 hours of allotted time assuming similar participation as in previous years. Starts are normally limited to six sailors per start to maximize the sailing space in the pool. The regular Member Fleet will prioritize accommodating the visiting guests and as many qualified racers as possible. But because the indoor pool size does limit the number of boats that can sail, pre-registration is appreciated so participation does not have to be limited last minute. Please express your interest in participating as soon as possible by emailing Meredith Sensenig at msensenig@lakenaomiclub.com so we can plan accordingly. Cost for event is $20 per skipper. Trophies will be awarded at the end of the sailing day. Space will be provided the evening before for anyone who would like to set up their boat Saturday night rather than at 7 AM on Sunday. Spectators are invited to watch from the 2nd floor spectator balcony or the pool deck area, HOWEVER no pool use or spa use will be permitted until the event is over and the entire area opens at 11:00 AM. Reminder, the pool area is over 80 degrees, so dress accordingly.

Boat and Canoe Racks

Please keep in mind that boat and canoe racks are assigned according to the Member’s assignment area on a first paid, first assigned basis. Many racks have already been assigned to those Members who have made payment in January. Thus the earlier you make your 2015 Club dues payment, the better your chances are of being assigned racks in your designated area. Those Members who opt to subscribe to a boat and/or canoe rack are subscribing to the rack from the Saturday prior to Memorial Day Weekend until the Monday of Columbus Day weekend. The actual dates in 2015 are May 16th through October 12th. Please do not occupy boat or canoe racks prior to the starting date indicated. When you do occupy your rack, make sure that you are on the rack that has been assigned to you. The elevated racks are for canoes and kayaks only. They are not built to withstand the weight of any other craft. Please do not put anything other than canoes or kayaks on these racks and please do not load multiple boats on the ends of the racks.

Bad Weather Office and Community Center Closing As most residents of Lake Naomi and Timber Trails are aware, winter weather can make driving conditions in Pocono Pines and vicinity difficult and dangerous. This factor combined with the significant distance that a number of the Club's Support Personnel travel in order to get to the Administrative Office and Community Center makes staffing these areas on some bad weather days a real challenge. You can be assured that every effort will be made to have the Administrative Office and Community Center open and staffed during all stated times of operation, regardless of weather conditions. However, the Club seeks your indulgence and understanding for those rare occasions when the Office and/or Community Center may not be able to be staffed due to extreme weather conditions. During times of bad weather, be sure to call ahead before traveling to the Administrative Office or Community Center.

Boat Rental Program This is the time to register your interest in donating your unused boat to the Boat Rental Program. The Club is seeking Laser Sailboats and newer Sunfish Sailboats. In return for your donation you are entitled to 8 free boat rentals for the next five seasons that can be used by yourself, your Special Family Members and your Guests. The boat rental season begins on weekends beginning Memorial Day weekend and every day during the main summer season. The fleet currently consists of single and double kayaks, canoes and row boats. Sailboats are available on a limited basis, once you’ve been “authorized” by a trained Member of the Sailing Staff. For more information on pre-season Boat Donations please e-mail Meredith Sensenig at msensenig@ lakenaomiclub.com or by phone at the Community Center (570, 6468585). Let’s get the unused boats out on the water where they belong!

Telephone Policy Did you know when a Member walks into the Administrative Office that they are our number one priority? Our staff is directed not to answer the phone when they are helping a Member. So while we answer 90% of our calls live, there can be the opportunity that the Club’s voicemail system will pick up your call. Don’t dismay because if you leave a message the Club will return your call. Here is a list of some of the office extensions: Membership ............... 102 Temporary Membership 116 PPCA, TTCA and ARC 106 Resale certificates ........ 106 You can always leave your message on the Receptionist voice mail and we can direct your call.

Vehicle Registration Form for Lake Naomi Residents The Lake Naomi Club is continuing its Vehicle Registration Program for Lake Naomi residents during 2015. If you would like to participate in this voluntary program, please fill out the application that was just recently sent to you in a separate mailing. The Club encourages you to take the time now to fill out and return the Vehicle Registration Application. This will permit the Membership Department time to process your application and to include the stickers in your Membership Packet. This can save you a substantial amount of time when you come to the Administrative Office to pick up your 2015 Membership Packet. Please note that Timber Trails residents have already received their vehicle registration form with their annual assessment billing and will recieve their stickers through the mail.

