SWIM LESSONS (continued (continued)) REGISTRATION INFORMATION • Classes are for a two week period, meeting Monday - Thursday. • Class sizes are limited and pre-registration is required. Stop by or call the Community Center at (570) 646-8585 to register. • Swim lessons are included in the pool membership at no extra charge. (Does not include private lessons) • Swim levels are based on ability. • The student will be evaluated the first day on his or her swimming ability and will be placed in the appropriate Swim Level. • Once classes begin students may be moved by the instructors into a different group to better fit their ability. • All classes in 2016 will be held at the Lake Naomi Pool due to the CCP construction.

GUIDELINES When arriving for swim lessons, parents should bring their child to the assigned area for their lesson. Parents are then asked to wait and observe from the pool deck until the lesson is completed. This policy is to enhance the student/instructor relationship. There will be times during lessons when parents are able to observe the progress of their child’s swimming abilities more closely and take pictures if so desired. Instructors will notify parents of these times.

CLASS LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS Parent and Child (Level 1 and Level 2) Children age 6 months to 3 years old. An adult must accompany each child in the water for each lesson. This class introduces basic skills to parents and children. Parents are taught to safely work with their child in the water, including how to appropriately support and hold their child in the water and how to prepare and encourage their child to participate fully and try the skills. Several water safety topics are also introduced and directed to parents. Children are introduced to basic skills that lay a foundation to help them learn to swim in the future.

Older Teen & Adults (Level 1 and Level 2) Level 1 – This class is for non-swimmers and/or beginners who are only comfortable in shallow water. The goal is to learn basics of swimming and to help overcome fears of the water. Level 2 – This class is for swimmers who are able to swim a full length of the pool using any stroke. The goal is to learn proper technique and further develop strokes, learn additional strokes, improve endurance and become more proficient in the water.

AMERICAN RED CROSS LEARN-TO-SWIM FOR PRE-SCHOOL & GRADE SCHOOL Level 1 - Introduction to Water Skills There are no prerequisites for this level. The objectives of Level 1 are to learn basic personal water safety information and skills, to help participants feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely. In Level 1, participants learn elementary aquatic skills, which they build on as they progress through the six Learn-To-Swim levels. At

this level, participants begin developing good attitudes about swimming and water safety, good swimming habits and safe practices in and around the water.

Level 2 - Fundamental Aquatics Skills Participants entering this course must have a Level 1 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements of Level 1. The objective of Level 2 is to give participants success with fundamental skills. Participants learn to float without support and to recover to a vertical position. This level marks the beginning of true locomotion skills. Participants continue to explore simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on the front and back to lay the foundation for future strokes.

Level 3 - Stroke Development Participants entering this course must have a Level 2 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 2. The objectives of Level 3 are for participants to learn the survival float, the elementary backstroke and to coordinate the front crawl. They are introduced to the scissors kick and the dolphin kick and build on the fundamentals of treading water. Participants also learn rules for headfirst entries and begin to learn to enter the water headfirst from the side of the pool (if the water is 9 feet deep or deeper).

Level 4 - Stroke Improvement Participants entering this course must have a Level 3 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 3. The objectives of Level 4 are to develop confidence in strokes learned thus far and to improve other aquatic skills. Participants improve their skills and increase their endurance by swimming familiar strokes (front crawl, elementary backstroke) for greater distances. Students also continue to build upon the scissors kick and dolphin kick by adding the arms for sidestroke and butterfly. The back crawl and the breaststroke are introduced in Level 4, as well as the basics of turning at a wall.

Level 5 - Stroke Refinement Participants entering this course must have a Level 4 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 4. The objectives of Level 5 are to coordinate and refine strokes. Participants refine their performance of all the strokes P (front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke) O and increase their distances. Flip turns on the front and back are also introduced. O

Level 6 - Swimming and Skill Proficiency Participants entering this course must have a Level 5 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 5. The objectives of Level 6 are to refine strokes so students swim them with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Level 6 is designed with “menu” options - Personal Water Safety, Fundamentals of Diving and Fitness Swimmer. These options focus on preparing participants for more advanced courses, such as Water Safety Instructor, or other aquatic activities, such as competitive swimming or diving.

Shallow & Deep Water Fitness Classes will be offered at the TTP beginning Monday June 27 as outlined in the Fitness Section.

