Duiwelskloof awards their top bowlers
The Duiwelskloof Bowls Club held their annual meeting recently and announced their trophy winners. In front are Rosemary Atherstone (mixed trips), Aletta Carocari (ladies’ plate singles), Jenny Murray (ladies’ pairs) and Beate Altenroxel (ladies’ novice singles). At the back are Erna (ladies’ singles and ladies’ handicap
singles) and Louw Swanepoel (men’s plate singles), Teneze Henrico (mixed pairs), Doug Reed (mixed pairs and men’s handicap singles), Zane Fanie (men’s singles), Johan Benadé (mixed trips) and Pierre van Staden (men’s pairs). Wilmarie and Jaco
Unicorn Preparatory School named their sport stars of 2012 recently. Mfumo “Magic Feet” Mongwe was named the senior football player of the year. He participated in a SAFA invitation tournament for u.15’s in Cape Town. Mfumo, still only u.13, went home with the coveted award for striker of the tournament. Anke Vaughan was named senior netball player of the year. Mfumo Mongwe Unicorn’s very own Gary Kasperov, Joshua Minifie, took part in the SA Chess Open Tournament in Cape Town recently. Playing against much older opponents, Joshua held his own and came out of the
at the recent Bell Junior National Race outside Hluhluwe in KZN recently. Jaco won the senior open quad class for the third time this season and is leading the championship. Wilmarie competes in the junior modified quad class and took part in only her second national race this year. She competes with a Yamaha hybrid quad and won the class.
Relapse prevention and motivation by Damian Jansen van Rensburg It is of utmost importance that a person participating in a physical training program implements strategies to prevent a relapse to less active or inactive state. Unexpected events, schedule changes, vacations and illnesses are but a few of the countless things that trigger such a relapse. A few simple ways to remain motivated and to prevent relapses are: THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SOCIAL SUPPORT NETWORK for exercise. This simply means to get family members and friends involved to some degree in the program. You have to be ASSERTIVE, the more assertive you are towards your
progress, concerns, accomplishments and struggles the more likely you are to achieve success. SELF REGULATION. The better you are at managing your own behaviours, schedules, time and priorities, the more likely you will be to follow a training program. Then lastly being able to manage HIGH RISK SITUATIONS, to be more prepared with program barriers and relapses.
