All the Members who attended the Annual Membership Meeting were shown the first renderings of the potential expansion of the Community Center as outlined in Phase Two of the Horizon Plan. BOG Chair Mark Ierardi explained that the Committees and Boards are “sharpening their pencils” in determining how best to accomplish the goals outlined in the plan and at the same time to make sure the Club “gets it right” prior to going to the Membership for a vote. One of the items under consideration is closing in the deck area outside the Community Center Pool and creating an indoor, zero entry, shallow pool area for our youngest Members that includes some fun water features. This will allow the handicap ramp to be free of children playing on it. Another new area would be created by enclosing the current pavilion for an expanded aerobics room and additional offices. A new pavilion has been added to the proposal to house the every growing Kid Camp Programs. Additional square feet will be added to the fitness center and rearranging of the locker rooms and classrooms will help increase the much needed changing areas and restroom facilities. The Committees and Boards are also taking a look at Phase Three of the Horizon Plan to see what can be done and what it would cost to accomplish the upgrades to the Lake Naomi Tennis Center. Management is confident that it will not be too much longer until there is a final proposal to present to the Membership for their consideration. At that point we will conduct the Town Meetings so you can express your thoughts and suggestions prior to going to the Phase Two Vote. If you were not able to attend the Annual Meeting the full power point presentation is on www.LakeNaomiClub.com under What’s Happening for your review.

Don’t forget to Submit your Pictures Time is running out for you to enter your pictures for the 2016 Annual Calendar. If you want your picture to be considered for the 2016 annual calendar, we’ll need the picture or digital file by September 15, 2015. After the 2016 calendar is developed, Members will have the opportunity to vote for their four favorite calendar pictures. Each winner will be awarded 50 Club Dollars. We will be showing off some of the entries in future Reflections and on the website. Pictures that are submitted become the property of Lake Naomi Club and may be used in future promotions including the Summer Activities Calendar. Digital file size does make a difference when using a picture for print. Many pictures that were submitted in the past were too small. For a picture to be a full calendar page the file size needs to be 3,000 x 2,200 pixels. It is important to submit the original file, do not downsize the picture, many editing programs ask to downsize the picture before sending. Also most of the smart phones do produce pictures large enough to be used but again remember to send the original file. You can upload your pictures in the Online Office of the Members Section of www.LakeNaomiClub.com or send them directly to admin@ lakenaomiclub.com.

Sound Absorbers Needed One of the challenges with the new Ti Timber b T Trails il G Grill ill iis th the acoustical ti l noise i llevell when the room is crowded. Management has reached out to a few Acoustical Specialists in the area to conduct a study of what can be done to help with the acoustics in the dining room. and hopes to have this challenge rectified by next summer. In the meantime, start drinking extra wine and collect your wine corks. Yes, we are serious, thanks to a great Member suggestion that cork is a great sound absorber and cork art is a clever way to use the product. So drink up, collect your wine corks and drop them off at the Administrative Office. The Club would like to make some creative displays of wall art such as: sailboats, tennis, golf, skiing, waterfalls, etc. So help us make this happen by bringing us your corks!

White House Chefs at the Lake Naomi Clubhouse Listed below is a soup recipe from White House Chef Ryan Spiker who prepared this for the Members who attended the White House Chef dinner at the LNCH. Members loved the dinner and requested this great recipe. Creamy Sundried Tomato and Mushroom Soup Ingredients: 2 tsp dried ground marjoram 1 Tbsp garlic/shallots minced Ladies Luncheon 1 tsp cayenne pepper 1 tsp canola oil 1 tsp fresh oregano 3 cups sundried tomatoes 1 ½ cup white wine 5 cups preferred mushrooms or 4 cups vegetable stock just white button 3 cups heavy cream 1 Tbsp fresh basil salt and pepper to taste 2 tsp fresh thyme Directions: Heat oil in medium sized pot. Once hot add garlic/shallots, sweat them then add the sundried tomatoes and mushrooms. After stirring the above for 3 min add the spices and herbs. Continue to stir till aromatic. Deglaze the pot with the white wine and stir up the flavor on the bottom. Reduce the white wine by half, then add the vegetable stock. Bring the ingredients to a boil, and then reduce to a simmer. Let the soup reduce for a little time to enhance the flavor. Once the soup is reduced, add in the heavy cream. If you have an immersion blender, use that to blend the soup together. If you do not have an immersion blender, use a regular home blender. Just pour the soup a little at a time into the blender then back into another pot. Once the soup is blended fully it will thicken on its own. Bring the now blended soup back to desired eating temperature. 3

