LOS ANGELES FIRE DEPARTMENT SPECIAL EVENT PROCEDURES Approval and/or permits from the Fire Department must be obtained under the following circumstances:
Concerts, fairs, festivals, races, exhibits, shows, parades, carnivals and circus Operate or maintain a live theater production Candles or any open flame at a public assemblage Filming or video taping Fireworks display Special effects Use of compressed gases or liquefied flammable gas Change of use to a public assemblage event Motor vehicle displays All temporary structures, stages, platforms, towers, booths, tents, and canopies Premieres Temporary seating
The following information must be provided in writing to the Fire Department:
Explanation describing the nature of the event (street festivals, award shows, premieres, cooking events, pyrotechnics, special effects, media, or videotaping, VIP visits, etc.) Identification of the location Buildings shall be fully sprinkler for events with 1, 000 people or more Time and Date Estimate of people expected to attend event Identification of the persons(s) responsible for the event, production, and security manager(s) Profile of talent (how popular?) Plans o Medical o Security o Communication o Transport o Talent o Opening and closing of the event o Site Plan – to be scale and include: Location of the event command center All temporary structures, stages, platforms, towers, tents, booths, and canopies Location of generators, large trash bins, and portable toilets All dining, drinking, and cooking areas