The Winter Festival Was a Big Hit

Mother Nature kept the Management Team on their toes until the Saturday morning of Winter Festival wondering what to do with the Member’s cardboard bobsleds since there was no snow on the hill at the LNCH. Fortunately Pocono Pines received an unpredicted 6 inches of snow, making it another perfect Winter Festival Weekend. The Lake Naomi Club families came out and showcased their competitive spirit! The second year for cardboard bobsled race was another “out of this world” hit where 15 families came dressed in costumes that matched their awesome cardboard sleds – who knew that a hotdog in a bun could be so cute? Do you remember Bedtime with Bonzo? There was “Bedtime 4 Bonzo Bobsled Boys” bobsled. Members were taking notes on how to improve upon their sleds for next year. This year we even had the perfect “snowman-making” snow, and the front yard of the Mountaintop Lodge had several creative snowmen including a Fitness Snowman. Also this year the Fitness Committee added a Cycle for Survival Event where cyclists raised $525 for the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Check out the Winter Festival Winners! From the ARC

Spring will be here before you know it and when it arrives, everyone will want to enjoy the fresh air and work outside. If you are planning to build a new house, undertake any major landscaping project or make any type of structural changes to your property, it is important that you abide by the Deed Restrictions as well as the “Architectural Standards and Requirements” for the Lake Naomi – Timber Trails Community. These standards are intended to promote harmonious design, the protection of the environment and collective interests of owners of property in the Community. Included in the S&R’s is a requirement that all propane tanks be screened from sight by using either privacy lattice or landscaping that provides sufficient screening or both for maximum buffering. With the addition of the Code of Conduct to assist in preservation of our beautiful Community, leaving your tanks un-buffered is also a violation of the Code and can be subject to a fine. While fining is the last thing anyone wants to do, propane tanks detract from the beauty of your home and the Community. If you haven’t already done so, please be a good neighbor and screen your tank. Even less aesthetically pleasing is a bright blue tarp! Blue tarps are also not permitted in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails. Dark green and brown tarps blend so much better with our natural environment! Cramers Home Center, a short drive east on 940, usually has these in stock, along with both Lowe’s and Home Depot. Another item that has caused concern with the neighbors is spotlights. When installing them, remember to point them down. Most people are not fond of spot lights shining in their windows! Please put them on a motion sensor and turn them off when you are not here or won’t need them. If you have questions regarding any ARC Standard or Requirement or if you need help finding a contractor to screen your propane tanks, please do not hesitate to contact Architectural Coordinator Sharon Lee Heron at 570-646-9191, ext. 106.

Sellers Beware

Thinking about selling your home in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails? Picking a real estate broker/agent to list your home is a real key decision. Over the years many Members have discovered that purchasing a property in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails is very different from purchasing a property in most other locations in the Pocono Region. Thus selling a property in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails is very different and to be successful takes someone who is very knowledgeable about the Community. So before you list your home with a broker/agent, determine if that broker/agent is well versed and experienced in the sale of properties in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails.

Membership Dues & Association Fees

The accounting department needs your help! Many Members are not aware that the Lake Naomi Club, The Pocono Pines Community Association and the Timber Trails Community Association are three separate and very different organizations, each governed by different state and federal laws. Each of these organizations has its own bank accounts, its own general ledger and its own audit. The Lake Naomi Club and the two home owner associations work together whenever possible to make things easier for all of their Members as we all coexist as one large happy group. However, please remember that when paying your Lake Naomi Membership dues and when paying your PPCA or TTCA association fees, the two should not be combined on one check. A separate check to each entity is required to satisfy GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures) set forth byy the Club’s and Association’s auditors. The Club and the Associations appreciate your ti timely payments and your assistance with keeping the books in good order.

2015 Lake Naomi Club Officers Newly elected Officers of the 2015 Board of Trustees and the Board of Governors are as follows: Board of Trustees President Bob Mills Vice President Connell McGill Secretary Cary Levinson Treasurer George Bernardin Board of Governors Chair Mark Ierardi Vice Chair Caroline Kopchains All Members of the Lake Naomi Club Board of Trustees and the Board of Governors are Property Owners in Lake Naomi or Timber Trails and all serve as volunteers. Members of the Board of Trustees and Board of Governors receive no financial renumeration or special consideration of any type.

