We Represent You! The Hanover Park Park District is a separate governing agency established for the purpose of providing parks, facilities and recreational programs for the community. The Park District is responsible for the maintenance, operation and administration of parks and park facilities under its jurisdiction. The Park District is governed by five commissioners elected at large for overlapping, four-year terms. The commissioners set the policies for the operation of the Park District.

Meetings are the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 7 pm in the Community Center Board Room. Residents are welcome to attend.

Letter From The Board President The Hanover Park Park District Welcomes our new Executive Director Rick Wulbecker and our new Recreation Manager Nicole Cox. Rick has been at the Hanover Park Park District since 2000 as Athletic Director, Seafari Springs Aquatic Center Aquatic Supervisor and the Superintendent of Recreation.

He is a graduate of the IPRA Professional Development School. He has taken a leading role in two Park District Comprehensive Strategic Plans. Rick has over 30 years of Park District experience working for the Hoffman Estates Park District and the Wheeling Park District as Facilities Director, Athletic Supervisor and Aquatic Supervisor. He graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor degree in Recreation and Parks Administration. Rick and his wife Janet reside in Hoffman Estates, IL. Nicole has been with the Hanover Park Park District since 2006 as a Recreation Supervisor with program responsibilities that included Preschool, Summer Camp, Early Childhood, Before/After School, Dance and Special Events. She is a graduate of the IPRA Professional Development School.

Nicole has over 10 years of Park District experience working for the Schaumburg Park District and the Genoa Township Park District. She graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor degree in Recreation and Parks Administration.

NEW Miniature Golf Party (Ages 5-14)

Our Miniature Golf Course is fun, unique and designed just for you! It appeals to children of all age. Miniature golf will be set up for party guests to enjoy. (MD)

NEW Cooking and Games Party (Ages 6-13) $110/$125 Enjoy our new cooking party where you can pick from pizza, cupcakes, or quesadillas to cook. While the food is cooking you get to play our “60 seconds or less” games. (MD)

“Princess for a Day” Party (Ages 6-10) Birthday Party Packages Include: • 10 Children plus birthday child, their mother and father • Each additional guest will be $5 (child or adult) • 1 hour of playtime and 1 hour in the party room • Thirty (30) minutes before/after your party to set-up, decorate and clean up. Trash bags and trash removal included.

• Additional time can be added for $30 per half hour, wit a maximum of 1 hour extra.

• One dedicated party host/hostess (for up to 20 guests) • Additional host(s) for any parties over 20 guests • A cart to bring in and take out your party supplies • Decorations, plastic table covers, napkins, plates, and cups (specific colors may be requested by not guaranteed) • You are welcome to bring in your own decorations, juice, pop, food or cake, (coordinate with Mark Dolphin).

To reserve a party, a party reservation form must be filled out and returned with a $50 non-refundable deposit fee. Final payment and number of guests are due 5 business days before your party.

Early Childhood

Early Childhood Program Guideline Pull ups are accepted, but our staff are not able to change any child. Children should be in the process of learning how to be toilet independent while attending programs. Parents must be available to return to the program to change their child’s pull up or in case of a bathroom accident.

Preschool Enrichment Enroll you child today in one of our Enrichment Programs.

Children do not need to be enrolled in preschool to attend these programs. Children will learn about a variety of topics throughout the school year. Make sure to pack your child a lunch. This is a great way to extend your child’s preschool day or expose them to the classroom setting.

Beauty and the Beat Each week will feature a different fairytale such as “Beauty and the Beast” to dance using props and our imaginations.

Preschool Preschool Mission Statement The Hanover Park Park District’s Preschool program provides a safe and nurturing learning environment to encourage the progression of socialization skills, motor skills, and emotional development while encouraging independence, self expression and listening skills. Our students are prepared for kindergarten through the learning areas of numbers, math, letters, writing, reading, colors and shapes.

Totally 2s & 3s Enrollment Procedure

The smart choice to get your little one ready for kindergarten. Students will learn about size, color and shapes, numbers, reading readiness, following directions, time, listening skills and social-emotional development.

