DISTRIBUTION

Film distribution in Central America is monopolized by big media and leaves practically no space for independent films.

We focus on distributing our own content and that of other independent filmmakers. We occupy non-conventional spaces to hold pop-up screenings and itinerant cinema to reach all the countries in the region, especially the Central American indigenous communities.

TALENT AGENCY

During our lifetime as a company, we have trained many actors in our own method. We have created a platform representing local and foreign actors and actresses. Aside, we have a database with more than 700+ profiles of actresses and actors.

ACTORS AND CREW ACADEMY

The Academy was an initiative by renowned director Jayro Bustamante and his production house, La Casa de Producción, aimed at discovering new talents and strengthening the local cinema industry. Children, young people and adults from Guatemala and all Central America can now train under great teachers and truly learn the trade.

The only cinema in Guatemala that offers a listing of auteur films, no entrance fee. Presently residing at the Spanish Cultural Center (Centro Cultural de EspañaCCE) in Guatemala City.

Established in 2018, Ixcanul Foundation seeks to educate through film, cause positive impact and social change, promote critical thinking, develop new professional filmmakers, through national and international productions of significant quality and content. The Foundation considers film and audiovisual media as flexible and accessible tools not just for entertainment purposes, but as social mirrors and means for reflecting.

Our three columns of action are:

1. Itinerant cinema traveling to out-of-the-way places in Central America, accompanied by discussion panels.

2. Volcán Documentaries: a program for teaching indigenous communities how to make documentaries denouncing, promoting, or shedding light on subjects of interest.

3. Scholarships in support of children from low-income families who want to study filmmaking.

Today Petén fights to keep its forests and biodiversity before the advancing agricultural frontier, as well as protecting its immense archeological heritage. The province, largest in the country, contains two Maya Biosphere reserves, seven national parks, five wildlife refuges and four protected biotopes. It is strong in agriculture, but tourism contributes greatly to the economy as a top-ranking tourist destination the world over.

However, there is both subsistence traditional agriculture and commercial, especially famous for its citrus production. Also well-known are the decorative carved gourds made from calabash fruits. There is a rich traditional dance culture in the province, especially Rabinal Achi, a prehispanic historical drama rescued and translated to French by the priest and archeologist Brasseur de Bourbourg, in mid-nineteenth century.
