Founder and Managing Director of vU5, Laetitia Nienaber-Oosthuizen, has firsthand experience of the benefits of the system. Her children have all obtained SAQA approved matric certificates through virtual education. “Yet, after a decade, this option is still not available to the majority of our youth,” says Nienaber-Oosthuizen. The good news is that the South African government plans to reach 100% broadband penetration in the country by 2020. This means access to virtual learning for all. More good news is that this “green” method can save learners over 80% of the costs of traditional classroom training in the form of transport, accommodation, books, and computers.