Timber Trails Grill After just a few months in business, the Timber Trails Grill is ecstatic to share the progress and success of the newly opened, casual clubhouse, which serves as the perfect complement to the Lake Naomi Clubhouse. The Timber Trails Grill, staffed by an international and local team, provides a comfortable dining experience with no reservations required daily for lunch and dinner. The team at the Grill is always prepared to gladly welcome in members, share weekly specials, and even recently helped to make the Luau a great success! The Timber Trails Grill is open from 11 AM until 9 PM, with the bar open until 10 PM, every day of the week except Mondays. These hours leave plenty of time for members and guests to stop in for lunch, dinner, or drinks over some appetizers between a tennis match or swim in the pool. The Grill offers both indoor, air-conditioned seating as well as a comfortable, outdoor scenic deck. Each week, the Timber Trails Grill offers a variety of weekly specials, such as our best-selling Wing & Beer Pitcher Special, our filling Roast Beef Sandwich, or our mouth-watering Baby Spinach & Blue Cheese Salad. Back by popular demand, Timber Trails Grill will welcome back our “RJ Lobster Roll for the entire month of August along with a few other surprises. Recently, in addition to the normal lunch and dinner service, the Timber Trails Grill was involved with the Annual Luau. The night turned out to be a great success with entertainment provided by a DJ. The fun of dancing, chatting, and drinking was accompanied by a creative and delicious meal of authentic Luau foods such as; pork tenderloin, chicken, and shrimp. To follow up this popular event, the Timber Trails Grill is looking forward to helping with the upcoming Preteen Dinner Dance and other events in the future. If you have not been by the Timber Trails Grill yet or still haven't picked a menu favorite, be sure to stop in for lunch or dinner and meet our team. If you are now a Timber Trails Grill regular, we look forward to seeing you again. Thank you for your help in making the Timber Trails Grill the success it has been and we look forward to continuing to make improvements for the future of the Grill.

Thank you Miller Family The Independence Day Community Picnic was a great success. Each year Joe Miller and his family permit the Club to utilize the private road leading to their businesses, Printing Craftsman and This Week in the Poconos, for parking for this event. The Club could not orchestrate this event without the assistance and cooperation of Club Member Joe Miller and his family. Family Adventure Race Fun

Health Forum The Activities Committee would like to extend an invitation to all Members to gather at the Community Center on Saturday, September 19, 2015 for an inspiring musical experience. Community volunteers are invited to participate. A binder will be kept with contact information on those who are willing to create a network of support to assist in general activities of daily living. These may include transportation to appointments, picking up medications/mail, companionship to provide caregiver relief. Additional Resources are also available throughout Monroe County. A Senior Services Directory is available at the Administrative Office. For more information on participating in the Good Neighbor Network please email Kelly Swingle, Community Center manager at kswingle@lakenaomiclub.com.