LAKE NAOMI CLUB 2016 LAKES COMMITTEE PROGRAMS 26th Annual Lake Naomi Bass Tournament

Kayak Tour

Sunday, July 3 - From 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Pre-registration required. Register at the Community Center by Saturday, July 2 . The two age categories are Junior (15 and under), and Adult (16 and older). Tournament Rules are available upon registration. The tournament will be confined to Lake Naomi only. All fish must be live released. A barbeque lunch and awards reception will follow at 12:30 PM at the Park at Club Beach.

Sunday, July 17 - Meet at Club Beach at 10:00 AM. A Lakes Committee Volunteer leads an on water tour of Lake Naomi providing points of interest and information along the way. Members must either have their own kayak or make prior arrangements to rent a LNC kayak at the sailing office by calling 570-646-LAKE.

Kids’ Fishing Clinic and Youth Derby Saturday, July 9 - From 9:00 - 11:00 AM at Trout Pond. Youth and their parents are encouraged to participate in this educational Clinic. Gather to learn tips on bait, equipment, live release and casting, as well as general information about fishing the Club’s lakes, ponds, and streams. Club Members and their Guests age 14 and younger are invited to stay and compete in the Fishing Derby. Prizes will be awarded to the top three places in the categories of Most Fish and Longest Fish. Be sure to bring your fishing rod. A limited number of rods will be available to borrow.

Kid’s Fishing Lessons Every Thursday during the weeks that Kids Klub is in session, members of the Lakes Committee take kids out fishing on Lake Naomi on their pontoon boat “Big Fish” from 9 am – 11 am leaving from the docks at the Administration Office. Children must be between the ages of 6 – 13. Sign-up for this is at the Community Center starting the previous Sunday of each week. Kids will learn things like the proper technique of baiting a hook, reeling in a fish and the proper way to release the fish without harm. This is a perfect opportunity to introduce the great sport of fishing to your children.

Clean Up Your Fishing Site! The Lakes and Streams throughout the Lake Naomi and Timber Trails Community are shared by fellow Club Members for various recreation activities. It is essential for all fisherpersons to clean up their fishing sites before they leave. Litter, including bait containers, fishing line and plastic and paper wrappers, are unsightly to Club Members and a potential danger to wildlife and bare feet.

PA Fishing License Purchase your fishing license online at PA Fish and Boat Commission website – www. fish.state.pa.us/license.htm. It only takes a few moments to purchase your PA Fishing License and related permits (stamps). If you rent your home please share this information with your renters so they too can enjoy great fishing at LN-TT. Any questions on the locations of sport and bait shops in our area where you can obtain regulations, laws and licensing should be directed to the Administrative Office (570) 646-9191.

Special Note: The Lakes Committee encourages LIVE RELEASE of all Trout. All bass and walleye must be live released. Takes special care to not over tire, squeeze or injure the fish. If possible, keep the fish in the water and gently remove the hook and release when fish is revived. If fish is deeply hooked simply cut your line close to the fish’s mouth. Releasing these species not only increases reproduction, but allows them to provide you sport another day.

There will be six teams in a doubles competition format. Each team will have a mixture of abilities so that the competition will be against opponents of similar levels. Players self rate themselves according to the National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP).

Two hard courts are available to any Lake Naomi Club Member as part of the Regular Membership Fee. These courts are located in Lake Naomi at Woodland and Naomi Avenues by the basketball court and across from North Beach. Open dates and reservations for these courts are as follows:

Complete Registration Forms accompanied by the $20 Registration Fee must be submitted to the Lake Naomi Tennis Center Pro Shop or submitted online at www.lakenaomiclub.com. The courts will be open and available for use from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM each day. Advanced reservations can be made in the Main Summer Season by calling the Lake Naomi Tennis Center at 570-646-7580. These reservations will be accepted two days in advance after 8:00 AM. One hour of court time per Membership is permitted per court. However, if after Noon on the day prior to play open time is still available, additional court time may be reserved. If you wish to reserve and play on the same day, you may do so in person at the Recreation Tennis Courts by signing the posted court reservation sheet.

REFUND POLICY

DISCIPLINE POLICY

The following policies are for all programs other than Klub Day Camps. For information on Klub Day Camp refund polices please refer to the Klub Day Camp Catalog.

The philosophies of our programs are based on mutual respect being shown for and between all members and staff. We relate to children on an individual basis. Rules, expectations and consequences will be made known to all children upon entry into the program. Should a discipline problem arise our first actions are to guide or redirect that individual to better behavior and give a verbal warning. Methods such as “timeouts or cool down periods will be used to help relieve these situations. If the young member continues to act inappropriately, the parent/guardian will be notified and documentation of the behavior past and present will begin. If these steps do not correct the problem, the parent/guardian, child, counselor and/or manager will meet to discuss corrective procedures. Should this process prove unsuccessful, the young member may be dismissed from the program and possibly unable to participate for a determined time period. Under no circumstance will physical attacks be allowed, young members who are physically harmful to staff or other participants will be dismissed from the program.

