Dear Parents and Students,

We are pleased to introduce Summer at Lakehill 2025, designed for children ages 5 to 18. Our summer programs will be held from June 2 to July 25, 2025. We hope you find the information in this catalog helpful as you plan your children’s summer activities.

Our summer program includes seven one-week sessions, either in a full-day or a half-day format. Complimentary before-camp and after-camp care are also provided. Our camps include exciting offerings in academics, arts, and sports and offer you the opportunity to select from a wide variety of options. Summer is a time to be creative, explore new worlds, sharpen skills, and have fun! Summer at Lakehill camps are carefully planned to promote excellence in education, athletics, and recreation while encouraging students to have fun in a creative and supportive learning environment.

Our faculty is at the heart of the summer experience at Lakehill. Their passions, talents, and skills, combined with outstanding energy and enthusiasm, result in the creation of an unforgettable summer for our students.

Summer at Lakehill is unique in offering quality, teacher-led camps at an affordable price, which includes before-camp (8 am - 9 am) and after-camp (4 pm - 5:30 pm) care every day without an additional fee.

Main Campus CAMP LOCATIONS

Most Summer at Lakehill camps are held at the Main Campus. Located in the heart of Lakewood, the six-acre Main Campus houses classrooms for up to 500 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12, as well as a gymnasium, a cafeteria, two libraries, numerous science and computer labs, and the Charles J. Wyly, Jr. Auditorium.

Roger L. Perry Campus

The Roger L. Perry Campus is less than four miles from Lakehill’s Main Campus. Built in 2001, this 17-acre campus is home to the Warrior Athletic Complex and the Alice and Erle Nye Family Environmental Science Center. This premier athletic complex is home to the Warriors Football Stadium, Baseball Field, Softball Field, Tennis Courts, and Field House. Alice and Erle Nye Family Environmental Science Center Warrior Athletic Complex

The state-of-the-art LEED-certified Environmental Science Center houses laboratories, classrooms, and meeting space. With over 40 acres of land to explore, students have the opportunity to experience science and nature in a pristine environment.

REGISTER FOR SUMMER AT LAKEHILL 2025!

Registrations Accepted All Summer Long

The registration deadline for Summer at Lakehill is May 2. Camps that have not received the minimum number of students required for the class by the deadline may be canceled. Notification of any class that has been canceled will be made by May 16. Late registrations may be declined if camps are full, so please be sure to register online by May 2.

Summer at Lakehill Camp Fees

Summer at Lakehill provides an economical alternative to other summer programs while providing top quality enrichment activities led by certified teachers. Week-long camps are available in a half-day or fullday format. Campers may select a morning (AM) or afternoon (PM) camp for a half-day program at $300, or mix and match by selecting one morning and one afternoon camp to constitute a full-day program for $500. Some material-intensive camps will have additional lab or materials fees as well. You may elect to pay half of your camp fee at registration, with the remainder split between automatic payments on June 1 and July 1.

Extended Care

Extended care is included in the cost of camp fees. Students will participate in a variety of activities which could include board games, outdoor games, card games, and crafts. Students should dress for indoor/outdoor play.

Before-care: Available from 8 am - 9 am for students attending a morning or full-day camp.

After-care: Available from 4 pm - 5:30 pm for students attending afternoon or full-day camps.

NOTE: After 5:30 pm a late charge will be assessed and collected at the rate of $1.00 per minute, payable upon arrival. The same rate will apply for morning campers not enrolled in afternoon camp who are not picked up by 1:00 p.m.

Cancellation Policies

We recognize that sometimes summer plans change unexpectedly. However, because the school must purchase materials and incur other expenses in preparation for these camps, any student who withdraws from Summer at Lakehill after the registration deadline may be subject to a 50% cancellation fee (equal to forfeiture of the deposit). Refunds (minus the cancellation fee) will be available within 30 days of the date of cancellation.

In the event of inclement weather or other factors beyond our control, a camp may be canceled on a given day. If camps are canceled more than one day during a Summer at Lakehill week, prorated refunds for the camp days missed will be issued. There will be no prorated registration fees or refunds given when a camper is absent for other reasons.

In the event that a camp must be canceled due to insufficient enrollment, placement in another camp will be offered or, if requested, the complete registration fee will be promptly refunded.

