Supporters of Saint Louis Crisis Nursery gathered at ‘Napoli Night for the Crisis Nursery’ to raise funds in support of child abuse prevention. This event, presented by Byrne & Jones Construction and hosted by Crisis Nursery’s Young Professionals Board, was held at Bar Napoli. More than 300 guests helped raise $24,000 for the organization.

St. Louis ‘own Cedric the Entertainer accepted Variety’s Champion for Kids award at the charity’s annual Champions for Children Summit. He left the crowd in stitches after accepting the nod and noted the Variety Kids’ determination and positive outlook are an inspiration to him. Variety the Children’s Charity celebrated raising more than $4.5 million to support 14,000 St. Louis kids with disabilities, honored Wells Fargo Advisors with this year’s President’s Award and seven agencies with the Stellar Performance Awards.

The Assistance League of St. Louis celebrated its 25th anniversary milestone by hosting ‘Let’s Celebrate,’ a fundraising gala at The Ritz-Carlton, emceed by KSDK’s Cindy Preszler. Volunteer Julie McAllister presented with Ada Edwards Laughlin award for outstanding service to the organization, and Elder Corporation received National Operation School Bell Award for their outstanding collaborative effort serving the community through the Operation School Bell program. The evening raised $155,000 for the philanthropic programs of the organization.

Children’s bookseller Jennifer MacAdam-Miller of Reading Habitat partnered with her friend, Ruthie Zarren, owner of Little Fishes Swim School to host a book fair to to donate to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. The two women delivered $500 worth of books to the Bob Costas Cancer Center at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center.

Students at Rossman School took a trip around the globe (figuratively speaking, of course) during International Week: India! Throughout the week, students experienced the diversity of India woven through the entire curriculum, including music and food samples from a different region of the country each day, history and geography, P.E. (where students learned to play cricket) and art.
