Ola, and a warm welcome to our 2026 Spain Portugal & Morocco Golf Tour.
Back by overwhelming demand, our tour is an exciting 22 day fully hosted, 5-star luxury journey through three culturally diverse countries –Spain, Portugal & Morocco. The tour takes in the best championship golf and local highlights on our journey through Madrid, Cordoba, Marbella on the Costa del Sol, the colourful Seville before heading to Portugal and the vibrant city of Lisbon, and finally on to the mystique scents of Marrakech for a Moroccan adventure.
We start in Madrid staying four nights in the heart of the city, at the 5-star Gran Melia Palacio de los Duques, an ornate 19th century palace. Here we enjoy our first taste of Spain with a Welcome Dinner and drinks served in the Grand Salon.
While in Madrid we take a guided tour of the city visiting many cultural and architectural sites, and two rounds of golf, the first being Royal La Herreria, a course located alongside the magnificent Monastery of San Lorenzo. Our second round is at Club Santander, owned by the Santander Bank and co-designed by American architect Rees Jones and none other than perhaps one of the greatest Spanish golfers of all time – Seve Ballesteros.
We depart Madrid on the 1st October by AVE Fast Train to Cordoba, for a day visit taking in the iconic Mezquita (Mosque-Cathedral). Then we rejoin the train, to the Costa del Sol, checking in to the 5-star Westin La Quinta Hotel not far from Marbella’s famous marina filled with yachts of the ‘rich and famous’ – our five nights here will go quickly!
Our time in the Costa del Sol includes three rounds of golf with the magnificent Valderrama pipped to be a favourite. Leading Continental Golf in Europe has rated Valderrama since 1989, as one of the best maintained courses and has been regularly included among the Top
Lisbon, Portugal
SUNDAY 27 SEPTEMBER 2026 – SUNDAY 18 OCTOBER 2026
10 in Europe and World Top 100. Our other rounds include golf at Finca Cortesin host of the Volvo World Match Play and 2023 Solheim Cup. Then La Hacienda our ‘hidden gem’ – a spectacular course built along the Mediterranean with Pebble Beach in mind. It has ‘jaw dropping’ views looking south to The Rock of Gibraltar and the Moroccan coastline.
On route to Seville, on the 6th October, we stop at the Tio Pepe Winery in Jerez for lunch and wine tasting before checking into one of Seville’s ‘best’ hotels, the 5-star Luxury Collection Hotel Alfonso XIII, for two nights. Our time in Seville includes a free day to explore this city famous for its flamenco culture, delicious tapas, Gothic architecture and the unique charm of its many neighbourhoods.
We then head over the Portuguese border on the 8th October, and visit the historic Roman ruins of Merida on route.
Our hotel in Lisbon is the magnificent 5-star Ritz Carlton Penha Longa Golf Resort set on the Atlantic Coast in the Sintra National Forest. The group will enjoy their five nights here to relax and unwind.
In Lisbon we have a free day to explore the city, which is rich in seafaring heritage. A visit to the ancient town of Sintra is also included, be wowed by one of the best collections of Romanticism style architecture in all of Europe!
We play three rounds of golf; Penha Longa, a Robert Trent Jones Jnr design, with the clubhouse a converted 14th century monastery. Oitavos Dunes, a stunning links challenge with Atlantic views, ranked one of the best courses in Portugal, and West Cliffs on the Costa Prata (Silver Coast), another Top 5 Portuguese course set on rolling sandy terrain between the coast and Obidos Lagoon.
For a change of pace and scenery we catch a 90-minute flight on the 13th October, from Lisbon to Morocco for five nights in the exciting city of Marrakech, a popular tourist and
rising golf destination. For our final stop on tour, we have included a free day to explore this unique city and its Medina, from our base at the new 5-star Park Hyatt Marrakech.
The Royal Marrakech Course is the first of the three Moroccan courses we play. Our second is the newly opened Akenza Golf Club host of the 2025 Moroccan Amateur Championship. Our final round on tour is Al Maaden, a wonderful desert layout designed by Kyle Phillips who is best known for his Kingsbarns course in Scotland. All three Marrakech courses are bathed in sun year round and have the Atlas Mountains with their snowcapped peaks providing fantastic backdrops.
A grand finalé dinner and farewells at the Park Hyatt. After our final breakfast on tour on 18th October we transfer back to Marrakech airport… then homeward bound. Post-stay options and tours to Casablanca or Rabat optional, (and on request).