Teachers will explore the alphabet, addresses, phone numbers and name writing with your child. Classes are designed for the child entering kindergarten in the fall of 2017. A graduation celebration will be held at the end of the school year. Class maximum: 14 students.

Registration must be completed at the Park District office.

The entire fee is due at time of registration. A copy of the child’s birth certificate is due at time of registration. Your child must be 2 years old by September 1, 2016. Upon registering you will be given a copy of the parent manual, emergency form, and medication form. The forms are due on the first day of class.

Before & After School Club

SCHOOL CLUB Before & After School Club (BASC) Payment Information Tuition is based on the total number of days school is actually in session per year. Fees are divided into 9 equal payments for the school year and will not be lower for those months that have fewer attendance days due to holidays (i.e. winter and spring break). Participants are not charged for holidays and days off from school.

A $15 non-resident fee will be charged at the time of registration when applicable.

Registration Information Registration must be completed at the Park District office.

Phone-in registration will not be accepted. A parent handbook will be given out at the time of registration.

Included in the handbook is an Emergency Release Form.

This form is due on the first day of BASC.

Days Off From School Information BASC does not run on days when school is not in session.

If the school closes due to inclement weather the BASC will be closed. There will be additional programs on some of the school districts’ full days off.

BASC Daily Pass Don’t have a set schedule or need childcare when something comes up, then this is your solution.

The Daily Pass allows you to purchase days and use them when you need them throughout the school year. There are guidelines that will be given out at time of registration.

Please note that some dates may become unavailable based on ratios. No refunds given on unused passes.

Recital Class Information We provide an excellent dance education to our students of all ages. Dancers gain valuable self-confidence as they master new skills, learn to be part of an ensemble, and achieve long-term goals while preparing for their performances at the end of the year. Each studio for dance features a wooden floor, mirrors and Ballet Barres.

Classes meet for 27 weeks. Each dancer will receive a beautiful achievement award during the last week of class.

All dancers will receive one School of Dance t-shirt.

Below you will find important information about our recital classes. Parents must read the Dance Parent Manual for more information regarding these Classes.

Dance Open House

The payment plan is available to families registering for more than one dance class. 50% of the total amount is due at registration. The other 50% is due by February 3.

(Costume fees are not included in the payment plan. All costume fees are due by Saturday, November 12.) Only those families making ALL Dance program payments on time will be eligible for a payment plan in the future. To set up a payment plan, contact Customer Relations Supervisor Gina Mastro-Strickler at 630-837-2468 ext. 121 at least one week before you register. Payment plans will not be set up on the day of registration.

Meet the Instructors Alyssa Leahy

Ms. Alyssa has been dancing and performing for 17 years. She began dancing at a young age and has consistently trained and expanded her dance experience since. Alyssa has been in the competitive company, Dance Stellar Productions, for 5 years. Within these years, she has had many performing opportunities and has had the privilege of working with various choreographers and dancers. Alyssa is continuing her training and expanding her dance career in the Chicagoland area with various studios and companies. While growing as a dancer herself, she wants to share that experience with those who want to grow as a dancer as well.

Being a teacher at Hanover Park Park District allows her to do so while allowing her to begin her career as a dancer.

See the Studio and meet our dance instructors! The annual gently-used dance shoe sale will be during this event. If you have not already registered for Dance, the office will be open until 12 pm on September 10 for your convenience.

Costumes Fees Costume fees are due by 11:30 am on Saturday, November 12. Payment is taken at the Main Office. Late fee will be applied if payment is not received by the deadline.

Dancers must be in class on measurement day. Instructor will inform parents of date. Alterations, if necessary, are the responsibility of the parent. An additional fee may be required if the costume is larger than XL.

Ms. Deb began dancing at the age of three. She studied under Maria Canopa, Sharon Kassell and Russian Prima Ballerina, Lisa Bohem. Deb danced with the Northwest Performing Dance Company and performed in many community theater productions such as Fidler on the Roof, the King and I and Carousel. Deb is the Mom of four grown children and is an All Day Preschool Teacher’s Aide, at St Hubert School in Hoffman Estates. Deb looks forward to sharing her experience and love for Dance with her students!

