October marks the beginning of my favorite time of the year. The mornings begin to usher in cooler breezes and the leaves lose themselves from the trees and begin to gently swirl toward the ground. Sweaters, jackets, scarves and hats are moved to more prominent places in my closet. Quiet time with God while taking long, peaceful walks on the empty beach. The smell of sweet potatoes baking in the oven while I search for special recipes to impress my in-laws for our upcoming family gathering. Leisurely strolling through our local stores, taking my sweet time to find that perfect gift for the folks I love. Yes, October is the perfect time of the year for quiet reflection. A perfect time to enjoy the moment and start planning ahead, but not just for the holidays. Perhaps this October will mark the beginning of a more benevolent me, a more forgiving me, a gentler and more understanding me.
