We are extremely excited to welcome back Summer at Lakehill! Our summer programs will be held from June 5 to July 28, 2023. We hope you find the information in this catalog helpful as you plan your student’s summer activities.

Our camps include limitless opportunities in academics, arts, STEM, sports, summer games and fun, and offer you the opportunity to select from a wide variety of options.

Summer is a time to be creative, explore new worlds, sharpen skills, and have fun, all while being surrounded by a vibrant community! Summer at Lakehill was specifically designed to promote excellence in education, athletics, and recreation while encouraging students to have fun in a creative and supportive learning environment.

Our faculty is at the heart of the summer experience at Lakehill. Their passions, talents, and skills, combined with outstanding energy and enthusiasm, results in the creation of an unforgettable summer for our students.

Welcome to Summer at Lakehill 2023!

Summer at Lakehill offers programs for students entering kindergarten to the eighth grade, with weekly sessions beginning June 5 and ending July 28 (excluding the week of July 4).

From arts, STEM, and sports to academics, performing and visual arts, and gaming, you’ll find camps that will turn summer into a learning adventure for your student. We’re glad to be back this summer, and we know your student will have a blast at our camps.

Summer at Lakehill is unique in offering quality, teacher-led camps at an affordable price, which includes before-camp (8 am - 9 am) and after-camp (4 pm - 5:30 pm) care every day without an additional fee.

CAMP LOCATIONS

Main Campus

Located in the heart of Lakewood, the six-acre Main Campus houses classrooms for up to 500 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12, as well as a gymnasium, a cafeteria, two libraries, numerous science and computer labs, and the Charles J. Wyly, Jr. Auditorium.

Roger L. Perry Campus

The Roger L. Perry Campus is less than four miles from Lakehill’s Main Campus. Built in 2001, this 17-acre campus is home to the Warrior Athletic Complex and the Alice and Erle Nye Family Environmental Science Center.

The state-of-the-art LEED-certified Environmental Science Center houses laboratories, classrooms, and meeting space. With over 40 acres of land to explore, students have the opportunity to experience science and nature in a pristine environment.

This premier athletic complex is home to the Warriors’ Football Stadium, Baseball Field, Softball Field, Tennis Courts, and Field House.

REGISTRATION & FEES

Registration Accepted All Summer Long

The registration deadline for Summer at Lakehill is May 12. Camps that have not received the minimum number of students required for the class by the deadline may be canceled. Notification of any class that has been canceled will be made by May 22. Late registrations may be declined if camps are full, so please be sure to register online by May 12.

Summer at Lakehill Camp Fees

Summer at Lakehill provides an economical alternative to other summer programs while providing top quality enrichment activities led by certified teachers. Week-long camps are available in a half-day or full-day format. Campers may select a morning (AM) or afternoon (PM) camp for a half-day program at $300, or mix and match by selecting one morning and one afternoon camp to constitute a full-day program for $500. Some material-intensive camps will have additional lab or materials fees as well. You may elect to pay half of your camp fee at registration, with the remainder split between automatic payments on June 1 and July 1.

Extended Care

Extended care is included in the cost of camp fees. Students will participate in a variety of activities which could include board games, outdoor games, card games, and crafts. Students should dress for indoor/outdoor play.

Before-care: Available from 8 am - 9 am for students attending a morning or full-day camp. After-care: Available from 4 pm - 5:30 pm for students attending afternoon or full-day camps.

NOTE: After 5:30 pm a late charge will be assessed and collected at the rate of $1.00 per minute, payable upon arrival. The same rate will apply for morning campers not enrolled in afternoon camp who are not picked up by 1:00 p.m.

Cancellation Policies

We recognize that sometimes summer plans change unexpectedly. However, because the school must purchase materials and incur other expenses in preparation for these camps, any student who withdraws from Summer at Lakehill after the registration deadline may be subject to a 50% cancellation fee (equal to forfeiture of the deposit). Refunds (minus the cancellation fee) will be available within 30 days of the date of cancellation.

In the event of inclement weather or other factors beyond our control, a camp may be canceled on a given day. If camps are canceled more than one day during a Summer at Lakehill week, prorated refunds for the camp days missed will be issued. There will be no prorated registration fees or refunds given when a camper is absent for other reasons.

In the event that a camp must be canceled due to insufficient enrollment, placement in another camp will be offered or, if requested, the complete registration fee will be promptly refunded.