Ms. Natalie returns for her third year at the Hanover Park School of Dance. She began her dance education at the Hanover Park School of Dance. She has a degree in Special Education from NIU and has taught dance at the St. Charles Park District. She specializes in Ballet, Tap, and Lyrical and will be teaching on Tuesday evenings. Her focus is contemporary and original, featuring creative choreography that combines elements of improvisation and funk.

Erica Stanko Erica has been dancing since age 3 and never stopped! She taught at the Hanover Park School of Dance from 2008-2013, and is happy to be back. By day, Erica is the recruitment and volunteer coordinator at Northwest Special Recreation Association, which provides recreation services for children and adults with disabilities. Through this, she has collaborated on the Broadway Buddies program, where individuals with disabilities have the opportunity to learn music and dance skills, with a musical show at the end of the program. Although her background is in special education, dance and theater have always been a part of her life, and she has been the choreographer for The King’s Players since 2008.

Her favorite form of dance is musical theater, but she also has had training in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop and tumbling.

Sarah Tyschenko Ms. Sarah has been a student demonstrator for a wide variety of classes at the Hanover Park School of Dance and has returned for her second year of teaching here. Her solid understanding of a range of styles informs her energetic and contemporary approach to Hip Hop.

Recital Classes’ Descriptions Pre-Ballet (30 minutes) The younger dancer, with 0 – 1 year of dance experience, will learn the basics of ballet and its vocabulary through creative games and exercises. In this fun environment that will allow your dancer to develop their creativity and love for dance.

Pre-Tap (30 minutes) Pre-Tap is for the younger dancer with 0 – 1 year of dance experience. They will learn the basics of tap and tap vocabulary through creative games and exercises. This class provides a fun environment that will allow your dancer to develop their creativity and love for dance.

Ballet Beg-I Students will learn ballet terminology through barre exercises, turns, jumps and center work. An emphasis will be placed on posture, strength, flexibility, musicality and grace at these levels.

Ballet-Tap Beg-II

Dance Attire Ballet Girls-leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes with elastic attached (no slippers), tutu optional. Hair must be secured away from the face in a ponytail or bun. Boys-shorts & t-shirt, black ballet shoes with elastic attached (no slippers).

Dancers will improve their ballet skills including poise, grace and musicality for part of this class. The other part of the class will focus on improving tap footwork, coordination, rhythm and timing.

Boys Tap Beg-I For dance students who are new to dance or who have completed one year of experience. Students learn tap footwork while working on coordination . Rhythm and timing will be introduced.

Ballet-Jazz All Levels Jazz Black fitted dancewear (black leotard, black dance capris or dance shorts, black footless tights) black split sole slip-on jazz shoes. Hair must be away from the face.

Tap Girls- leotard, pink tights, ballet skirt/dance shorts/dance pants (no loose or baggy clothing) and black tap shoes.

Students learn ballet and jazz terminology and steps, and will polish performance skills.

Nerf Battles

Prepare your kids for the future! In this exciting class, children learn programming essentials with software developed by MIT, and other recognized teaching institutions. It allows children to program their own interactive stories, games and animations. It encourages systematic reasoning, creativity, and helps them to work collaboratively. All Star Super Sports Jr. Program This is for the all-around athlete or for a child who wants to take a shot at different sports! Stay active and work on balance, motor skills and hand eye coordination all while learning the rules of baseball, football, floor hockey, soccer, basketball and more! We will focus on a new sport each class and work on basic rules and mechanics all while we play games that keep everyone moving. There’s no reason to pick a sport when you can play them all!

T-ball Jr. Program T-Ball can be a boring game if taught the wrong way!

The All Star approach to baseball is one that will engage all players no matter their skill level. Our coaching technique will provide basic building blocks in a fun safe environment. We have created a system that keeps the players moving and learning even while in the dugout!

Mechanics and hand eye coordination are the keys to early success. Players in this program will be more confident in this active class as we work on the proper mechanics of catching, throwing, fielding, base running and batting. This fun and exciting program will prepare each player for the level II, t-ball or coach pitch leagues.

Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive, and DODGE!!! Join the All Star Sports Instruction staff for a session of pure excitement and fun! Basketball Jr. Program Our instructional program is designed to teach the game of basketball at a basic level while making sure the players stay active and engaged the entire class! Fun basketball like games will be played to teach the importance of each skill learned. Boxing Academy- Youth & Adult The HPPD Boxing Academy develops self-confidence and self-respect in a safe and fun environment. Participants will be taught how to perform better and get that competitive edge. 1st-2nd Grade Co-Ed Basketball League Winter 2016/17

3rd-8th Grade Girl Basketball InterVillage Leagues - Winter 2016/17

Come join our 1st/2nd grade co-ed instructional youth basketball league that will introduce your child to the basic fundamentals of basketball. Players will receive instruction from Rocky Robinson and another hired instructor in dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, as well as learn the importance of teamwork and good sportsmanship.

Come play in these instructional leagues that will introduce your child to the basic fundamentals of basketball. Players will receive instruction from volunteer coaches in dribbling, passing, shooting, as well as learn the importance of teamwork and good sportsmanship. Practice location, day and time are determined by the volunteer coach and facility availability. Teams will be formed based at the 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 grade levels and will compete against other teams from other area Park Districts. Registration Deadline is Wednesday, November 30. After the 2nd practice there will be no refunds issued. (MD)

Teams will participate starting January 4. They will perform skills and drills for the first 30-35 minutes and then will play a game for the last 25-30 minutes which will consist of two 12-15 minute halves. Games will be instructional and can be stopped at any time to teach the participants. Players will receive t-shirts and an award.

High School Co-Ed Basketball League – Winter 2017

Come join our youth basketball league that will introduce your child to the basic fundamentals of basketball.

Are you looking for a league that isn’t like anything out there? Are you looking to play basketball, but have fun at the same time? Come join our new and improved, fun and unique high school basketball league. It will give you a chance to play competitively against kids your age. Each basketball player will receive a reversible jersey, and at the end of the season a $10 gift card.

Teams will be formed based at the 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th grade levels. All teams will be formed by a draft system.

The head coach and assistant coach may protect their child (keep them on the same team). NO OTHER REQUESTS WILL BE ALLOWED BEFORE/AFTER THE DRAFT. Coaches Meeting will directly follow the player evaluations. All coaches must be present including assistant coaches for the coaches meeting in order to have both coaches’ kids on the same team. No exceptions.

There will be a Skills Competition in the middle of the season which is open to all players in the league. They will compete in 4 different challenges to earn points and the participants with the three highest point totals will each earn $25 worth of gift cards. Come out and experience the high school basketball league that will show you what fun and competition is all about. Registration Deadline is January 13! After this date, registration will only be accepted if there is space in the league. The maximum number of players for the league is 40. After the 2nd practice/game there will be no refunds issued.

The Open Basketball program is supervised and open to individuals looking for recreational basketball play. The schedule runs from November 2016 thru April 2017. Shotokan Karate Youth Illinois Shotokan Karate Club’s youth karate classes will put children in touch with their bodies and offers a good mix of strength training, with cardiovascular and flexibility exercises. Children increase their coordination, agility and poise, as well as learn lasting personal safety skills. Club Después y Antes de la Escuela

Senior Run-A-Bout Club Join us on Tuesdays from 10A-3P for games, activities, friends and FUN. Our senior run-a-bout club is a great way to meet new people in our community and stay active by playing games, going out to eat, and going on trips. Some games they like to play are; Help your neighbor, poker, Kings Corners, Michigan Rummy and Bingo. Each week will have a different theme which may consist of games, contests or potlucks. Once a season we will celebrate yearly participants’ birthdays (that fall within the particular season) with cake and a gift. There is a yearly or daily fee to help defray the cost of food, gifts, prizes, and the senior coordinator. Our shuttle bus service is available at an additional fee. For more information about the shuttle bus service or to schedule your pick up/drop off, please contact Mark Dolphin, Athletic Supervisor.