General Information

Dress Code

Throughout the duration of camps at Summer at Lakehill, we ask that parents help their children choose clothing that is modest and appropriate for a school atmosphere. Jeans, shorts, and t-shirts are allowed. Please ensure that your child is wearing recess-appropriate shoes in order to participate in outdoor breaks and activities. Additional dress requirements may be announced on the first day of camp for outdoor camps at the Environmental Science Center.

Code of Conduct

Campers will behave courteously in manner and speech at all times, be respectful of persons in authority and the rights of others, and exercise proper care in the use of materials and equipment. Lakehill reserves the right to dismiss any child whose attitude is not in accordance with the goals and spirit of Summer at Lakehill or whose behavior is considered detrimental to any person or to the school.

Lunch and Snacks

Campers who enroll for both a morning and afternoon camp should bring a sack lunch with a drink each day. They will remain on campus for supervised lunch time and recess at no additional charge. Lunches will not be refrigerated and microwaves may not be available. Campers will eat with campmates under the supervision of camp instructors.

Each camp offers a break time around 10:30 and 2:30. Snacks are not provided, but students who bring a snack can have them during this break time.

Drop off, Pick up, and Transportation

With the exception of Warrior Tennis camp, all drop offs will be at the Main Campus. Drop off for Warrior Tennis camp will be at the Roger L. Perry campus. Pick up for Warrior Tennis will be at the Roger L. Perry campus at noon, and all students who are not picked up by 12:10 will be bussed to the Main Campus for lunch, afternoon camps, or late pickup. Pickup for all other camps will be at the Main Campus playground or the North entrance near the playground. Weekly information will be sent to the email address provided at registration with complete details regarding any updates to drop off or pick up. Please be sure to add summercamps@lakehillprep.org to your address book to stay up-to-date all summer long.

This full‐day camp specifically designed for Middle and Upper School campers engages students in meaningful service while strengthening their community. Each day offers a new opportunity to partner with a different community group. Campers will learn about each organization, and then create and complete a service project targeted specifically to them. Certificates documenting their service hours will be presented to campers at the end of the week.

Get ready to cut, paste, and create in this scrapbooking camp where imagination meets memories! Scrapbooking is perfect for kids who love crafting, storytelling, and designing while creating one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Whether they’re preserving family vacations, celebrating friendships, or creating a scrapbook entirely dedicated to how much they love their dog, every page they make will be a unique work of art! At the end of the camp, kids will take home their very own handmade scrapbook—a treasure trove of creativity and memories. Start collecting your photos, postcards, and any other scrapbook-able mementos now!

Lego Engineering for Young Minds--Cities and Superheroes

Daily hands-on activities will challenge campers’ imaginations and problem-solving skills as they construct bridges and skyscrapers to support a heavy load, build the fastest cars, and solve other engineering challenges. LEGO superheroes will even keep our cities safe from supervillains, monsters, and aliens! Campers will keep their minds and hands busy all camp long.

Warrior Soccer

Lakehill Olympiad

Find your own voice and style to illustrate your favorite children’s literature in this camp for those who love illustrative storytelling. Choose a classic, beloved tale or your own personal favorite, and bring it to life visually using the medium of your choice. At the end of the week, campers will take home their storybook with original illustrations.

Strung Together

Brushstroke Masterpieces

There’s an artist in everyone! Put your own twist on some of the greatest paintings from artists around the world both contemporary and throughout history, such as Van Gogh, Kehinde Wiley, Picasso, Amy Sherald and more. Every day, campers will learn about different artists and create paintings inspired by those masters. Learn tricks and techniques to elevate your painting game, and stretch your imagination!

Dungeons and Dragons for Beginners

Nothing inspires imagination quite like a good fantasy story, with its daring knights, spells and magic, and devious villains. Sadly, all good stories must come to an end...or must they? What if you could keep the adventures going with your friends! Dungeons and Dragons is the original fantasy role-playing game! Players take on the role of a character and work together to solve puzzles, fight monsters, and outsmart villains in a roundtable of collaborative storytelling. Campers will learn the basic rules to create characters and adventures together. Do you have what it takes to be a hero?

Hook, Line, and Sinker

Hook, Line, and Sinker fishing camp gives you the opportunity to learn how to fish, right here in the city! We will visit our own Environmental Science Center and several public fishing areas and catch everything that we can. Campers will learn all the essentials of catchand-release fishing, from tying and baiting the hook, to casting, catching, and reeling in, and releasing the fish back into the wild…after a prize photo, of course! Campers will learn about the different types of fish you can catch in Dallas, which baits to use, and the habits and habitats of local species. This camp is the catch of the summer! Note: There is an additional $15 fee to cover the cost of bait and other fishing necessities.

