A Letter from the President
Dear friends,
It is hard to believe that I am now in my sixth year as your president! I’m excited to bring you this edition of the Lake Erie College magazine, which is focused on the strength of our many community partnerships. First and foremost, we have pride of place here in Painesville, Ohio. In this issue we emphasize several ways in which the Lake Erie College community engages with the greater Painesville community. Our outreach and partnerships, through initiatives such as Painesville Promise, have been a highlight of this year. Also in this issue, we take note of how LEC continues to improve student development through programming initiatives designed to complement and enhance the student experience. We seek to develop the whole person, so it is crucially important that the out of class experiences reinforce the lessons learned in class, and our new unified model for experiential learning opportunities will better serve students in this way. Now more than ever, supporting our students by creating a positive student experience is key to our success as an institution.

I am pleased to announce that I have promoted Dr. Bryan DePoy to the role of provost for the College. The change in title recognizes the comprehensive nature of his current responsibilities, including providing leadership for institutional planning, quality initiatives, student affairs, accreditation and operational matters for the institution. As provost, he will also provide oversight and leadership regarding more wide-ranging matters related to student and institutional success. Please join me in congratulating him in this new role. None of us expected the wide ranging effects of the global pandemic, but Lake Erie College has shown great resilience, and we have found that through adversity comes new strength and a commitment of working together. Moving forward, we are focused on accomplishing the goals within our strategic plan. Due to COVID, we have made the decision to extend the plan through 2023. Our goals will continue to serve us well, and the College will continue to make progress toward our goals: Supporting. Empowering. Thriving. Enhancing our Focus. Each of you is a significant part of our success as we rely on your continued support and encouragement. We are so grateful to count you as part of our Lake Erie College community.