Racquetball* and Tennis court time may be reserved on a permanent basis for three sessions per year by filling out a permanent court time contract. When you reserve tennis permanent court time you receive the following benefits: Reduced rate because you pay in advance for each session, we reduce the hourly rate by $1.00. Tennis and Racquetball: Guaranteed reservation – you never need to call, just come in and play, your court is waiting. PCT goes on sale August 15, 2016 at 9 am. Those purchasing PCT during the season will have the first opportunity to purchase PCT for the Winter 2017 season.

The Centre Court Athletic Club (CCAC) is a community facility, owned and operated by the Hanover Park Park District. We offer the finest in services and facilities for fitness, health, racquetball and tennis for the entire family all at reasonable rates. Stop by or call us for a tour.

General Tennis Class Information • Registration for tennis classes is on a first-come, firstserved basis.

• Students or participants must pay the full price of an individual drill, lesson or clinic regardless of showing up late to a class or leaving early.

What Centre Court Athletic Club has to Offer…

Aerobic Studio This 2500 sq. ft. studio features wood flooring, mirrors and a state-of-the-art sound system.

Fitness Center This 2400 sq. ft. center features state-of-the-art resistance & cardiovascular equipment and a fully equipped 600 sq. ft. free weight room.

Handicap Accessibility The Park District and the CCAC are handicapped accessible and comply with A.D.A. standards. The elevator is accessible from all 3 levels and is available for public use.

Locker Rooms, Whirlpools & Saunas Club members will enjoy the clean and spacious men’s & women’s locker rooms, each with its own whirlpool and sauna.

Lounge and Snack Bar The central core of the club includes a lounge area complete with a big screen TV where members and guests may relax after a hard workout.

Kids Korner Service Kids Korner service is available to program participants who utilize the Centre Court Athletic Club. The Kids Korner, located next to the Aerobic Studio, is available Monday-Friday from 9 am - 5 pm (by appointment only).

Pro Shop The latest in tennis, equipment and accessories is available at competitive prices. A professional racket stringing & gripping service is also available.

Racquetball Courts The four racquetball courts offer hardwood floors and complete climate control for year round playing comfort.

Tennis Courts Our 10 indoor tennis courts feature the “Chevron Laykold¨ surface which offers a true bounce and minimum leg fatigue to players of every ability level. Four of the indoor courts are air-conditioned for your summertime comfort.

Refund, Cancellation & Transfer Policy: Please see page 42 for the policy of the Hanover Park Park District.

Tennis Lesson Cancellations Group lesson are subject to cancellation at the Director of Raquet Sport’s discretion. A minimum class size of 3 participants is needed for the class to run.

Court Reservations & Cancellations Members may reserve court time up to seven days in advance. Cancellation of court time must be made at least 24 hours in advance of play. Members are responsible for court fees if for any reason they wish to cancel less than 24 hours and the court cannot be sold. Members who make reservations and fail to show are responsible for the cost of the court and are charged accordingly.

Guest Policy Non-members who wish to utilize the Centre Court Athletic Club facilities will be responsible for a $10 guest fee.

Monthly Play Pass If playing a lot of tennis is high on your priority list you can’t go wrong by purchasing a Play Pass. Reservations may be made up to 48 hours in advance, initially for one-and-a-half hours of tennis. If the court is available at the end of that time, please contact the customer service desk to see if the court is still available. Non-play pass holders must pay their portion of the court time fees. A valid CCAC membership is required to purchase a play pass. The play pass is available during the following hours: Weekdays from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Our “club membership” is an all inclusive membership that covers the three main aspects of the club; tennis, fitness and racquetball. RECREATIONAL PROGRAM Centre Court Athletic Club’s Recreational Program is designed to be a fun high energy learning experience for tennis players. The emphasis for classes will be on quality instruction that will help our students improve their tennis games as well as a fun atmosphere that will let students of all ages enjoy their time on the court and look forward to the next lesson! **Make-ups for missed classes will be limited to 2 per class per session and the front desk must be notified of the make-up at least 24 hrs ahead of time. The goal of this class is simple – to learn the basics of a rally by being able to hit the ball back and forth over the net with a partner through the use of fun activities and games.