General Information

Dress Code

Throughout the duration of camps at Summer at Lakehill, we ask that parents help their children choose clothing that is modest and appropriate for a school atmosphere. Jeans, shorts, and t-shirts are allowed. Please ensure that your child is wearing recess-appropriate shoes in order to participate in outdoor breaks and activities. Additional dress requirements may be announced on the first day of camp for outdoor camps at the Environmental Science Center.

Code of Conduct

Campers will behave courteously in manner and speech at all times, be respectful of persons in authority and the rights of others, and exercise proper care in the use of materials and equipment. Lakehill reserves the right to dismiss any child whose attitude is not in accordance with the goals and spirit of Summer at Lakehill or whose behavior is considered detrimental to any person or to the school.

Lunch

Campers who enroll for both a morning and afternoon camp should bring a sack lunch with a drink each day. They will remain on campus for supervised lunch time and recess at no additional charge. Lunches will not be refrigerated and microwaves may not be available. Campers will eat with campmates under the supervision of camp instructors.

Transportation

Bus transportation will be provided between the two campuses for campers who are attending morning and afternoon sessions on different campuses. Weekly information will be sent to the email address provided at registration with complete details. Please be sure to add summercamps@lakehillprep.org to your address book to stay up-to-date all summer long.

AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS

Say bon voyage as we dash around the globe! Discover two different countries each day, exploring the lifestyles, clothing, games, and actitvies of each of our destinations. Celebrate each country’s culture through art projects, crafts, stories, and especially the fun activities that kids in each country enjoy. Grab your passport and get ready for a travel adventure!

TIME TRAVELLERS

Each day, campers will travel to a different point in time to ignite their imaginations and learn about the past. Take a trip across the centuries to experience the crafts, games, food, and culture enjoyed by children of different eras. You might even travel forward in time to see what the future holds! There’s no time like the present to sign up for this camp!

Academic readiness

BUILDING NUMBER SENSE

Do multipilcation, division, and fractions have your brain tied up in knots? This is the camp that will help you untangle the mess to make sense of these and other related concepts. Through games, puzzles, creative activities, and teamwork, campers will grow itheir confidence and fluency as they master these skills that are so essential for the middle school transition into algebraic thinking.

MATH MASTERMINDS

Discover the fun of math through a discovery-guided environment. Making your own connections and patterns is essential to foundational learning. Campers will play targeted games and activities that will allow for number talks, logic and reasoning, and a further understanding of base ten concepts that will strengthen operational thinking and create a stronger confidence in the classroom. Come join us for building, bundling, sorting, and collaboration. Multiple levels/strategies will be set up for students of different ages and abilities, so come learn how fun math can be!

CAMP KINDERGARTEN

Kindergarten is your child’s first step into the exciting opportunities in learning and development that Lakehill offers. This popular camp for children entering kindergarten will focus on readiness skills in a fun and relaxed environment. Please note: This camp is available to incoming Lakehill kindergarten campers only.

LEVEL UP YOUR GAMEWINNING WRITING STRATEGIES

In this gamified camp for young writers, campers will turn simple, uninspired writing into compelling prose that they will want to share...and that readers will want to read! Campers will write about the sports, games, and other topics they care about most to earn achievment badges for important features of quality writing. From taking a stand with an interesting thesis to adding details that readers will care about, campers will brainstorm, organize their thoughts, create and revise drafts with nuanced and developed thoughts, and finally share their final, knock-it-out-of-the-ballpark essays. Join us to unlock your greatest writing potential!

FUN WITH PHONICS

This camp is for students looking to accelerate their foundational reading skills. We will cover phonological awareness components (both phonemic awareness and phonics) including rhyme recognition, phonemic isolation, blending syllables, segmenting, and adding/deleting/ substituting phonemes. We will also work with phonics skills such as CVC, CVCe, vowel teams, r-controlled vowels, basic and intermediate word families, and more. Learn through visual, auditory, and hands-on fun and games!

Animal Fanatic

A DOG’S LIFE

This camp is perfect for dog lovers, whether they have a dog or hope to have one in the future. Campers will learn about different breeds with different needs, how to properly care for a four-legged friend, and how to behave safely around unfamiliar canines. Campers will make doggie treats and doggie toys for their canine friends. Special visits from fourlegged and two-legged guests will add to the excitement. It’s doggone fun!

WE LOVE DOGS!

This camp devoted to our favorite four-legged friends will have you wagging your tail in excitement! Learn how kids’ best friends communicate with each other and with their human families, disocver the fuzziest, fastests, and most loyal of the various dog breeds, and explore the histories and personalities of your favorite furry friends. Campers will create crafts to celebrate their favorite dogs and will learn about how to be a responsible pet owner. It’s fuzzy fun for all!