We Love Dogs

This camp devoted to our favorite four-legged friends will have you wagging your tail in excitement! Learn how kids’ best friends communicate with each other and with their human families, discover the fuzziest, fastest, and most loyal of the various dog breeds, and explore the histories and personalities of your favorite furry friends. Campers will create crafts to celebrate their favorite dogs and will learn about how to be a responsible pet owner. It’s fuzzy fun for all!

Magic: The Gathering for Beginners

No, not pulling rabbits out of hats magic. Elves and dragons and goblins magic! This camp is for the collectible trading card game Magic: The Gathering is all about the basics. Campers will learn the beginner and intermediate rules of the game, develop early, middle, and late-game strategies, and discover what it takes to build a competitive Magic deck. Campers will play with (and keep!) cards from recent Magic: The Gathering sets, such as Foundations and Tarkir Dragonstorm. Note: There is an additional $60 fee to cover the cost of cards and materials that campers keep.

Young artists will dive into a world of color, texture, and imagination as they experiment with different painting techniques and materials. Campers will explore a new theme—from watercolor wonders to bold acrylic masterpieces—while learning about famous artists and developing their own unique style. Through hands-on projects, creative play, and group collaboration, kids will build confidence in their artistic skills and bring home beautiful works of art.

Simply Stitchery

We Love Pokemon

Pokémon fans unite! This camp for young Pokémon Trainers celebrates the rich history of the original video games, animated series, and card game. Campers will learn about the Pokémon generations that have adapted to match their local regions, from the original Kanto to the latest Paldea evolutions, will create a scrapbook of their favorite Pokémon, and will even get to try their hand at some of the classic Pokémon video games. Campers will also learn the basics of the Pokémon Trading Card Game rules, taking home their own My First Battle! decks! Inventors and artists unite! It’s easier than ever to make the creations of your imagination a reality with computer aided design (CAD) and the power of 3D printing. Campers will plan and sketch ideas before crafting them in virtual space. Then, they’ll print their creations as plastic sculptures to take home! Whether you’re a problem solver, a sculptor, or a tinkerer, this camp is the place to put your imagination to work!

Bead and Bling

Unleash your creativity in Bead & Bling camp as you design and create your own stunning jewelry! From trendy bracelets and necklaces to unique earrings and keychains, campers will explore a variety of techniques using beads, wire, charms, and more. Throughout the week, young designers will learn the basics of color theory, pattern making, and jewelry assembly, while experimenting with different materials like glass beads, charms, and metal findings. They’ll build confidence in their artistic skills, develop patience and precision, and walk away with a handmade collection of wearable art!

Krafty Kiddos

Don’t pitch it! Create something cool! Recycle materials such as milk cartons, newspapers, cans, and containers to create new items such as toys, crafts, costumes, accessories, and much more. Keep our earth clean and express your eco-conscious creativity!

Warrior Volleyball

Ready for some over-the-top fun? Campers will learn proper passing form, setting, blocking footwork, serving, and hitting. Offensive and defensive components of the game will be taught using the same drills that Lakehill’s Varsity Volleyball team uses to prepare for the season. We’ll see you on the court!

Wild Dallas

If you think that you have to go far from the city to find wildlife, you’re in for a surprise! Foxes, coyotes, raccoons, wild pigs, and even bobcats can be found right here in Dallas, if you know where to look. In the Wild Dallas camp, you’ll learn about the wild animals and plants that you can find in your neighborhood while learning about the signs they leave behind for you to find. What comes out to play in your back yard while you’re sleeping?

Catch 'em All--Pokemon TCG for Beginners

Pokémon cards are fun to collect, but to be a true Pokémon Trainer, you have to play the game! This camp covers all the fundamental rules of the Pokémon trading card game (TCG), including energy types and their strengths and weaknesses, deck construction, turn order, and how to win! Best of all, campers get to keep all the cards they open and play with during the camp, including recent releases such as Scarlet & Violet Journey Together! Note: There is an additional $60 fee to cover the cost of cards and materials that campers keep.