We will emphasize the development of rally skills using both forehand and backhand ground strokes, as well as introduce other tennis related skills, such as serve, return of serve and volleys.

This lesson group focuses both learning and competing on the tennis court. We look to build on the continual development of rallying skills, developing tactical and court positioning skills, as well as more familiarity with singles and doubles play. ACADEMY PROGRAM Centre Court Athletic Club’s Academy Program is for the students in our program who are ready to commit to becoming serious high quality tennis players. The program is structured to challenge students both physically and mentally and to help build and refine a strong tennis foundation on which they will succeed. In the Academy Program; the pro to student ratio is smaller allowing for better individual instruction during lessons, the amount of courts allocated to the class is greater so that there is less down time between points, and our high performance instructors have more experience, credentials, and track records of working with many successful high level tournament players. **Make-ups for missed classes will be limited to 2 per class per session and the front desk must be notified of the make-up at least 24 hrs ahead of time. Make-ups must be completed by the end of the session in which the student is enrolled. All you need is one form of identification: • a current driver’s license • a current State issued photo ID card OR a Matricula Card (also known as the Mexican CID card) to receive the discounted resident rate when you register for programs and events.

• If you live outside of the Village of Hanover Park AND Hanover Park Park District is listed on your tax bill.

6. Members of households with a delinquent outstanding balance shall not be allowed to register for Park District programs or facilities until said balance is paid in full.

Requests must be made in person. A $5 service fee will apply for most transfers. A $10 service fee will apply for Preschool, Before and After School Club and Summer Day Camp programs.

Financial assistance offers residents who experience undue hardship an opportunity to enroll their children in recreation programs.

Residents and Non Resident Rates Residents in Hanover Park have priority for limited programs. You will receive the discounted resident rate if your current drivers license, State issued photo ID card has a Hanover Park address OR if you live outside of the Village of Hanover Park AND Hanover Park Park District is listed on your tax bill.

Non-residents may register for programs for a fee that is 50% higher than the resident fee or $15 over the resident fee, whichever is the smaller amount.

Refund Policy Refunds will not be granted for class(es) missed or forgotten. All requests for refunds must be submitted in writing. Forms for refunds are available at the Park District office.

Refunds requested for a program prior to the start of the class will be assessed a $5 service fee.

•

A request for a refund after the program begins, but prior to the 2nd meeting, will also be assessed an additional prorated fee based upon the per class cost.

•

NO REFUNDS will be granted after the 2nd class with the exception of a written medical excuse with the fee based on the prorated cost per class and the normal service fee.

•

Refunds for trips will not be given unless the trip is cancelled by the Park District or a replacement is found to take the trip.

•

A $10 service fee applies for Preschool, Before and After School Club and Summer Day Camp programs.

Accessibility The Hanover Park Park District, Centre Court Athletic Club and all other facilities are accessible and comply with A.D.A. standards.

The elevator in the Community Center is accessible from all three levels and is available for public use.

Program Code of Conduct To ensure enjoyable and safe programs for all participants, the Hanover Park Park District has developed a behavior code. Facility Rentals Park District facilities are ideal for parties, receptions, or private gatherings and are available when park programs are not scheduled. The Firearms Concealed Carry Act, passed in July 2013, forbids carrying a concealed weapon into governmental buildings and parks, which includes all Hanover Park Park District facilities and parks. When you enter our facilities and parks, you will see signs posted at the entrances that are approved by the Illinois State Police, to remind all patrons of the new law.

These are available at each site, however, additional picnic tables will be made available at a non-refundable rate of $15.00 per table.

Bike Path and Trails Maintenance Policy

Mother Nature will be allowed to take her own course of action with respect to out park district bike paths and trails, located at Community Park, Ahlstrand Park, Harbor Park East-West, Nautilus Park and Ranger Park. In Illinois there is no legal duty to clear paths or trails. But if an agency voluntarily takes on the job, liability may be imposed if it is not done properly.

The Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA) recommends that we limit path maintenance to a thorough season-ending inspection and documentation of irregularities, that we fix any hazards and that we post signs conveying the message that users of the paths and trails do so at their own risk.