Artists’ Corner

WACKY PLASTER SCULPTURES

Come create a dragon, unicorn, or other fantastical creature using recycled materials, plaster and your imagination! We will do a deep dive into using paper, tape, foil, wire, recycled materials and plaster to create items from our imagination, or maybe even just a replica of your favorite pet! Be prepared to get messy! Save your recycled water bottles or paper towel holders to bring with you the first day of camp! Campers will walk away with 2-3 sculptural creations.

ARTVENTURE

Creativity abounds in this art camp for beginning artists inspired by the best selling book, Art Play. Campers will gain experience with many different types of art materials as they draw, paint, and scribble their way through a variety of art projects. Campers will learn basic art elements they will develop their artistic voices while creating maze patterns, inventing their own language made of shapes, and even blow paint onto surfaces for dramatic effect. It’s not an adventure, it’s an artventure.

TRASH TO TREASURE

Don’t pitch it! Create something cool! Recycle materials such as milk cartons, newspapers, cans, and containers to create new items such as toys, crafts, costumes, accessories, and much more. Pull toys for pets, planters and vases for flowers, room decorations, and other trash-to-treasure crafts are a great way to create something new and recycle at the same time. Keep our earth clean and express your ecoconscious creativity!

MAD SCIENCE STORYTELLERS

Science and storytelling collide in this camp that explores the scientific facts and feats behind our favorite fairy tales and stories. Design a castle to stand up to the fiercest dragons. Read about slimey creatures before making your own goopy globs. In this hands-on camp for budding storytellers and young scientists, the sky’s the limit!

YOUNG AVIATORS

Take flight in this camp for kids who want to know more about the science of flying things. Campers will explore the importance of stability and aerodynamics as they learn about lift, thrust, and drag while experimenting with a variety fo flying models built with their own hands. The sky’s the limit!

STRANGE AND SPOOKY OCEAN CREATURES

Beneath the waves lurk some of the world’s most bizarre and fascinating animals! From sharks and squids to angel fish and angler fish, the oceans abound with colorful creatures of all shapes and sizes. Discover how claws and teeth, spines and stingers, and camouflage and mimicry help the denizens of the deep protect themselves, find food, and survive. Which strange and spooky ocean animal is your favorite?

3D MAKERSPACE

Inventors and artistss unite! It’s easier than ever to make the creations of your imagination a reality with computer aided design (CAD) and the power of 3D printing. Campers will plan and sketch ideas before crafting them in virtual space. Then, they’ll print their creations as plastic sculptures to take home! Whether you’re a problem solver, a sculptor, or a tinkerer, this camp is the place to put your imagination to work!

DESIGN, BUILD, DESTROY

In this hands-on engineering camp, you’ll discover ways to build the most stable structures, then test your creation’s ability to withstand catastrophic force. Try your hand at design and architecture as you create your own awe-inspiring structures. Plan and build model bridges, skyscrapers, and more. Will your designs have what it takes to stay standing, or will they cave under the pressure?

Explore the fundamentals of physics and engineering with the world’s most popular building blocks! Daily hands-on activities will challenge campers’ imaginations and problemsolving skills as they construct bridges and skyscrapers to support a heavy load, build the fastest cars, and solve other engineering challenges. Campers will keep their minds and hands busy all camp long!

CHILL OUT WITH STEM

Chill out this summer with this camp devoted to all things frozen and fun. Create frozen snow crystals and melting snowmen. Learn how arctic animals stay warm and how penguins stay dry. Discover the amazing things that happen when the temperature drops. You won’t find a cooler camp anywhere else. Don’t be left out in the cold!

FEATS OF PHYSICS

Physics is the science of flinging, launching, floating, and blasting! Each day, campers will explore new natural forces and how physicists harness or batle those forces. Campers will exlore stability and equilibrium, potential and kinetic energy, bouyancy, and other feats of physics to expand their understanding of how the world works.

LEGO’s EV3 robotics kits are the perfect tool for developing the problem-solvers and engineers of the future! Each day, teams will design, build, and program a robot to perform a new task and solve a new problem, puting their engineering know how to the test! Are you up to the challenge?

BUILD IT BIG!

