Inspiration Arena Complete Lake Erie College completed construction on a new additional indoor equestrian arena, named Inspiration Arena. A ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication took place on August 14. The new riding arena complements the George M. Humphrey Learning Center’s current indoor arena and sits just across the parking lot from the Learning Center. The School of Equine Studies plans to hold western, dressage and therapeutic riding classes and team practices in the 248 ft. x 80 ft. wide arena. The project came to life with funding from generous donors of the College’s equestrian program. Pam Hess, D.V.M., the College’s Dean of the School of Equine Studies notes, “This is the most transformational improvement in the School of Equine Studies since Laddie Andahazy envisioned and built this program in the 1970’s. The addition of 20,000 square feet of riding space allows our students to take more riding classes, enjoy more team practice opportunities and more personal riding time to improve their skills in both Western and English riding. We will also expand our community outreach for therapeutic riding, continuing to provide services through our PATH, Intl. Premier Accredited Therapeutic Riding Center for people who can benefit by being with our horses.” Through the generous philanthropic support of many donors, the construction of the new equestrian riding
arena was made possible. The Triple T Foundation was the lead donor on this project, and so Theodore “Ted” Jones and Alison “Sunny” Jones have requested that the name of the new indoor riding arena be Inspiration Arena. A very generous gift from MJM Industries also made the project possible. The Lake Erie College School of Equine Studies offers four majors: Equine Facility Management, Equine Business Administration, Equestrian Teacher/TrainerEnglish, and Equestrian Therapeutic Horsemanship. Students may also pursue a minor in equine studies, a concentration in equine therapeutic horsemanship, and certification in equine massage therapy.
