HYDRANTS AND ACCESS UNIT Notice: The Development Services Center building (201 N. Figueroa St.) remains closed to the public entirely with the exception of the ground floor. There are drop off and pick up boxes in the lobby for each Development Services department, including LAFD, where any hardcopy documents may be left and retrieved. Please also note the LAFD counters in West L.A. and Van Nuys are both closed until further notice.
UPDATED: EFFECTIVE THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 3, 2020: To Submit Plans to LAFD Hydrants and Access 1) Currently we are only accepting hard copies of plans via drop-off at our Metro Office located at 201 N. Figueroa St. The Hydrants and Access Unit is unable to review digital plans at this time. 2) PLEASE drop off plans in the “Fire Department” bin in the lobby. At a MINIMUM, the following documents are required to be submitted along with the plans: ➢ A completed Hydrants and Access plan check application form which can be downloaded at https://www.lafd.org/hydrants-and-access ➢ A copy of the LADBS permit application including the structure inventory ➢ A copy of the LADBS clearance sheet ➢ Plans for the proposed project(s). At a minimum, submitted plans should include site/plot plans, floor plans, roof plans, and elevations. ➢ If the project clearance is oil well related, a Construction Site Well Review (CSWR) letter will be required. A CSWR letter can be obtained from CalGEM (DOGGR). ➢ Any additional supporting documentation that will assist with the plan review. 3) Applicants will be notified via email when the plan review is complete with an attached invoice and payment instructions or requested modifications/corrections. 4) For re-stamps, please provide a completed plan check application, the original stamped set of plans, and the new sets of plans to be stamped. Please be sure to check the re-stamp box located at the bottom of the Hydrants and Access Plan Check Application. 5) Please send all general questions and requests to lafdhydrants@lacity.org along with any supporting documents in PDF format. 6) Plans will be available for pick up in the lobby of Figueroa Plaza across from the drop off area. The applicant will be contacted via email/phone to be scheduled for a pickup date when review is completed. 7) The applicant will receive an invoice with instructions for completing payment through the online cashiering system. Payments will be accepted via electronic check or credit card. LAFD Hydrants and Access will clear the transaction upon receipt of payment within 2 business days.
