To rectify this oversight, these outstanding clubs are being recognized with the Clubs of ExcellenceTM! All past and future clubs will be honored at the annual Excellence in Club Management Awards Reception & Dinner held during the annual CMAA World Conference. They will also be honored during the Awards Presentation at each club. Congratulations to the below Clubs of ExcellenceTM for their outstanding achievements! The article goes on to list 75 clubs throughout the country, and we are very happy to announce that the Lake Naomi Club was one of them! Congratulations to the Club, our Membership, past and current Management! The entire article is listed under What’s Happening atwww.LakeNaomiClub.com.

Holiday Greetings!

The arrival of the joyous Holiday Season is a vivid reminder of how quickly time passes. Was it not just yesterday when Members were sitting at the Lake Naomi Pool or Club Beach absorbing the wonderful sun rays, or playing a round of golf or calling for court times? Now the temperatures are declining, the leaves have fallen and the days are getting shorter. All these seasonal changes remind us that the Holiday Season is near. With all of the holiday propaganda, it's easy to lose sight of what is truly important this time of year. What's important varies from Member to Member, but everyone should take a minute to shut out the media, turn off your all your digital devices, and truly reflect on what you are thankful for. Remind yourself how lucky you are, no matter what your circumstances, and share it with the people closest to you. This is also the perfect time to remember our Lake Naomi Club family and to say thank you. Thank you to all the Committee Members, Board of Governors and Board of Trustees for the countless hours and the dedication to ensuring that the Members’ Lake Naomi - Timber Trails home continues to be their co favorite retreat. Also fa thank you to Manth ag agement and Team M Members who strive to ensure that the enti tire Members’ experi riences are top notch. As we say goodby bye to 2015 and welco come 2016, may the jo joy of this holiday se season last throughou out the year for you an and your loved ones.

Sailors and their families gathered in the Logan Steele Community Center Pavilion to recap the summer, honor the season’s high scoring sailors, and receive their awards, stat sheets and Rugby tanks which was this year’s sailing program memento. Pizza and cake were served by the Sailing Committee Volunteers and a great time was had by all.

22015 RC Laser WINTER Sailing Schedule What is an RC Laser? Radio Controlled Laser Sailboats (1/4 scale to regular Lasers) that sail at LNC year round and in the pool with fan powered wind in the winter. se On most of the scheduled days, the RC Laser Fleet #9 sailors are running practice O starts st and races. (That is, no scores are kept.) The races are scheduled on Sundays from 8 AM to 10 AM – which means they sail before pool hours to not interfere fr with w swimmers. Members without boats are always invited to watch and on most days will be encouraged to try out sailing an RC Laser as there is usually an extra boat or one en of o the regulars will lend and instruct. The sailing days are: Nov. 22nd, Dec. 6th, Dec. 20th, Jan. 10th, Jan. 24th, Feb. 7th, Feb 21st, March 6th, and March 20th. The annual Winter Regatta will be held FebF ruary ru 7th. As far as we know, our indoor sailing is the only regular indoor sailing in the th world. It is known in Laser sailing circles as the 'World Indoor Sailing Championship'. p In fact, it does attract a few of the world's best RC sailors. (There is only room ro for a small number of boats to race at the same time.) So the Winter Regatta iss a really special time tim me for sp spectators and the one event when boats are not available for others to tryout. The Winter Regatta starts at 7 AM and runs until 11 AM. Be aware that if regular sailor participation looks to be very low RC sailing is subject to being canceled. Contact Meredith Sensenig msensenig@lakenaomiclub.com for information on last minute changes in the schedule. 8

End of Green LNC SVCs As you know LNC has gone through the lengthy process of upgrading the club wide computer system. The new gold stored value cards work directly with the point-of-sale terminals that have been installed at all LNC locations. The green SVCs are not compatible with these terminals. The older swipe machines will no longer be used as of January 1, 2016. Please make it a point to utilize any value on your green SVCs and then dispose of them. Any funds still on your green card can be transferred to the new gold cards at the Administrative Office prior to the end of the year.

Sledding Hill The Lake Naomi Club sledding hill located outside of the Lake Naomi Clubhouse will again be available to Members this winter season. The sledding hill will be open when weather permits. When the sledding hill is open the hours of operation are from dawn until dusk. It is absolutely unsafe to ride the sledding hill after dark so please refrain from doing so. The sledding hill will be posted as “Closed” when it is considered unsafe to ride. Please abide by the postings each day in order to keep your entire family safe.