Meet Me at the Lodge Blustery February has arrived and with it comes Cabin Fever. Instead of staying cooped up in the house why not come over to the Lodge and enjoy a special treat or one of our hands-on classes. Every day from 11:30 AM -2:30 PM the Lodge serves up a scrumptious lunch. Every week Chef Frank creates a menu offering two sensational salads, two tantalizing sandwiches and two hearty homemade soups. The main dining room is warm and inviting and there’s plenty of seating space. Bring some friends, your computer or a favorite book and spend part of the afternoon with us. Our Baking Classes have become rather popular. If you see one that catches your eye and gets your mouth watering, please be sure to sign up soon. We have limited space for these classes and they always fill up. Kids in the Kitchen Events for our bakers (ages 7 and up) Saturday, February 14th from 3:30-4:45 PM - Homemade Graham Crackers and Chocolate Chip Dip ($15.00). Saturday, March 14th from 3:30-4:45 PM - Mint Chocolate Cookies and Cream Pudding Cups ($12.00). Kids in the Kitchen Events for our younger bakers (ages 2-6): Saturday, February 21st from 3:00-3:30 PM we’ll be making S’Mores Bites ($5.00) Saturday, March 21st from 3:00-3:30 PM we’ll be making Rainbow Cupcakes ($5.00). Some of the questions we always get are… can my younger children participate in the regular Kids in the Kitchen? They are the best cooks! Yes, we do allow younger children to participate in the classes; however, an adult needs to be with them at all times and will need to assist with making the recipe. How about older children participating in the Kids in the Kitchen for the 2-6 year olds? Typically, no. These recipes are kept extremely simple so that our youngest bakers can make them and older children will likely be bored, and we like to keep a relaxed atmosphere for our young bakers. Once you’ve decided on which classes your bakers want, give us a call at 570-646-6636 to get signed up. Adult in the Kitchen Event: Tuesday, February 17th from 6:00-8:00 PM we will be trying our hands at Flooded Cookie Decorating. This is where you take a simple sugar cookie and use a thinned out icing to make stunning cookies. Some Valentine’s Day ones are shown in the picture but we’ll have several different options. The cost for this class is $25.00 and you’ll take home about two dozen cookies. We’d also like to remind you to Share the Lodge with your family and friends. Every guest at the Mountaintop Lodge receives a temporary membership to the Lake Naomi Club amenities which makes us the perfect place for all of your out of town guests! Plus guests that are referred by a Lake Naomi Member receive a 10% discount on their stay by mentioning your name when they make the reservation. If you’ve ve never seen the rooms at the Lodge, feel free to stop over and ask for a tour. Weekdays are best for this but, depending on how booked we are weekend tours are available as well. Consider the Lodge for different events as well, Family Reunion anyone?

Lake Naomi Club Q & A What is the Progress with the Phase Two of the Horizon Plan? Management continues to work with the very aggressive timeline on Phase Two of the Horizon Plan. The preliminary plans have been developed by the original Community Center design team, Kimmel Bogrette Architecture and Dewey Engineering that addresses all the items listed in Phase Two of the Horizon Plan. Management has presented these plans to appropriate committees for their input. The design team is now working with the committees’ recommendations and developing cost estimates for both the finalized architectural plans and overall project cost. In addition to getting the best project prices, Management is addressing the overall impact on the Membership while the construction is being completed. A construction timeline is being developed to achieve minimal shut down time of the Community Center and the indoor pool. A delay in the start time of Phase Two is being considered due to the mechanical needs of the pool, sewage requirements for the additional restrooms and an upgrade of the electrical system. Once all this information has been finalized and approved by the Board of Governors and Board of Trustees the information will be presented to the Members. In the meantime, the progress will be communicated to the Members in the Newsletter Weekly Update emails. If you have any questions please contact General Manager Robert Jones at rjones@lakenaomiclub.com. What is the date for the Independence Day Picnic in 2015? The Independence Day Picnic in 2015 will be held on Saturday, July 4th. Why does the Clubhouse request reservations for dinner in the main dining room? The popular misconception of why the Clubhouse asks for reservations is so staff can be scheduled accordingly. While this is partially true, the primary reason for reservations is to control the flow of the dining room business to guarantee that the service staff and kitchen staff run efficiently. The most popular eating time is between 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM and if every Member arrives during this time period the operations of the Clubhouse become back logged which results in delayed service to the Membership. The goal is to provide consistent platinum service to the Members and reservations help the staff accomplish this. Walk-ins will always be welcomed but please try to make a reservation to ensure that you receive the Platinum Club Service that you deserve.
