is pleased to report that she went back to University at age 60. She had emigrated to Australia in 1998 receiving her MBA and working as a research administrator for the University of Chicago. She worked in Human Resources in Australia for about 10 years and realized it was not her dream job. However, she had become a student of human behavior along the way, so she went back to University in 2013 and studied psychology online part-time for eight years, and earned three degrees, finishing with a master’s degree in professional psychology in 2021. She is now in her one year supervised internship, and must pass a board exam to complete the program. She is loving her new found career path and life down under.

MELISSA MCCUE-MGRATH ‘03
has recently started MuttStuff Media, a media hub featuring professionals who work with animals to educate kids and adults alike about the animal world, how animals intersect with humanity, and a peek behind the curtain working with animals professionally through audio content, video training and written media.
Currently, under the umbrella is her flagship podcast, “BewilderBeasts”, a show designed for kids and families to learn about science, history and current events through real stories of animals - like how a horse named Jim inspired the FDA, what pigeons have to do with the vicious diamond industry, and how horseshoe crabs are necessary for the COVID vaccine. Melissa doesn’t believe in dumbing down topics for kids, but does make learning about the world between humans and animals accessible.
In addition to “BewilderBeasts” is an NSFW podcast, “Totally Pawsome Pod”, where Melissa teams up with a veterinarian to discuss controversial topics and myths in the animal world. The show is a peak behind the curtain of working with animals. Melissa’s handbook for dog ownership in a city, Considerations for the City Dog, published in 2015, has also been moved to this new media platform. She will continue dog training and animal behavior consultation work virtually for the foreseeable future as her family adjusts to rural life. They moved from Boston, MA, to a rural paradise in Maine this fall.
