This book is based on the life of a woman twice convicted of murder in California. It is believed that she was a serial killer. It is known that she committed at least three separate murders. The story unfolds with two homicide detectives assigned to a missing person investigation. They soon realized this was more than a simple missing person case. They try to determine where the missing persons are. They talk to neighbors and track down leads. Like life itself, this is not a linear course of action for the detectives, They meander through many leads and discover more information than they initially anticipated.Although the murderess was a person of privilege and had a good family, she chose a different course for her life. Her first bit of criminality began when she was caught selling from her classmates at a prestigious girls' school. Thievery seemed to be her occupation of choice. Along the way, she disrupted the lives of many innocent people. She seemed to have the ability to charm her way through life. She used people to get what she wanted. She lacked empathy and compassion for others.