Important Boating and Lake Safety Reminders The Club Beach Safety Boat Operators wish to remind Members of some important nt Lake Safety Guidelines. *Jumping from paddleboards and other watercraft can be very unsafe due to the hidden rocks and stumps in the shallow water. DO NOT DIVE OR JUMP off any watercraft as it can cause very serious injury. *Boaters and fisherpersons must maintain a safe distance (never closer than 25 feet) from all other boats, beaches, marinas, sailing courses and swimming areas. *Swimming from watercraft is strongly discouraged. Boats get away from swimmers much easier than people think and swimmers quickly become exhausted trying to catch them. *All watercraft (including paddleboards and approved rafts) must be equipped with an approved wearable flotation device for EVERY person on board with an “audible device” such as a whistle, to signal for help if needed. *LNC strongly recommends all Members wear lifejackets to be prepared for the unexpected. All boaters MUST wear their lifejackets when the yellow “Lifejacket Required” flag is being flown from the Flag Pole on the peninsula at Club Beach. *Children age 12 and under must wear lifejackets at all times and may not be on the lake alone at anytime. * Another Note: If you ever hear a whistle on the lake or see something you think is concerning, please do not hesitate to contact the Gatehouse (570-646-2550) to report what you see and hear. The Gatehouse can easily radio the Club Beach Supervisor, Lifeguards and Safety Boat Operators by radio. The Safety Boat Operators have a very large area of water to cover as well as responsibilities that include running Sailing Regattas and assisting with Instructional Programs. They are there to help you and ask you to follow these listed guidelines to help make our waters a safe place to recreate.

Book B ookk C Club lubb The Book Club meets regularly on the second Monday of the month at 1:30 PM at the Community Center and is always open to new participants. Everyone is welcome – even if you haven’t read the book. The discussions talk about the book, the writing style and if it was favorable to everyone’s tastes, but does not give the plot away. This is a great way to get introduced to a variety of books that you may never have looked at otherwise. If you have questions please call Vilma Zabaleta (570) 646-7259. The upcoming books and dates for the book club are as follows: Sept. 21st - "Trail of Broken Wings" by Sejal Badani. ARC Approvals Needed A friendly reminder that all improvements, including homes, garages, attached storage sheds, porches and additions to existing structures must be approved by the Architectural Review Committee in advance of any work being done. Also, prior to the cutting of any trees or the movement of any earth, approval must be received from the ARC. Forms are available at the Administrative Office or online in the Members Section of www.LakeNaomiClub. com under Assoc. News. Landscaping Reminder When purchasing mulch for landscaping around your home, make use of earth tone colors and avoid bright colored mulch which does not blend into our wooded environment (such as reds, blues and greens). Also please do not leave wood/branch debris piles by the road side. They are aesthetically unpleasant and can be a fire hazard. Save Your Club Some Green by "Going Green" At this time, less than 10% of our entire membership "opts out" of receiving the printed version of our Reflections newsletter and receives the online version only. We know we have many, many more "environment and spending conscience" members who would be willing to "Go Green and Save Green" by receiving their newsletter electronically. If we increased this number from 10% to 30%, the Club could save over $1,000 on each Reflections mailing! That adds up to $7,000 at year! We want to hear from you! It's easy to "opt out". Just go to our website at www.LakeNaomiClub.com, click on "Members" in the upper right, then look under the "Online Sign-up" tab for "Reflections Online Request". Or simply e-mail us at admin@lakenaomiclub.com and tell us you want to start receiving your Reflections newsletter via e-mail only. Please note this applies to the Reflections newsletter only. You will continue to receive all other mailings from the Club including important meeting notifications, membership votes, etc. Also note that even if you are already signed up to receive Reflections online, you will continue to also receive the printed version until you actually opt-out. Let's see how far we can grow this small percentage of our membership who wants to receive their newsletter online only. We look forward to hearing from you to tell us you want to "Go Green". We'll keep you posted on the progress! 7

