THESIS MERIT AWARD This project was awarded the Thesis Merit Award from SCI_Arc in 2018 Project supported in Augmented Reality

The thesis is a venture into the idea on how autonomous objects would interact with but itself and its surroundings through selective assimilation.

My thesis’s challenge is to create an autonomous object while still be appropriate to the context. Being situated in the site of Berlin while surrounded by iconic buildings that are in themselves icons, the project samples various typologies to create an icon that is both autonomous and homogenous.

Museum of the 20th Century Kulturforum Berlin The 20th Century Museum is made up of a composition / collection / conglomerate of seperate museums, All too often when visitors visit museums that are too large, they get disorientated and lose their sense of direction. By breaking up the museum into seperate entities, the curator and user both benefit because is gives a clear begining and end to the experience.

OM1 1st Object / Museum This is the first museum that the visitor would experience upon entering the building.

Collections This museum will house mainly the art works from the 20th century. which would also include sculpture and digital art works.

Augmented Reality Unity AR for iOS / Andriod

Using game simulation software like Unity, I was able to deveolpe a augmented realioty experience using a mobile device.

The project is projected onto a surface through the camera of a mobile device. The app allows for each “chunk “ from the project to extend above creating an exploded 3D model view.

03_ Dee and Charls Wyly Theater Tectonics -Applied StudiesSpring 2016 Inst. Ramiro Diaz-Grados, Maxi Spina Group Partners - Brandon Lim, Wan-Hsuan Kung, Yi Chia Wu, Melissa Alverez, Dan Lu Located in the Arts District of downtown Dallas, Texas, the theatre has challenged the traditional conventions of a theatre building and has entirely reconfigured the form of the stage to fit the artistic ideas of the producers and pe formers. The theatre serves both as a traditional and experimental performance center for music, performance arts, and cinema.

Tectonic System and Elements

Area: 80,300 Sq.Ft. Height: 151 Ft. Length: 106 Ft. Width: 100 Ft. Floors: Ten level building, eleven with roof

The Wyly Theatre is supported by six perimeter concrete columns at the Nort h, South, and West elevations. Four of those columns incline dramatically.

Spanning 135 feet, the columns are four feet wide battered concrete with structural steel laced in it’s core. The columns are encased with a belt truss system. The bottom of the belt truss is at level four and the top of of it is at level seven. There are two floors that hang from below the belt truss and three floors that are posted up from the belt truss. Those floors had to be poured in place to design strength.

At the top of the stru ture, the roof serves as a tension element. The East side elevation is supported by a 1 foot deep shear wall with a jump form system.

The elevators ride on the wall along the exterior of the building

Kenmore Co-Living Principal - Patrick Tighe Project Manager - Albert Chavez Designer - Brandon Lim Situated in East Hollywood, Kenmore is a 3 story, 5 unit Co-Living project with 20 bedrooms. Each room comes fully furnished and have their own closet and full sized bathroom.

Modelo Master Plan

Principal - Patrick Tighe Project Manager - Kervin Lau Project Manager - Antonio Follo Designer - Brandon Lim Located on a 17 Acre site along the i-5 freeway. The site was once a landfil, will soon house an entire community of local Angelinos.

The project will include 850 residential units, 165,000 sq ft of retail / entertainment complex, 4.75 acres sports field that includes sports and recreational fields, along with a 30,000 sq ft community center that houses a gymnasium, function rooms, library, and a museum .