Thank you for taking the time to read through the highlights of this amazing golf and cultural tour. This will be PaR nz Golfing Holidays’ 4th tour to Spain Portugal & Morocco and we can’t wait to get back there again. We already have significant early demand for this tour with places limited to 28 golfers. Be in quick to secure your place now!

MADRID – MARBELLA – SEVILLE – LISBON – MARRAKECH
SUNDAY 27 SEPTEMBER 2026 – SUNDAY 18 OCTOBER 2026
Day 1: 27 September 2026
Madrid, Spain
Arrive in Madrid at the Madrid-Barajas International Airport where you will be met and transferred by chauffeur service to the 5-star Gran Melia Palacio de los Duques, our first hotel, approx. 40 minutes’ drive. Our Deluxe Rooms are available for extra nights if you prefer to arrive early to explore the city.
We start our 2026 Spain Portugal & Morocco Golf Tour in the heart of the fabulous city of Madrid, staying four nights in a restored 19th century palace in which the interior designs were inspired by the works of Velázquez, a leading artist in the Spanish Golden Age of Art. In the evening, meet the group with drinks and a Welcome Dinner at the hotel, served in the Grand Salon.
2: 28 September 2026
For the first of our 11 rounds of golf on tour we play, Royal La Herreria, a course located near the south-east slopes of the Guardarrama Mountain Range, alongside the physically dominating 16th century Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial the historical residence of the King of Spain.
Royal La Herreria (only one of 18 courses in Spain to carry a Royal title) is a tree-lined, gentle undulating parkland course where the Monastery can be seen from many of the holes, so don’t forget your camera. Stunningly beautiful holes include the 7th and 10th across valleys, but the La Herreria signature hole is its 18th, called ‘The Grill’, which is one of the best finishing holes in Spain and the best defended on the course. Yes, we will have time to visit the Monastery in the village before golf.
Day 3: 29 September 2026
Madrid, Spain’s central capital, is a city of elegant boulevards, expansive manicured parks and a rich mix of baroque, neoclassical and new contemporary architecture. It’s also a city renowned for its amazing archaeological museums and art galleries filled with priceless European art and Spanish Masters.
In Madrid we take a guided tour of the Prado Museum housing Europe’s finest artworks including Picasso, Goya, El Greco and Salvador Dali. Other sights viewed around the city include the Royal Palace, the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas (Bullring), the portico-lined Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol the shopping and nightlife hub of the city, Neptunes Fountain, Retiro Park and the Real Madrid Football Stadium.
Today we play Club Santander, named after its owner, the Santander Group – one of the world’s largest banking organisations. Built as a private course for banking staff within the grounds of its headquarters, Club Santander quickly became an environmental project, to meet the bank’s sustainability goals. This reclaimed waste dump is now an ecologically friendly flora and fauna reserve.
The designers Rees Jones and Seve Ballesteros moved over five million cubic yards of dirt to turn this relatively featureless area into a majestic course with plantings of over 5,000 trees and 50,000 shrubs. For the golfer, the course is long, fairways narrow, lined with rough which is often tough to escape. Fairway bunkering, streams and lakes all add to the golfer’s challenge.
Club Santander, Madrid
Day 5: 1 October 2026
Sightseeing Cordoba and Fast Train to Costa del Sol
We depart Madrid by AVE Fast Train to Cordoba, in the southern Spanish region of Andalusia. Cordoba was an important Roman city and a major Islamic centre in the Middle Ages. The highlight of our visit to Cordoba is to view the La Mezquita, an immense ornate mosque dating from 784 A.D., featuring a columned prayer hall and older Byzantine mosaics. The mosque became a Catholic church in the 13th century and further Renaissance structures were added in the 17th century. Walk through the streets of Cordoba and its historic centre to discover some of the bars and taverns that offer a wide variety of tapas. It is worth remembering that Cordoba is universally known as the city of three cultures - Jewish, Arab and Christian. These influences are reflected in a rich, varied and healthy cuisine. A must try is Cordoban Salmorejo – a local version of a cold tomato soup with just four ingredients – tomato, garlic, oil, bread.
We re-board the AVE Fast Train and head for the Costa del Sol. Here we spend five wonderful relaxing nights beside the sea at the 5-star Westin La Quinta Hotel a short drive away from Marbella, the beach, shopping, restaurants and historic old town.
Day 6: 2 October 2026
Golf @ La Hacienda Links, Costa del Sol
The Costa del Sol is a golfer’s paradise with over 70 courses to pick from. Our course today, we chose because of its quality design and unbelievable views of The Rock of Gibraltar and Moroccan coastline only 35kms away across the Gibraltar Straight. La Hacienda Links, previously known as Alcaidesa Links, is nestled alongside the Mediterranean shoreline, it’s so close that an errant tee shot can literally land on the beach!