We Have A Vacation Spot For You When you hear your colleagues at work, your neighbors and your friends talking about their summer vacations and the fact that they had to cut their vacation short due to beaches being closed as a result of shark sightings or that traffic was terrible or there was nothing for the kids to do but go to the boardwalk and spend money -- be sure to tell them that you have a great vacation spot for them in the Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania. People often book their vacation rentals early and many times go back to a less than satisfying location based on force of habit. It is not too early to plant the seed in order to have your colleagues, neighbors and friends spend their 2016 summer vacation at Lake Naomi - Timber Trails, the only Five Star Platinum Club Community in the Northeast. There is also the winter getaway you can suggest at the Mountaintop Lodge. Be sure to tell them that Lake Naomi - Timber Trails has seven sandy beaches and a whole lot more. Like fast-dry, soft surface tennis courts, a wonderful golf course, swimming pool with a great water slide, swimming pool with aquatic climbing wall, the Kid’s Klub Camp Program, creative teen and pre-teen programs, adult activities, a Clubhouse-Restaurant, three lakes and two ponds, sailing, boating, windsurfing, canoeing, paddle boarding, mountain biking, fishing, hiking and outdoor programs as well as top-notch instructional programs in swimming, sailing, tennis, golf and archery. Then there is the award winning 48,000 square foot Logan Steele Community Center. The Community Center features an indoor swimming pool, fitness center and aerobics studio, multi-purpose space capable of accommodating two indoor tennis courts, a covered pavilion, paddle tennis court, sports fields, archery range and much, much, more. If the Club can help you in attracting others to vacation in the Community by providing you with DVD’s, Leisure Service Guides, Calendars, Newsletters, Activity Flyers and the like, just give Communications/Marketing Manager Laura Altemose a call at (570) 646-9191, ext. 104 or email her at laltemose@lakenaomiclub.com. If you n e e d Laura to speak directly with potential visitors, she will be glad to do that as well. Start now! Promote your Five Star Platinum Club Community and the Mountaintop Lodge. Planning for a great 2016 Season is underway.

Temporary Memberships Are Important The total number of families who subscribed to the Club’s Temporary Membership (TM) to date in 2015 is 845. Temporary Memberships for 2015 are projected to generate $345,000 in fees towards the annual operations budget by years end. Temporary Members are described as a family living on a temporary basis in the home of a Club Member when the Home Owner/Club Member is not present. This includes those renting homes as well as Family Members and Colleagues of Club Members utilizing homes without the Club Member being present. Temporary Memberships are very important to the Club as not only do Temporary Members generate a significant amount of revenue for the Club, but they also represent the number two source of future Club Members. IIs the th IIce S Safe f ffor Y You, Y Your F Friends i d and Equipment? With winter on its way, the ice fishing season will be upon us. To ensure a safe time while ice fishing, you must remember to follow certain precautions. Carelessness is the number one enemy of ice fisherpersons and knowledge is the number one weapon against that enemy. The best equipment is of no value if you are in icy water fighting to escape. Please take the following precautions when ice fishing to ensure yourself and others of a good time. Know the ice. When selecting a location, check the ice by chipping it with a sharp object. If ice chips and has a clinking sound, it is good ice. If it crumbles and has a dull sound, it is unsafe. Stickups, piers or any protruding structures cause weak ice. Areas that have or are near currents, springs and aerators are also areas that may have weak ice. Please stay clear of these areas. Two inches of clear blue ice can support one person traveling on foot, three inches can support a group traveling in single file. Four or more inches of ice is considered safe for general use – such as a group of ice fisherpersons. Ice that is four inches thick will hold up to 260 pounds, over six inches is safe for you and your equipment. Cloudy or opaque ice may support less weight, and slush ice on a lake is only one-half as strong as clear blue ice. Before venturing out onto the ice, exercise extreme caution – especially during the first ice cover and during the late winter months when rapid changes occur in ice structure. Black ice is clear and has no snow frozen in it. This can be safe but it is difficult to see water holes on a calm day when there are no ripples on the water. It is very slippery and ice creepers for your footwear are a must. It's always a good idea to use the buddy system when ice fishing. In the event that you break through the ice, stay calm and do not panic, put your arms up and lay them on the ice, your clothing will freeze and adhere to the ice. This will keep your body at a level accessible for rescue. Another rescue method is to take two large spikes and tie a leather thong to the head of each spike. Hang this device around your shoulders and slip the spikes in your breast pockets. If you should fall through the ice, grab the spikes to claw your way out of the water. REMEMBER, it is IMPOSSIBLE to crawl out of slippery ice if the water is more than waist deep. When trying to locate fish, do not move more than 10 feet from one hole to a new hole. Fish run in schools and will be feeding on plankton within a certain area. Depth of the ice is also very critical: at the first safe ice, fishing is best in the shallow water areas, as the ice thickens, the fish move into the deeper water areas.