Tinker Tech Makerspace

Tinker Tech Makerspace is perfect for makers and innovators who love to work with their hands! Choose from a variety of hands-on projects and experiments such as die-cut designs with a Cricut cutting machine, marble track competitions, shrinking cup mandalas, and origami shapes and structures. First graders at Lakehill take their first steps into a larger world of personal responsibility, academic readiness, and social awareness. It’s a wonderful year full of growth and exploration, and this camp for Lakehill First Graders will ensure that your child keeps his or her skills sharp during the summer months. Campers will practice the routines and habits that help the first grade year start off strong, from math and reading skills to science and writing, as well as the social and emotional learning and character trait skills to help them learn in groups effectively. This fun first grade camp can’t be missed! Note: This camp is intended only for those who will attend Lakehill as first graders next year.

Percy Jackson famously said, “Look, I didn’t want to be a Half-Blood.” If you’re reading this and you feel like you might be the child of a Greek god or goddess too, you should join us at Camp Half-Blood! Here at CHB, we hone our skills to take on mythical monsters and learn what it takes to be a demigod. Mortals who love Greek mythology, monsters, heroes, and villains are invited, too!

Code.org--Minecraft Edition

Using Code.org’s programming framework, campers will learn the fundamentals of coding to bring their creativity to life in this Minecraft-themed camp! Campers will explore block-based programming, problem-solving, and game design while building their own interactive Minecraft worlds. Dungeons and Dragons for Wizened Warriors

Are you a veteran of many battles? Do bards sing songs in praise of your past adventures? Do dragons tremble in fear when they hear your name? Then this camp for experienced players of Dungeons and Dragons is for you! We will explore advanced play by rolling highlevel characters who are fit to battle the toughest foes and explore the most challenging dungeons. Then, we’ll spend the week performing heroic feats that are worthy of legend. Do you have what it takes to become a legend?

Modern Storytellers

In this camp for budding writers and storytellers, campers will create memorable characters and settings through creative writing activities. From brainstorming to writing to editing and revising, campers will complete their own stories throughout the week. Bound copies of the stories will be made after the camp and mailed to families.

Multi-Medium Masterpieces

Who says you can’t mix it up when it comes to art? It’s time to break all the rules! Campers will blend many art and design methods and materials, including pattern, negative space, and color schemes to craft unique pieces that blur the lines of traditional art. Sew on a canvas! Paint on an object! Are there Lego’s in that sculpture? No two pieces will look the same when campers mix it up!

We Love Cheer

Cheerleading is so much more than uniforms and pom poms! Join us to learn cheers, chants, movements and dances, and other elements of team motivation needed for becoming a super spirit leader. From routines to skits to crafts, cheerleading has something for everyone. Go team!

A Dog's Life

This camp is perfect for dog lovers, whether they have a dog or hope to have one in the future. Campers will learn about different breeds with different needs, how to properly care for our four-legged friends, and how to behave safely around unfamiliar canines. Campers will make doggie treats and doggie toys for their canine friends. Special visits from four-legged and two-legged guests will add to the excitement. It’s doggone fun!

Character Cooking

Entering Grades: 4-8

In this unique and engaging cooking camp, kids get to recreate the favorite dishes of beloved cartoon and video game characters. Prepare chili dogs that Sonic the Hedgehog would flip for! Bake Scooby Snacks to motivate your favorite cartoon mystery-solver! Make banana splits worthy of Donkey Kong! Blending hands-on cooking with fun, interactive activities that bring these iconic characters to life, this camp takes your child’s love of their favorite characters to a whole new level!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Discover the joys of container gardening in this hands-on camp where kids will learn to grow plants in small spaces. We’ll explore how to nurture healthy plants, harvest seeds, and repot our leafy charges as they grow. Campers will gain practical gardening skills while fostering a deeper connection to nature! It’s high-spirited horticultural fun!

Lego Engineering for Young Minds--Castles and Magical Realms

Entering Grades: K-4

Explore the fundamentals of physics and engineering with the world’s most popular building blocks! Daily hands-on activities will challenge campers’ imaginations and problem-solving skills as they construct castles to withstand catapult blasts, build the most enchanted houses and cottages, and design mythical creatures of their very own. Campers will keep their minds and hands busy all camp long!

Warrior Tennis

Entering Grades: 3-8

Begin a life-long love of the racket in this camp for beginning tennis players. Campers will develop handeye coordination by playing games that showcase the fundamentals of tennis, including serving, forehand and backhand strokes, and volley-play. Each camper should bring a racket and one can of tennis balls.

DC vs. Marvel--Comics Collide!

