Welcome As we wave goodbye to summer, there’s a variety of exciting events and activities to look forward to this autumn and winter. Our popular ‘Fish Fridays’ are back; the Tour of Britain returned to the Lake District at the beginning of September, with a team time trial, as well as a summit finish on Whinlatter Pass. On top of this we are introducing a selection of wine talks and tastings, you can catch live streamed opera and ballet at the local cinema and the famous Theatre by the Lake autumn performances include ‘Beauty & The Beast’. There’s never been a better time to enjoy a break in the Lakes. I hope to see you soon!

Refurbishment Plans We like to make sure our rooms are as up to date as possible, and this winter will see four first floor rooms receive a full make over in time for Christmas. We also like our bedrooms to have the best beds which are highly praised by our guests. We work with internationally acclaimed local bed company Sealy Beds to ensure our guests have a great night’s sleep.

60 Seconds With Our New General Manager From wedding co-ordinator, to Duty Manager and now General Manager, George Smith has had a wonderful working journey with us. Previously at Inn on the Lake, George joined our team just before Christmas, we asked him to share his favourite things that make The Borrowdale Hotel so special…
“There are period touches everywhere dating back to 1866, from the original room bells in the reception, to the Victorian veranda. I also love the variety; from the cosy real log fires in the relaxing lounges, to wine tasting in the glass front wine cellar and fine dining in the AA Rosette restaurant. Of course the location, I think you’ll agree, speaks for itself. On top of this, the Borrowdale would not be the same without our fabulous staff and our guests! We love spending time helping our guests make the most of their stay and discovering the glorious area.”

A great way to start the weekend… Every Friday from 12noon find a selection of fresh fish on our menu. This will change every week but the old favourites like fish and chips will always be there, served in the bar & conservatory.