Tennis Talk A recap of summer so far. Tennis Tournament Singles Champions have been crowned! During the month of July, singles champions were determined as follows: Adam Berksen, our new Men’s A Champion, Vladimir Gurevich, who repeats as Men’s B Champion, Allison Umbricht, Women’s A Winner, and Julia Raizen, Women’s B Titlist. Making the winners of these divisions earn their titles were Finalists: Steve Segel, Men’s A, Bill DeMarco, Men’s B, Pam Fuehrer, Women’s A and Sue Tudisco, Women’s B. Congratulations to all! The month of July also saw 48 women enjoy a morning of round robin play and fun on courts doing drills with the pro staff in support of the Breast Cancer Rally. Many thanks to everyone who participated and who helped administratively in making this event a tremendous success. Our Parent/Child Round Robin event was comprised of nine teams on July 19th and despite the hot temperatures, everyone persevered throughout the afternoon and was rewarded with ice-cream refreshments after play. The Junior Club Championship tournament was also concluded during the month of July. Make sure you attend the end of the season celebration to congratulate the future adult champions of the Club. Until then you can review tourney results as they hang outside the Proshop at LNT. Doubles and Mixed Doubles Tournaments will take place throughout the month of August and should be very exciting. Watch upcoming e-blasts and weekly flyers for reminders to come watch the many great players of LNC compete. The cardio classes continue to be very popular, as the membership burns off those calories and improves their ability to hit on the run. Our teaching staff of eight pros have been very busy every day with private and group lessons, instructing the rudiments of the game for students aged 4 to 84. By the time you read this, three of the college assistants will be gone preparing for their future careers. Robin Hochguertel has accepted a job as Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach at the University of Tampa, Ben Gendron will be starting his new job as the Assistant Men’s Coach at the University of Northern Colorado and Dominique Bruce returns to Lenoir-Rhyne University to pursue a master’s degree in marketing. All three have done an A+ job and will be sorely missed. Private and Group lessons will continue with Jordan Lawson until August 15th, Zoey Djuric until the end of August, and myself along with Ruth and Pete Hessert until Labor Day. Many thanks to every Member who has taken a lesson, played in a tournament or in a team match, participated in social round robin play, bought something from the shop, or who simply showed up with a smile on their face. The tennis teaching staff appreciates your support! Best wishes for many Aces, Richard, Ruth, Pete, Jordan, Zoey, Dominique, Ben and Robin

Mid-Season Tennis Reminders Now that the tennis season is in full “swing”, we would like to point out the importance of practicing proper court etiquette. Abiding by simple guidelines helps keep our facilities clean, safe, and enjoyable for the entire Membership. Members are reminded to close court doors, avoid walking across other players’ courts, and to speak quietly on the deck, especially when others are playing nearby. All courts have trash cans on the ends of the nets for the disposal of empty cups, water bottles, ball can tops and canisters. P Please use the cigarette butt container provided at the entrances of the Tennis Facilit ities to allow for proper cigarette butt disposal. A group seating for dinner is available in the Lake Naomi Clubhouse at 6:00 PM on Saturday with advanced reservation required. The Butts Cup trophy which is traditionally awarded to the highest scoring Junior skipper will be up for grabs. Juniors interested in sailing should notify the Sailing Instructors as soon as possible so they can secure the number of boats needed. Sailing Committee Members are also available to Crew for Juniors less comfortable in the larger boats. The same offer applies to adults. If you’ve sailed a Duster in the past but just don’t have one now, contact the Sailing Office or any of the Sailing Committee Members who will be happy to find you an available boat so that you too can join the fun.

Important Watercraft Clarifications Did you know the State of PA considers paddleboards watercraft which means they are subject to the same regulations? That translates to paddleboards needing to be registered and stickered in the same manner as all other watercraft at LNC. Inflatable rafts are only permitted off shore if US Coastguard approved, made of durable, reinforced fabric and have at least two buoyancy chambers. They too must be registered in order to be used as watercraft in the lake. Floating water trampolines are only permitted at private beaches if secured to a private dock and are not permitted in the middle of the lake. Inflatable “Lily Pad” or other inflatable rafts must also remain at private beaches or may be used at amenity beaches when approved and monitored by lifeguards.

LNC Sailing Association Annual Meeting The Annual Meeting and Election of Officers of the Lake Naomi Club Sailing Association will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 7th in the Tall Timber Room of the Lake Naomi Clubhouse. This is an open meeting and all Club Members are invited to attend. A summary of the Summer’s events will be provided and suggestions for the 2016 season will be received for further planning by the Sailing Committee and Management throughout the year.