Comic book fans love to take sides as they discuss their favorite superheroes. Who would win in an epic battle, Batman or Captain America? Who is the better archer, Green Arrow or Hawkeye? Who has the cooler home base, the Avengers or the Teen Titans? There’s only one way to find out! Join us as we take a look at some of the most iconic superheroes on Earth (and every other galaxy) and decide, once and for all, which is better— DC or Marvel. Through a thorough exploration of superheroes through the ages, campers will celebrate their most beloved characters and discover some new favorites. Up, up, and away!

Make It Take It Keepsakes

The Chicken and the Egg

In this egg-citing summer camp, students will discover how to care for backyard chickens and experience the magic of hatching chicks from eggs in an incubator. They’ll learn the essentials of feeding, housing, and handling chickens while observing the incubation process up close. Warrior Cheerleading

Warrior Cheerleading helps campers of all skill levels develop technical and performance skills to build stamina, coordination, flexibility, and strength. Campers will practice age-appropriate, basic tumbling skills, stunts, and jumps as they master cheers and a dance. With coaching from some of Lakehill’s Varsity Cheerleaders, campers will grow their self-esteem, teamwork, personal accountability, and overall wellness. Go Warriors!

We Love Disney

Are you dizzy for Disney? Come celebrate the magic of Disney with your friends in this camp for Disney’s biggest fans! Architecture A-CAD-emy

Campers who are ready to design the buildings of the future will explore the fundamentals of architecture, 3D modeling, and interior design while bringing their ideas to life. Using SketchUp software to design, build, and furnish their own virtual structures, campers will see their ideas take form in three dimensions! Perfect for aspiring designers, this hands-on experience makes learning virtual architecture fun and engaging!

Dessert Bake-Off

Do you have what it takes to duplicate the yummy treats you can find in local shops and bakeries? Mix and bake copycat versions of some best loved restaurant desserts and then compare your creation to the “real deal.” Can you match the taste of Subway’s chocolate chip cookies, Pepperidge Farm’s Pirouette cookies, or chocolate cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes? Or, can you beat the experts? Your taste buds will be happy to be the judge.

Delve into the world of myths and legends! Discover how the world got its very first flying unicorn and why it’s always a good idea to thank the crows for teaching you how to dance. Time Travelers

Each day, campers will travel to a different point in time to ignite their imaginations and learn about the past. When I Grow Up

This exciting summer camp is all about exploring fun careers and learning essential life skills! Campers will have the chance to discover what it’s like to be a police officer, firefighter, pilot, astronaut and other incredible careers through hands-on activities and guest speakers. Along with career exploration, campers will learn basic life skills like budgeting, grocery shopping, basic cooking skills, folding clothes, and time management, giving them valuable tools for the future. Through fun, interactive lessons, kids will gain confidence in their ability to tackle life’s challenges while discovering what careers excite them the most!

Cheat Code--Retro Video Gaming

Video game consoles have entertained kids and families for more than half a century, and the classics are as fun and memorable today as ever! Take a deep dive into the first games featuring Mario, Donkey Kong, Sonic, and other pals as you learn about the evolution of video game technology over the year. Every day will feature new hands-on fun with a variety of gaming consoles, from classics up to their modern descendants. Take your gaming to the next level!

Spectacular Superheroes

Up, up, and away...to Lakehill’s Spectacular Super Heroes Camp! Every day is a new adventure as we get decked out in Super Hero duds, recite a Super Hero pledge, and defeat a Super Villain. We’ll even make web shooters and kryptonite and create our own Super Hero catch phrases. With arts and crafts, games, dramatic play, and lively discussions, this is a week not to be missed! Do you have what it takes to be a super hero?

Summerween

Waffle Iron Cooking

Candy Land

Calling all candy lovers. Bring your sweet tooth and be ready to have some fun! Campers will engage their senses as they explore new tastes and textures while building candy structures, fashioning candy necklaces, and creating candy art. Candy races and candy games add to the ooey-gooey, messy fun! Who says you can’t play with your food?

Community Connections Jr.

This camp engages campers in meaningful service while strengthening their community. Each day offers a new opportunity to learn how to support a local organization or cause with helpful activities that you can do from school or home. Campers will learn about Dallas-area organizations, and then create and complete a service project targeted specifically to them.

Design, Build, Destroy!