2016 Dues Payment Procedure Continuing with the policy instituted in 2013, we will again be mailing the 2016 dues invoice to all Club Members on or about December 15, 2015. There is a substantial discount if dues are paid on or before March 15th. Members may submit payment beginning December 15th by mail, in person, via our website, or over the phone. All payments received between December 15th through January 2nd will be recorded as being received on January 2nd. These payments will be held together and drawn at random for assignment of boat/canoe/kayak racks. Payments received beginning January 3rd and after will be considered on a first paid, first assigned basis according to the date received. Club Members are also reminded that the policy of racks being assigned based on the location of their home remains the same: Members making payment through January 31st (including all “early” payments received between December 15th and January 2nd) who are requesting racks in their assigned area get first preference to those racks. Requests from these members for assignments outside of their area will be made beginning February 1st, based on availability of racks at that time. All payments received after January 31st will be assigned on a first paid, first assigned basis, based on availability at that time, to the member’s requested area (without regard to their area of assignment). Please note that no payments received between December 15th and January 2nd will actually be processed until after January 2nd. This means checks will not be cashed nor will credit card payments be processed (EXCEPT payments made on our website which are processed immediately but will still be recorded as being received on January 2nd). We remind all members that early payment gives them the best possible chance for their desired assignment. Please feel free to contact the Administrative Office if you have any questions regarding this information.

Lake Naomi Club Q & A I have seen tree cutting happening in the community without a permit posted. Doesn’t tree removal (including the removal of limbs) require a permit? All cutting or trimming of trees requires that the homeowner (or the contractor on behalf of the homeowner) apply for a tree removal/tree trimming permit. Any trees, limbs, shrubs or other growth that is removed without a permit and that compromises the front, rear or side buffers will need to be replaced. This is especially important when tree work is done to a Lake Front area. All home owners who have property that borders Lake Naomi want to have a view of the lake. To balance in keeping the natural buffers around the Lake, it is very important for the home owner and the Club to work together to protect that buffer while still giving the home owner the view they have made a significant investment in. Hence, the term “buffered view” being the goal. The permit requirement is not meant to be detriment to a home owner getting the results they desire, but it is a means of working together to preserve the beauty of Lake Naomi for all Members to enjoy. If you see work being done without a permit please contact the Administrative Office. With the new Community Garbage Collection, what time does my garbage have to be out? Garbage collection begins in both communities on their assigned days at 7:00AM. Garbage should be out and ready for pick up by 7:00AM. The route that the drivers take has been known to change, so even if you are used to a 10:00 pick up that could change to 7:00AM at any time! My garbage was missed this week and now the bear got into it. Why did that happen and what should I do? The Community Garbage program is constantly improving but given the nature of the business will never be perfect. We all need to work together to make the program work which includes County Waste being more diligent when doing the pick-up. If your garbage is missed, please report it to the Administrative office as soon as possible so County Waste can be sent back to retrieve it. If for some reason County Waste cannot return in a timely manner, Lake Naomi Club litter patrol will retrieve the garbage. However, as a Member of the Community it is your responsibility to place you garbage in a bear proof receptacle and then place that receptacle inside of a bear resistant wooden box, take your cans in, or place them in a location camouflaged by landscaping. Placing a regular plastic can or a standard metal can out by the road or even inside the wood structure is asking for the bear to come and rip it apart; especially if you put your garbage out on a Sunday night. The Club continues to recommend the purchase of a bear resistant Bearicuda receptacle or other bear proof brand container. The 30 gallon Bearicuda cans, while small, have a seal inside the twist off top that contains the smells. The larger stealth models are steel lined and have a two handed locking system. The Club has sold (wholesale, you pay only what we pay to the manufacturer) in excess of 250 of these cans. We need everyone’s help to deter the bears. Please contact the Administrative Office if you are in need of a Bearicuda. I see garbage cans out by the road, not in a wooden bin. I thought all cans had to be hidden from view in an approved wooden structure? The ARC Standards and Requirements and the Garbage Policies of the Associations do state that all garbage cans must be placed in a wooden structure. This was done for two reasons, aesthetics and bear protection. Now we all know that a bear can simply pick those structures up and throw them like a beach ball. So unless you have a bear proof can inside, the bear is going to damage the structure to get to the can or bag he smells inside. The structures do create a more pleasing aesthetic for the Community, putting the cans out of sight. With the introduction of the new garbage program, and to give everyone time to get the needed cans and a bin to put them in, it has not been enforced for the past few months. However, the ARC Inspector will begin to notify those home owners that continually leave the cans out by the road. The cans must be placed inside a wooden structure, taken into the garage or camouflaged by landscaping. Lake Naomi – Timber Trails is a beautiful community, let’s all do our part to keep it that way! 12
