Join the Time Travellers Book Club, where you become a detective of the past. As you read War Game, you’ll uncover what really happened in the First World War and decide for yourself how much of the story is fact, how much is fiction, and why it matters.

You won’t just read — you’ll debate the big ideas, critique the characters’ choices, and build real reading fluency as you explore courage, conflict, and the famous Christmas truce. Grab your curiosity and step onto the pitch — and the battlefield.

Our Futsal Club is led by an experienced external coach. Futsal is a fast-paced, exciting variation of football that focuses on quick thinking, precision, and technical ability.

You’ll learn advanced techniques, improve your ball control, and develop tactical awareness—all in a fun, competitive environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to train with a professional and sharpen your skills for both futsal and football.

WEDNESDAY CHOIR LEAD: MR POTTER (G3) YEARS: 7-10 DAY: WEDNESDAY DURING PSHE TIME: 2.35-3.10PM LOCATION: G3 SKILLS: VOCAL TECHNIQUE, HARMONISING, PERFORMANCE If you enjoy singing and want to be part of a friendly, supportive group, Choir Club is the perfect place for you.

Whether you’re a beginner or have experience, you’ll have the chance to develop your vocal skills, learn new songs, and perform as part of an ensemble.

Members of the choir regularly perform at special events such as the Pensioners’ Party and the end-of-year shows, giving you exciting opportunities to showcase your talents and be part of memorable community celebrations.

Meet regularly to rehearse a variety of music styles, build confidence, and enjoy the joy of making music with others. Choir Club is a great way to express yourself, meet new friends, and be part of the school’s vibrant creative community.

STEM CLUB LEAD: MRS HEWITT YEARS: 7-10 DAY: WEDNESDAY TIME: 3.15-4PM LOCATION: SCIENCE DEPARTMENT SKILLS: SKILLS: CRITICAL THINKING, PROBLEM SOLVING, COLLABORATION This year, our STEM offer is bigger and better than ever, featuring a fantastic range of activities that go beyond the classroom and challenge your creativity and problem-solving skills. Activities will be advertised weekly, so keep an eye on your classcharts! Sessions this half term will include a forensic science activity, rocket launching, bath bomb recreation and a building a catapult!

DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD LEAD: MR THOMPSON (G3) YEARS: 9 DAY: WEDNESDAY TIME: 3.15-4PM SKILLS: CONFIDENCE, PROBLEM-SOLVING, TEAMWORK, RESILIENCE

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a life-changing experience – a chance to have fun with friends, discover new talents, and develop valuable life skills. It’s a recognised mark of achievement, respected by colleges, universities, and employers alike.

At Bronze level, you’ll complete four sections: volunteering to support your community or the environment, taking part in a physical activity to improve your fitness, learning a new skill, and planning, training for, and completing an adventurous expedition.

The DofE is open to all young people, regardless of background, gender, or ability. It’s not a competition – it’s about setting your own goals, rising to new challenges, and building confidence along the way.

As you progress, you’ll develop essential life and work skills such as teamwork, communication, resilience, and problem-solving – all of which will help boost your CV, university applications, and future career opportunities.

It’s perfect for any green fingered students interested in gardening, sustainability or simply enjoying time outdoors.

Going to the school gym really helps with many aspects of my life: I have gained confidence, it has improved my skills in sports, it has helped me stay concentrated in lessons, and it helps keeps me fit. I always feel fresher and healthier after a session at the gym.

Through high-level problem-solving, engaging puzzles, and advanced mathematical thinking, students develop confidence, resilience, and a deeper understanding of the subject.

Axiom Maths is just one of the ways we aim to nurture excellence and provide meaningful stretch and challenge for our students. This year, a group of specially selected Year 7 stu-dents have been invited to advocate for the Axiom Maths Challenge, demonstrating their ex-pertise and love of learning in mathematics. We’re excited to see what they achieve as they explore new concepts and inspire each other with their curiosity and determination.

MAKE-UP MASTERCLASS LEAD: MRS HIGGINS YEARS: 7-10 DAY: FRIDAY - DATE TBC TIME: 3.15-4.15PM LOCATION: B15 The Make-up Masterclass offers a fun, relaxed space where students can learn how to apply make-up safely and effectively. Perfect for starting the weekend or getting ready for Friday night plans, the session teaches simple techniques, tips, and tricks to help students feel confident in their own style. *Please note students must bring their own make up, brushes, and mirrors, as the club focuses on using products they already know and feel comfortable with.