In this hands-on engineering camp, you’ll discover ways to build the most stable structures, then test your creation’s ability to withstand catastrophic force. Try your hand at design and architecture as you create your own awe-inspiring structures. Plan and build model bridges, skyscrapers, and more. Will your designs have what it takes to stay standing, or will they cave under the pressure?

Magic: The Gathering for Veterans

Entering Grades: 4-8

This camp is for the collectible trading card game Magic: The Gathering is for experienced players who know the basics and are ready to take their skills to the next level. Campers will draft recent sets such as Tarkir Dragonstorm and Final Fantasy, and will learn about other tournament formats as they build their collections and develop their skills. Note: There is an additional $60 fee to cover the cost of cards and materials that campers keep.”

Duct Tape Madness

Who doesn’t love duct tape? Spend the week crafting useful and decorative objects out of duct tape, from pencil pouches, water bottle carriers, and wallets to belts, bracelets, bookmarks, and more! Be an original with duct tape fashions for home or school, for the beach, or for the big game. Get wrapped up in the fun!

Warrior Youth Basketball

Entering Grades: 1-4

Take your basketball skills to the next level while working with the Lakehill Basketball Coaching Staff. Campers will learn proper mechanics and fundamentals of basketball, including rules, ball handling, effective and efficient passing, and teamwork. We will also explore actual Warrior offensive and defensive plays as well as the same drills that the Varsity teams use to prepare for games during their season. Go Warriors!

Meet the Teachers

Yessenia Aranda has been teaching Spanish at Lakehill since October 2023. This fall will mark her eleventh year in education. With a certification in early childhood bilingual education, she has substantial experience working with K-2 students. She now teaches Spanish to Lower and Middle School students, including Spanish I for Upper School credit. Yessenia holds a degree in Broadcast Communications from UT Arlington. Outside the classroom, she enjoys traveling, camping, ATVing, baseball, and thrifting.

Tam Badgett is the Head Coach of the Lakehill Varsity Cheerleaders and has been deeply connected to cheerleading since childhood. After more than a decade of cheering competitively and on school squads, she transitioned into coaching elementary-age teams at the YMCA and, for several years, co-coached the LPS Middle School squad. Whether leading large groups or conducting one-on-one skill development sessions, Tam thrives on helping others grow as athletes. She holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and French, a Master’s in English, and an MFA in Creative Writing. A poet and nonfiction writer, she believes in the transformative power of storytelling and the beauty of ‘le mot juste.’ Ms. Badgett enjoys reading, traveling, immersing herself in nature, and engaging with the arts.

Lindsay Baronoskie is Lakehill’s Lower School computer teacher and librarian, and she also teaches 8th grade Integrated Projects. She graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology. Prior to Lakehill, she taught in Richardson ISD for 11 years where she was also in charge of her school’s Outdoor Learning Center garden and chickens. She loves photography, reading and anything to do with life sciences.

Nicole Canales teaches Chemistry and Biology in Upper School with a bachelors and masters from the University of Texas at Dallas and 13 yrs of teaching experiencel. She has had a love of crochet, cross stitch and needlepoint since learning as a child, and has LOVED sharing crochet with the Lower School kiddos!

Jhoana Cayme-Mosley is the Athletic Director and also teaches Physical Education at Lakehill. She is the Head Coach for the Varsity Volleyball and Varsity Track teams. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A&M International University. Coach Cayme-Mosley enjoys traveling, running, and sand volleyball in her spare time.

Laura Gigliotti joined the Lakehill Prep faculty in the fall of 2016 after moving to Dallas from her home state of Colorado. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, an M.B.A., and a Masters degree in Teaching. Laura has taught kindergarten and second grade and currently teaches first grade. Laura is certified in Crisis Prevention and First Aid/CPR. She was a cheerleader in high school and college and is an alumna of Phi Sigma Sigma sorority.

Meet the Teachers

Kaye Hauschild loves summer camp and enjoys sharing baking, snacking, and playing with students and dogs. She also likes drawing and creating things as well doing nice things for others in the community. Summer camp rocks!

Zélie Jeanvoine teaches Upper School Spanish and Middle and Upper School French. Mrs. Jeanvoine is a native of Lorraine, just East of France. She attended the Université Paris Nanterre La Défense where she earned her licence d’Espagnol option Anglais. Outside of Lakehill, Mrs. Jeanvoine loves to travel, discover new cultures and ways of life, and of course, she loves practicing different languages.

