Stem Bridge

Lake Erie College is now offering a STEM Bridge Program for CCP students to earn credits while completing the courses necessary for admission to science majors or progress towards a math degree. In addition to the majors, students can also have the opportunity to begin earning credit towards one of three minors: Applied Research, GIS, or Applied Technical Skills. They can also participate in extracurricular activities related to college matriculation.

In addition to credit-bearing work, CCP students will have a chance to participate in other on-campus activities. Programs available to these students include LEC’s signature Pathway to Empowerment Program, workshops with LEC’s Enrollment Management office about applying to college, and advising and personalized assistance facilitated by LEC’s admissions and career readiness advising. Students are also encouraged to attend information nights with LEC’s partners including institutions with medical programs and regional research labs

Students who complete the STEM Bridge program with a 3.0 or higher GPA will be admitted to LEC directly into the science major of their choice and receive their LEC SNSM lab jacket early. Along with admission, they will be eligible for scholarships that will bring out-of-pocket tuition costs to $0-$6,000 depending on need, as identified through LEC’s process. They are also eligible for reserved seats in LEC’s partnership programs.

Make a Gift to Lake Erie College by Year-End

As we approach the end of year, we hope you’ll consider making a gift to Lake Erie College. Gifts from alumni and friends support student scholarships, campus improvements, academic efforts, extracurricular activities and much more. Without gifts from people like you, a Lake Erie education would not be possible for students today.

Consider this additional incentive. The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 provides an additional, “above-the-line” charitable deduction on top of the standard deduction for these taxpayers. Taxpayers who do not itemize their deductions can take a one-time deduction of up to $300 on individual returns or $600 on joint returns for gifts made to charity. The deduction applies ONLY for gifts of cash made in calendar year 2021. For those who do itemize their deductions, this act also extends the charitable deduction to 100% of AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) in 2021 for individuals, and the limit from 10% to 25% of AGI for corporations.