Stormy Weather *Boating, swimming and sailing in stormy weather is extremely dangerous! Please pay attention to the weather. All watercraft must be brought to shore as soon as the first signs of storms begin to appear. Dark clouds and wind are signs you need to head for shore immediately. Please do not wait until thunder is heard, because by then lightening is often in the area as well. It is much safer to be proactive when it looks like a storm is “brewing”.

Recreation Tennis Court Reservations The Recreation Tennis Courts by North Beach are available daily from 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM during the main summer season, through Labor Day. PLEASE Do Not Feed the Ducks We know they’re cute and we love to see them close up… Some of you even like to get close enough to feed them. BUT here’s the simple problem… when ducks eat they poop! Yes, we forget that part. They leave their mess on the beaches where children dig in the sand, in the water where everyone enjoys a swim, and on the decks and patios where we all like to walk bare footed. Duck feces decreases your water quality and the entire beach experience for everyone, so please help the health of your lake and beaches. Keep them free of food and debris. Thank you!

Tin Cup Tribune The course is in a great shape so come out and play some golf! Here are a few events to keep in mind for the remainder of the season: Saturday, August 15th - Luau Night Golf Sunday,August 16th - Couples Championship Saturday, August 22nd and Sunday, August 23rd - Club/Junior Championship Please remember to take care of our course. Todd Moyer and his staff work diligently to keep the course beautiful. You can help by filling your divots with sand on the tee-boxes, replacing divots in the fairway, repairing your ball marks on the green and raking bunkers. These simple guidelines of etiquette will make it a much more enjoyable round for all. Golf tip of the Month- Quite Eye for putting. When putting try to pick a spot out on or in front of the ball. Most people are not aware of their eyes moving during the course of a putting stroke. By focusing on the logo, marked area of the ball or even a spot ahead of the ball it will help your brain to focus on an exact spot to hit instead of looking at the club head or different parts of the golf ball throughout the course of a stroke. This will help increase feel and speed control.

LN-TT Breast Cancer Rally a Great Success This year’s Lake Naomi-Timber Trails Breast Cancer Rally was a huge success. Of course, this would not have been possible without the support of members, guests and staff. The 5K was run, once again, through the beautiful Pinecrest Lake Community. The excitement of the participants was palpable, the sun was shining and the glow from the participants as they crossed the finish line was unmistakable. The carnivall lik like atmosphere t h was added dd d to by Journeys Day Spa who was available to give free rub downs to the runners and our very own Chris Daggett who served as MC.! This year, we added a Lake Naomi-Timber Trails Bridge Tournament. The Club Grill was a beautiful and comfortable venue. It was a great success and we look forward to an even better event in 2016. Tennis was its usual fun time. The weather really cooperated with beautiful sunny skies and low humidity. The round robin format was once again a big hit with the players. Golf was a perfect sunny day. The course was beautifully groomed and decorated with pink flags on the greens, pink cups for the holes and flowers to mark the tees. Peter supplied pink lemonade and snacks to replenish the golfers during play with over 130 women participating. Mulligans were sold before each of the sessions to add to the funds collected for Linda Creed. The dinner at the Clubhouse was well attended and included raffles, fantastic live and silent auctions, and a delicious meal. A highlight of the evening occurred when a Linda Creed Organization recipient, Rashaunda Black, spoke to the women, giving a face to the funds raised by Lake Naomi-Timber Trails. All of these events, in addition to the Sponsor Book/Pink Pages provide the funds that are raised for the Linda Creed Breast Cancer Organization. All of this money stays in the Pocono area to help women get mammograms, have biopsies if necessary y and cover some living expenses that may accrue during treatment. We want to thank all the women and men who helped us with this Herculean task. We are so fortunate to live here and to have the opportunity to give back to the community that provides so much enjoyment to us. Laura Bacon, Nancy Mills, Debbie Lenderink

Free Swimming In the Lake Swimming in the Lake in areas other than the beaches is only permitted if closely accompanied by an attending boat equipped with a wearable flotation device for both the boater and the swimmer. The boater and swimmer must also be equipped with a whistle that can be heard at least one-half mile to signal for help if the swimmer were to tire, cramp or need assistance for any other reason. The Sailing Office must be contacted (570-646LAKE) in advance to permit Lake Swimming and has the authority to deny lake swimming during times of heavy boating usage or with severe weather pending.

