A celebration of life and resilience of the Puerto Rican people, exactly one year after Hurricane Maria made landfall on the Island, on Sept. 20, 2017.
La Casita is proud to premiere the performance of an original piece of music composed by José “Peppie” Calvar, choir conductor and assistant professor at Syracuse University’s Setnor School of Music, to be sung by Hendricks Chapel Choir. Calvar's latest work, inspired by the journey of the Puerto Rican people, is a tribute to the families displaced from their homeland, many of them now living here in Syracuse. Our entire community joins in a warm welcome, in support of these families.
This program is a collaboration with Syracuse University's
Puerto Rican Student Association in partnership with La L.U.C.H.A.. presenting a student-produced short film titled:
A YEAR AFTER HURRICANE MARIA.