There is nothing quite like the thrill of designing and building with your own two hands! Gain confidence in your skills at planning, making, repairing, and revising a project. Learn to work as part of a team to construct large‐scale projects as a group, and complete smaller projects on your own. Explore engineering marvels to build them bigger and better than ever before. Each day begins with an engineering problem that campers will solve given certain parameters and materials. Use your imagination and engineering know‐how to design, build, and test your own feats of engineering. Are you up to the challenge?

Fantastic Games

POKEMON - CATCH ‘EM ALL

Pokémon cards are fun to collect, but to be a true Pokémon Trainer, you have to play the game! This camp for Pokémon afficionados covers all the fundamental rules of the game, including energy types and their strengths and weaknesses, deck constuction, turn order, and how to win! And, of course we’ll take time to appreciate the more than 25 years of Pokémon fun with facts, trivia, and other activities. Best of all, campers get to keep all the cards they open and play with during the camp!

Note: There is an additional $45 fee to cover the cost of cards and materials that campers keep.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING FOR BEGINNERS

No, not pulling rabbits out of hats magic. Elves and dragons and goblins magic! This camp is for the collectible trading card game Magic: The Gathering is all about the basics. Campers will learn the beginner and intermediate rules of the game, develop early, middle, and late-game strategies, and discover what it takes to build a competitive Magic deck. Campers will play with (and keep!) cards from recent Magic: The Gathering sets. Note: There is an additional $35 fee to cover the cost of cards and materials that campers keep. DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS FOR BEGINNERS

Nothing inspires imagination quite like a good fantasy story, with its daring knights, spells and magic, and devious villains. Sadly, all good stories must come to an end...or must they? What if you could keep the adventures going with your friends! Dungeons and Dragons is the original fantasy roleplaying game! Players take on the role of a character and work together to solve puzzles, fight monsters, and outsmart villains in a roundtable of collaborative storytelling. Campers will learn the basic rules to create characters and adventures together. Do you have what it takes to be a hero? Note: There is an additional $15 fee to cover the cost of dice, figures, and materials that campers keep.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING - VETERANS

This camp is for the collectible trading card game Magic: The Gathering is for experienced players who know the basics and are ready to take their skills to the next level. Students will focus on Draft and Sealed Deck Tournaments, and will learn about other tournament formats as they build their collections and develop their skills. Please note: An additional $30 fee is required to cover the cost of cards, which students keep and add to their collections.

Get tangled up in fun with this camp devoted to the crafts and creations you can make with string, yarn, ribbon, and even paper strips! Create artwork, decoratrions, and crafts to display or share. From the practical to the fantastical, your projects will make great keepsakes to give to friends or to cherish forever!

IT’S SUMMER!

It’s hot outside – so it must be time for some summertime fun! This camp celebrates all things summer, whether out in the summer sun or in the cool shade! Make slime, go on a scavenger hunt, play kick-ball, and enjoy the outdoors. Play classic camp games, build with LEGOs, and wind down with a cool glass of lemonade. It’s summer!

Let the fiesta begin! Experience Hispanic culture through its cuisine. PLAYING AROUND WITH DRAMA

We have the cure for stage fright! Acting is a great way to try out different personalities, create laughter, and build confidence. Campers will play acting games, improvise scenes, and raid their closets for props and costumes to perfom skits and scenes with their freinds. Whether you are bold or shy, experienced or a novice, you’ll find your voice and shine in the spotlight.

MUSICAL MADNESS!

If you like to sing and perform, this week is for you! Learn how to improv with others, practice choral warm-ups, and more. Participants will learn musical pieces, and choose whether they want to sing solo, in duets, or in chorus. Pair this with some “showy” moves and light props, and you’ve got a show! Parents are invited to join us at the end of the week for a delightful performance!

Advance your soccer skills to the next level using the same drills as the Lakehill Varsity and Middle School teams! Campers will cover a broad range of offensive and defensive skills needed to improve their individual techniques and tactics. Emphasis will be put on ball movement, control, passing and receiving while learning about soccer specific fitness and training habits.

INTRODUCTION TO MARTIAL ARTS

Welcome to the dojang! Join us to celebrate the martial traditions of Asia and beyond in this low-impact martial arts appreciation camp. Through a mix of elements from taekwondo and judo, campers will train to grow stronger physically and mentally celebrating the positive principles of self-discipline, self-control, mindfulness, and physical fitness. Each day, campers will learn more about the culture of a different corner of the world, exploring the similarities and differences between the martial arts traditions that have grown over the centuries. This camp is going to be a kick, for sure!