The Committee on Environmental Protection The Committee on Environmental Protection is being reshaped to fit our community’s needs and desires and will now be referred to as the Environmental Stewardship Committee. While many of our committee members remain, we are looking for new members who can provide the insight and assistance that this committee needs. We are looking for Lake Naomi Club members who are interested in environmental education, programming, conservation and awareness. The committee hopes to have its new focus geared towards educational community programs and projects that support the Environmental Stewardship Committee’s m mission statement and goals. While it is not required the committee would en encourage anyone with a background in environmental education or progr gramming of resource management to be a part of this new vision of the co committee. Also look to future issues of Reflections for articles on how you an and your family can help us with these ef efforts. Suggestions and questions can be directed to Kelly Swingle at kkswingle@lakenaomiclub.com.

Meet Me at the Lodge It’s time for us to ask for your help. From August 3 until August 18th, nominations will be open for the Pocono Record’s Reader’s Choice Awards. The Mountaintop Lodge has been chosen as the Best Bed & Breakfast the last two years and we’d love to make it happen again. There will be three rounds for us to make it through. Keep an eye on our Facebook or on Twitter at @mountaintopbnb for reminders. While we still have plenty of summer days to enjoy, there are exciting things on the horizon at the Mountaintop Lodge! From October 16 -18 we’ll be taking a trip back to 1932. Opposition Mobster Kingpins and their organizations will be taking up residence at the Lodge to form a truce, if only for the weekend, so they can search for a treasure hidden here by their former Godfather, Poppa Red Zitt. Will you be here to help find the treasure? Award winning stand-up comic Jim Zahoroiko will be bringing his troupe of professional interactive entertainers to the Lodge for a “Mystery Adventure” that puts YOU in the middle of the action. Your character may find an important clue, be a major suspect, a murder victim or more. You won’t want to miss out. You’ll have a chance to experience the hospitality of the Mountaintop Lodge plus a Friday night Cocktail Party, Saturday breakfast, Saturday night dinner and dessert bar and Sunday breakfast while the mystery swirls around you. It’s like re-living history, kind of….sort of….maybe….not really. Call for details and pricing (570) 646-6636. rd

Lake Naomi Club Q & A Why are there two orange cones blocking two parking spaces in front of the LNCH loading dock? The Club must block these two spaces off on the day the garbage is scheduled for pick-up. If this area is blocked, the garbage truck cannot get to the LNCH dumpster. The contractor will not return until the next scheduled pick-up thus creating an overflow of garbage. Please avoid these spaces when the orange cones are out. What is the difference between the Board of Governors, the Committees and the Board of Trustees? The Committees typically deal with a very specific area of the Club’s operation (i.e. Golf, Clubhouse, Finance, etc.). The Committees discuss matters that deal with their area of the operation and then make recommendations to the Board of Governors (BOG). The BOG is comprised of Committee Chairs as well as At-Large Members and numbers approximately twenty-five. The BOG is an Advisory Board that makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees (BOT). The BOT is the seven Member Board that has the ultimate financial, legal and fiduciary responsibility for the Club’s assets and operations. The other night I was told that it was past the time when my 7 yr old was able to use the Wi-Fi Lounge at Club Beach. Can you clarify the purpose and hours of this lounge? The Boat House Lounge was added to address two major suggestions for the membership. The first was a place where teens could meet and gather to build relationships. The second suggestion was to provide a quiet spot in the mornings and afternoons so Members could take a break from the sun check their emails and/or get a little work done. With this in mind the lounge is exclusive to 14-18 yrs olds after 7:00 PM so it can become a teen lounge without the presence of adults and young kids hanging out. Before 5:00 PM the Club asks that children under the age of 14 are supervised to help maintain the quiet work space. To meet the needs of the younger Members, additional seating and more activities have been added to the game room.