Laura Johnson teaches 5th and 6th grade math as well as the Makerspace elective offered to 7th and 8th graders. In recent years she was also a part of the Lower School support team where she assisted students in small groups and individually. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Education, minoring in Special Education from the University of the Pacific in California. She was honored in 2024 by the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerece as the Private School Teacher of the Year.

Rachellee Jones teaches first grade at Lakehill. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. Hook ‘em Horns! She loves teaching science. She also has seven years of experience teaching about cultures and art. She loves seeing students get excited about learning!

Coach Kufel is the math department chair for K-7th grade and has taught MS mathematics for the past 10 years at Lakehill. She graduated with a degree in Elementary Education K-8 with endorsements in math from the University of Oklahoma. Coach K believes in encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of math no matter what a student’s ability level may be.

Joan Mayo is Lakehill’s Chair of World Languages. A veteran teacher of more than 35 years, she teaches Upper School Spanish and works with Lower School students in Lakehill’s Aftercare Program. Mayo holds her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts Degrees in Spanish Language and Literature from Texas A&M University. Before coming to Lakehill, she lived in Zamora, Spain, where she taught English to Spanish nationals and assisted doctors at the local hospital with medical translations.

Mia Musselman teaches Physics and Robotics at Lakehill Prep. She coaches the Lakehill Robotics team and runs Lakehill’s Upper School Magic: The Gathering Club. In her spare time, she loves to hit the volleyball court and she has also coached lacrosse for five years. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois.

Bradley Neyland is the Head Coach of Lakehill’s Varsity Boys Basketball team, Bi-District Champions. He has coached basketball at the Upper School level for more than 10 years and has a degree in Sports Management and Business from Louisiana State University. He also teaches Middle School social studies at Lakehill, enjoys watching and coaching basketball, enjoying the outdoors, and cheering for LSU.

Meet the Teachers

Amanda Rasbury most recently received a Master’s Degree from the University of Texas at Dallas. She has recently completed her ninth year of teaching English and Latin at Lakehill. In her free time, she enjoys reading, adding books to her “to be read” list, and figuring out the best way to help her friends defeat zombies, dragons, and evil warlocks.

Addison Shierry received her PhD in Literature from the University of Texas at Dallas in May 2023. She taught Literature, Rhetoric, and Creative Writing at the college level for 10 years and has just finished her second year at Lakehill. In pursuit of her graduate degrees, Addison discovered a deep love for engaging young people through literature, as the medium allows every reader to experience new perspectives, set out on unfamiliar adventures, and develop a lasting sense of empathy. In addition to reading and writing, Addison enjoys spending time with others and nature, going on long walks with her dog, watching movies, cooking, and trying all things new.

Collin Tremain has coached baseball, football, basketball, track, and soccer. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Stephen F. Austin State University. Coach Tremain has also recently earned a Masters’s Degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce. He loves video gaming as much as any Lakehill kid!

John Trout taught fourth grade at Lakehill for 14 years before becoming Head of Lower School, and now he’s back in the classroom full time again! He enjoys learning and teaching a bit of everything, from math to science to literature. He is a former educator for the Memphis Zoo and sponsors clubs for Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons at Lakehill. He is a Hufflepuff.

Sacha Troxler is an artist, educator, and facilitator of creative expression. She has been teaching art at Lakehill for the last eleven years as well as making her own art. She studied Architecture at A&M and went on to earn her MFA from SUNY Purchase. Sacha strongly believes every person is an artist and extracts great joy in helping others bring that artist to the surface. Sacha loves camping, nature, travel, and taking care of Mother Earth.

Anna Tucker is an artist and art educator. She teaches Lower School Art and Middle School Art and Art Electives at Lakehill Preparatory School. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from The University of Texas at Austin with a focus in printmaking and color theory. When her hands aren’t covered in paint, Ms. Tucker enjoys traveling to new places, cooking with her family, and being completely obsessed with her brindle boxer, Phoebe.

Dan Woodward is the Learning Specialist, Boys Varsity Soccer Coach, and Middle School Tennis Coach at Lakehill. He just wrapped up his second year at Lakehill. Mr. Woodward earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Kansas and an Educational Specialist Degree (EdS) in School Psychology from Baylor University. Outside of his professional pursuits, Mr. Woodward enjoys family time with his wife Katie, their son, and their dog, Happy. Dan enjoys playing soccer, running, Peloton rides, and trying new restaurants.
