Ibiza is more than just beach, sun and party. It is also culture, cuisine and tradition. It is its people. Tolerant, discreet, and welcoming yet fuss-free; people you can trust. People who understand that their most valuable asset is the beauty of the landscapes around them, and who are now fighting to preserve them. And then there are the expats who give the island that cosmopolitan feel that’s so unique in Spain.

MORE THAN TWO DECADES AFTER SETTLING ON THE ISLAND, I STILL LOVE TO EXPLORE IT BY CAR, BY BIKE, ON FOOT OR ON HORSEBACK, REDISCOVERING IT

When the tourist crowds leave and the silence returns to the beaches, I enjoy my bike rides out to the coves. The sea is even bluer, and I sit and listen to the gulls, I smell the frost-wet pines, and I like to caress the fine sand of the beaches.

More than two decades after settling on the island, I still love to explore it by car, by bike, on foot or on horseback, rediscovering it and allowing myself to be seduced by its 540 km2 of history, scenic nature and hidden corners.
