The Gaiety Theatre

Steeped in history and tradition, the Gaiety Theatre is one of the finest remaining examples of work by the renowned theatre architect, Frank Matcham. It’s a stunning setting to enjoy a year-round calendar of plays, musicals, concerts and comedy shows.

Gaiety Theatre Tours run from Easter to October.

The Villa Marina Arcade

The beautiful art deco style Villa Marina Arcade is home to one of the Isle of Man’s best kept secrets: the Mighty Wurlitzer organ. The arcade and adjoining colonnade host a collection of popular eateries and restaurants, including Café Villa, Villa Fusion and Frank Matcham’s all in the centre of the capital’s cultural quarter.

The Villa Marina

The centerpiece of the Villa Marina is the Royal Hall, a spectacular auditorium that combines Edwardian grandeur with lighting and sound technology to create an amazing atmosphere at every show. The Villa Marina is also home to versatile event spaces, the Broadway Cinema and the popular Dragon’s Castle play area.

WELCOME

Failt erriu (welcome) to the new biannual What’s On brochure from VillaGaiety, covering all ticketed and public events for November 2024 to April 2025. This printed brochure is for you to browse at your leisure, you can tear out the back page calendar for your fridge or share with a friend who may be interested in one of the many events in our programme.

Within these 40 pages you’ll find events categorised by family, comedy, theatre, music and talks. We’ve also listed some future dates for those who like to plan further ahead.

No two weeks are ever the same at VillaGaiety, which is particularly clear when reviewing the programme in this way. As our nation’s flagship buildings for creativity and entertainment, events are purposefully curated to be broad and representative of the Island community and accessible to as many people as possible. We’re grateful for the ongoing support and enthusiasm of the Manx public, who last year attended events in their thousands (211,904 visitors, to be precise).

There is much to look forward to in the coming months at VillaGaiety. Early 2025 will see the phase one completion of the upgrade of the sound, lighting and rigging in the Villa Marina Royal Hall, along with the start of the 125th anniversary of the Gaiety Theatre. SPARK: the festival of creativity for children and their grown-ups will also return with a new summer date and themed as a celebration of nature.

As to what’s in my diary for the next six months: The Night Sky Show will explore our wider universe and inspire us to make the most of the Island’s renowned dark skies status. I’m excited to welcome the Olivier Award-winning Little Bulb Theatre for the first time as SPARK headliners with Four Seasons. For music, the return of Jack Savoretti to the Villa Marina Royal Hall is set to be a great night, and for fellow visual art fans, Broadway Cinema is bringing Exhibitions on Screen including Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers. Whatever your interests, I hope that you’ll find a memorable experience to enjoy within these pages.

Gura mie eu (thank you) for your ongoing support of our programme and we look forward to welcoming you to the buildings soon.

This is not a musical. Milton Jones is tone deaf and has no sense of rhythm, but at least he doesn’t make a song and dance about it.