WARRIOR FOOTBALL

This fundamentals-based, non-contact football camp focuses on skills development. Campers will learn proper mechanics for throwing, running, and catching a football. Campers will also learn proper offensive and defensive stances, footwork, and agility. Each daily session will conclude with an intrasquad game utilizing skills learned in that day’s session.

CHEER

Cheerleading is so much more than uniforms and pom poms! Join us to learn cheers, chants, movements and dances, and other elements of team motivation needed for becoming a super spirit leader. From routines to skits to crafts, cheerleading has something for everyone. We will even host our own pep rally to perform for friends and family at the end of the week. Go team!

Don’t be a couch potato! Get active this summer with a variety of sports, including kickball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, basketball, relay races, flag football, and many more! This active and healthy camp will keep you energized all week long. Campers will also enjoy a water day, filled with water balloons, Slip ’n’ Slide, and wet, wild fun. You don’t want to miss this high-energy camp!

STUNTS AND TUMBLES

Learn the basics of tumbling and stunting in a safe and fun environment. We will cover basic positions in stunting such as thigh stands/hitches, half extensions, barrel rolls, teddy sits, and more. We will cover proper formation on tumbling such as cartwheels, round-offs, back bends, back walkovers, and splits. A performance routine will show off their skills at the end of week as they pull it all together with music! Shorts, fitted tops, ponytails, water bottles, and tennis shoes required. No jewelry will be permitted.

J.R.R. Tolkien created a vast fantasy realm with amazing depth and a rich history that has fascinated readers for decades. Students will learn the rich history and back‐story of Tolkien’s fantasy world with readings from The Silmarillion, The History of Middle Earth, and other texts that will add to a deeper understanding of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

ROBIN ABELS

Robin Abels has been a registered Pediatric Occupational Therapist for more than 32 years and holds an M. Ed. Degree from the University of North Texas. When she is not busy helping children reach their full potential, she enjoys biking, swimming, and reading.

MYLANA BURT

Mylana Burt teaches kindergarten at Lakehill Preparatory School and has 28 years of classroom experience. She has a Bachelor of Science from Tarleton State University. Mylana was honored in 2010 by the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce as the Private School Elementary Teacher of the Year.

THOMAS CANTU

Thomas Cantu teaches Lower and Middle School Spanish and coaches Lakehill’s varsity soccer team. Mr. Cantu attended The University of Alabama where he earned a B.A. in Spanish with a minor in Mathematics. Mr. Cantu loves riding his bike all around the metroplex and coaching U4 soccer in the Oak Cliff neighborhood.

JHOANA CAYME-MOSLEY

Jhoana Cayme-Mosley is the Athletic Director and also teaches Physical Education at Lakehill. She is the Head Coach for the Varsity Volleyball and Varsity Track teams. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A&M International University. Coach Cayme-Mosley enjoys traveling, running, and sand volleyball in her spare time.

KINZIE GARCIA

Kinzie Garcia joined the Lakehill staff last year as a third-grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. She now represents our Athletic Department as a PE coach, MS volleyball head coach, and varsity softball head coach. She also serves as the Community Service Coordinator. Miss Garcia attended Oklahoma State University where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Secondary Education. Outside of Lakehill, you can find Miss Garcia running around with her dog, Keikoa, or spending time with her family.

MEET THE TEACHERS!

LAURA GIGLIOTTI

Laura Gigliotti joined the Lakehill Prep faculty in the fall of 2016 after moving to Dallas from her home state of Colorado. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, an M.B.A., and a Masters degree in Teaching. Laura has taught kindergarten and second grade and currently teaches first grade. Laura is certified in Crisis Prevention and First Aid/CPR. She was a cheerleader in high school and college and is an alumna of Phi Sigma Sigma sorority.

KAYE HAUSCHILD

Kaye Hauschild is Lakehill’s Head of Middle School. A veteran teacher of more than 35 years, she teaches Texas history and is the Middle School cheer coach. Hauschild holds a Bachelor of Arts from Texas Tech University. A lifelong volunteer, she is a recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award. Hauschild is a co-sponsor of the Lower and Middle School Community Connections Clubs and Lakehill’s Meals on Wheels program. She was honored in 2018 by the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce as the Private Middle School Teacher of the Year.

ZÉLIE JEANVOINE

Zélie Jeanvoine teaches upper school Spanish and middle and upper school French. Mrs. Jeanvoine is a native of Lorraine, just East of France. She attended the Université Paris Nanterre La Défense where she earned her licence d’Espagnol option Anglais. Outside of Lakehill, Mrs. Jeanvoine loves to travel, discover new cultures and ways of life, and of course, she loves practicing different languages.