48 HOUR RULE If the registrant cancels from the program/trip/class/etc. 48 hours in advance, they will receive a refund minus a $5 processing fee. If the registrant cancels from the program/trip/class/etc. in less than 48 hours, but the space gets filled, they may receive a refund minus a $5 processing fee. If a registrant does not cancel 48 hours ahead of time or the space cannot be filled, there will be no refund. REGISTRATION MAY BE TERMINATED WITHOUT PENALTY FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS: A. Cancellation of a program/trip/class/etc. by the Lake Naomi Club. B. Change in scheduled meeting time of a program/trip/class/etc. by Lake Naomi Club which prohibits attendance. C. Extended illness (doctor certificate required)

GENERAL POLICIES 1. All requests for refunds must be made in writing. 2. Refund request forms are available at the Community Center during regular operating hours. Refund requests will not be accepted at any other location. 3. All refunds must be approved by the Department Manager. 4. All refunds will be issued by original form of payment. (Check or credit back to credit card)

ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS CONTACT: Kelly Swingle, Community Center Manager or Crystal Bankes, Recreation Manager at (570) 646-8585

LATE PICK-UP POLICY The Lake Naomi Club staff works to provide your children with the best care possible during programming hours. The hours are set for programs in order to give you and the staff the ability to manage time and coordinate with the many other programs in the community. Late pick-ups often require staff to remain long after the program ends resulting in unbudgeted payroll expenses. In order to offset the cost of staffing and to encourage timely pick-ups the Recreation Committee has developed a Late Pick-Up Policy. Please note that Kids Klub ends at 12 Noon, Afternoon Klub ends at 3:00 PM and Night Recreation ends at 10 PM. If you are running late please call the Community Center at 570-646-8585 so your child does not worry about you. A late fee of $20 will be assessed after the program closes. Ten minutes after the program closes an additional $1.00 per minute will be added to the $20 late fee. The fee may be paid at the front desk of the Community Center when you pick-up your child. R E C R E A T I O N

LAKE NAOMI - TIMBER TRAILS SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE Please Note: The Shuttle Bus Stops and Times discussed in this publication are based on the RED Shuttle Bus Route. Due to much expansion here at Lake Naomi Club, we now have three different shuttle bus routes: The GREEN and YELLOW Routes run during the day for Kids Klub, Afternoon Klub and Kub Klub (these routes, stops and times can be found in the Kids Klub/Afternoon Klub and Kub Klub brochures).

FAQ: How will I know which bus route is being run when all the busses look the same? Answer: When the Red Shuttle Bus Route is the one taking place, there will be red markings on the front window, back window and side windows of the bus.

The RED Route runs for Night Rec., Pre-Teen and Teen Outings, other Special Events and drop-off for Kids Klub Field Trips.

3. All times listed on the schedule are approximate times, kindly allow five to ten minutes either way.

1. The Lake Naomi Club Shuttle Bus Service is for participants utilizing the above programs only.

4. The Shuttle Bus will be happy to pick up any children (utilizing the above programs) between the stops listed anywhere along the route provided the bus can make a safe pick up. Just flag the bus down. The bus will NOT make pick-ups or drop-offs which are not located along the route.

2. The Red Shuttle Bus is based on a one hour run, therefore for any given program, the Shuttle Bus will begin its route one hour prior to the program starting. For example:

If your stop is Conestoga and Long Rifle Road, and the trip you are going on meets at the Community Center at 5:30 PM, you can be expected to be picked up at 4:46 PM.

Please Note: Pick-up times will always remain the same (the 1 hour before an event/program/trip); however drop off times will vary according to how many children are riding the bus. For example:

If drop off is scheduled to be one hour after the dance from 10:30 - 11:30 PM, but there are only three children on the bus to be dropped off, the bus driver will go immediately to these three stops and not do the entire route in succession (which takes the whole 1 hour).

5. The Shuttle Bus is not a school bus - other drivers are not required by law to stop for it. Please instruct your children not to cross the street when they see the bus until the driver signals them to do so. 6. There is no charge for the use of the Shuttle Bus Service. 7. The shuttle bus service is a privilege. Anyone endangering the safety of the bus driver or other children on the bus will not be allowed to use this service.
