If you will not be visiting the destination wedding location until the event, I suggest booking with the designer of your choice early in the planning stages. This is where plenty of phone and Skype conversations, research, reviews and trust comes in. In many cases, the wedding cake is booked before a tasting has even been done. Bakers are limited to the number of orders they can take in a wedding season and do fill up quickly, especially if it is a destination wedding area.