RACHELLEE JONES

Rachellee Jones teaches first grade at Lakehill. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. Hook ‘em Horns! She loves teaching science. She also has seven years of experience teaching about cultures and art. She loves seeing students get excited about learning!

ANJOLENE MARTIN

AnJolene Martin comes to Lakehill from Las Vegas, Nevada where she attended UNLV and has taught a variety of subjects and grade levels. She has a passion for phonological awareness, Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop, cognitively guided math, and social emotional learning. When she is not wrapped up in academics, AnJolene loves coaching and helping with anything related to singing, dancing, cheer, or theater. These were all a major part of her experience as a student, and she enjoys creating long-lasting memories for others!

JOAN MAYO

Joan Mayo is Lakehill’s Chair of World Languages. A veteran teacher of more than 35 years, she teaches Upper School Spanish and works with Lower School students in Lakehill’s Aftercare Program. Mayo holds her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts Degrees in Spanish Language and Literature from Texas A&M University. Before coming to Lakehill, she lived in Zamora, Spain, where she taught English to Spanish nationals and assisted doctors at the local hospital with medical translations.

JAIRUS MITCHELL

Coach Mitchell has been coaching and teaching for more than 10 years, leading teams in basketball, track, and football. He is proud of his team’s 24-6 record as head football coach, including state runner-up team in 2019, and the state championship in 2020. He is proud to say that he can cheer for five of his former students who now play college football. He is a former college football player with Western Illinois, winning two Gateway Conference Titles. He loves helping kids to achieve their full potential as a person through sports.

JULIE MURUGEN

Julie Murugen teaches Middle School English and Literature and is Lakehill’s K-7 English Department Chair. Since coming to Lakehill, she has written more than twenty customized plays for her drama camps and after-school drama clubs. She received her Master of Arts from Southern Methodist University.

MIA MUSSELMAN

Mia Musselman teaches Physics and Chemistry at Lakehill Prep. She coaches the Lakehill Robotics team and runs Lakehill’s Upper School Magic: The Gathering Club. Mrs. Musselman has also coached lacrosse for five years. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois.

BRADLEY NEYLAND

Bradley Neyland is the Head Coach of Lakehill’s Varsity Boys Basketball team, Bi-District Champions. He has coached basketball at the high school level for more than 10 years and has a degree in Sports Management and Business from Louisiana State University. He also teaches Middle School social studies at Lakehill, enjoys watching and coaching basketball, and cheering for LSU.

HOLLY PARKESS

Holly Parkess is a first grade teacher at Lakehill Preparatory School. Her global adventures have taken her to Germany and Vietnam to share her love of the English language with students. She beleives that when students are allowed to explore their own paths of self-discovery, connecting new ideas to older ones, they will be inspired to pursue learning over their course of their lives.

LAUREN ROSENTHAL

Lakehill lifer Lauren Rosenthal is thrilled to be back on the campus she once called home. Ms. Rosenthal is teaching second grade this year at Lakehill and is excited to share her passions with students this summer. Outside of Lakehill, Ms. Rosenthal enjoys spending time with her niece, nephew, and two dogs, Morrow and Harley. She loves to run, read, and cheer for Dallas Stars hockey.

BAUSTIN SHAW

From Lakehill Alum to Lakehill Teacher, Baustin Shaw has been in the Lakehill family since 2011. After graduating from Carleton College with a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, he went on to work and teach in DISD. This then led him back to Lakehill to continue teaching 4th grade math,science, and martial arts.

COLLIN TREMAIN

Collin Tremain joined the Lakehill staff this year as the Upper School computer science teacher and coaches football and baseball. Collin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Masters’s Degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

JOHN TROUT

John Trout taught fourth grade at Lakehill for 14 years before becoming Head of Lower School. He enjoys learning and teaching a bit of everything, from math to science to literature. He is a former educator for the Memphis Zoo and sponsors clubs for Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, and Robotics at Lakehill. He is a Hufflepuff.

SACHA TROXLER

Sacha Troxler is an artist, educator, and facilitator of creative expression. She has been teaching art at Lakehill for the last 8 years as well as making her own art. She studied Architecture at A&M and went on to earn her MFA from SUNY Purchase. Sacha strongly believes every person is an artist and extracts great joy in helping others bring that artist to the surface. Sacha loves camping, nature, travel, and taking care of Mother Earth.