Unlike many parkland courses in the area, La Hacienda has an open links layout with some significant elevation changes and many holes open to the challenges from the wind. Its fairways are wide but there are extra challenges strategically negotiating the dense thicket and dune grasses. Its greens are lightning fast but are some of the biggest in Europe. The course underwent a major renovation and modernisation in 2021 by architect Kurtis Bowman, a US intern from Augusta National who took his inspiration from Pebble Beach to redesign La Hacienda.
Free day to explore Marbella
Time out today to do nothing by the pool or enjoy an extra round of golf at the La Quinta Courses on site or explore the City of Marbella – certainly a city with many attractions. Visit the ‘Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous’ Marina area, Puerto Banús featuring the Golden Mile crammed with multi-million-dollar real estate, designer boutiques, parades of luxury cars, prestigious nightclubs and super yachts.
Other options? Visit the Marbella Old Town known by the locals as Casco Antiguo. This area of the city dates back to Moorish times, it’s a neighbourhood lined with orange trees and narrow cobbled streets, brightly painted architecture and quaint town squares surrounded by vibrant cafes, bars and restaurants and of course tourist shops. You must try Pescaíto Frito, a simple yet flavourful dish of fried fish, often served with lemon.
You may also want to check out some of the city’s worldclass museums and art galleries all with incredible architecture. Don’t miss a walk along the beach promenade Avenida del Mar where there are Salvador Dali sculptures or just soak in the sun and sea.
Golf @
After a day off to re-charge, we are back playing golf at Finca Cortesin, ranked in Spain’s Top 10. The undulating course is known for having 18 beautifully crafted holes, with picturesque views over the Mediterranean Sea, the African coastline and local Estepona mountains.
The undulations of the surrounding rugged mountain ranges are reflected in the many slopes and contours found on the course’s fairways and greens. Its fairways are wide and generous which you will need if the wind blows! There are numerous signature holes on this course including the 3rd, 10th, 11th and the best the par-4 13th with a water hazard cutting the approach to the green.
Finca Cortesín, hosted the Volvo World Match Play Championship in 2009, 2011 & 2012 after it was moved from Wentworth in England. In 2023 Finca Cortesin hosted the Solheim Cup when Team Europe staged a dramatic comeback on the final day to draw the series and retain the Cup after winning in 2021.
Day 9: 5 October 2026
Golf @ Royal Valderrama, Costa del Sol
Our round of golf today will go down as a very special experience for many. Ranked #1 in Spain and Top 5 in Europe, Royal Valderrama is one of the best-known golf clubs in the world and reportedly, one of architect’s, Robert Trent Jones Snr, favourite designs. Interestingly the course only gained its ‘Royal’ title in 2014 from King Juan Carlos, just before his abdication.
Always immaculately maintained, Valderrama winds its way over gently undulating terrain, through a former forest of cork-oak trees. These wonderful old trees can seriously block your line if you stray off the fairway. Many scramble shots need to be played over the trees to the lightning-fast greens, miss the green and the sloping aprons or deep bunkers or rough can be punishing to your scorecard.
On a course of this calibre there are many memorable holes, in fact 18! But the best on the front nine is the par-5 4th hole called La Cascada, a risk and reward hole where birdies can be plentiful. On the back nine, the course opens up with fabulous views over the Mediterranean, but its closing stretch of holes 16, 17 and 18 with their amphitheatre settings are infamous and have in history created villains and heroes.
The club is a very private members club that has its own Golf Museum. It was the first European course outside the UK to host a Ryder Cup, when Europe prevailed by one shot, in 1997. Valderrama has also been the first Spanish course to host LIV Tournaments. At Valderrama we will have a private viewing of the Golf Museum and dinner in the Members Lounge. Gentlemen a jacket will be required.
Wine tasting in Jerez and travel to Seville
On route to Seville, we stop at Jerez for lunch and wine tasting at the world famous Tio Pepe Bodega. The winery, first established in 1835, is owned by the González Company and is currently managed by the fifth generation of the González family. The architecture is amazing with its Andalusian courtyards, cobble stoned streets with overhanging vines and an incredible wine cellar where some of Spain’s finest wines are aged and supplied to over 100 countries.
We arrive in Seville late afternoon, checking into one of Seville’s ‘best’ hotels, the 5-Star Hotel Alfonso XIII, for two nights. Our time in Seville includes a free day to explore this magnificent city which was an important historical and cultural centre, as a past capital of Muslim Spain, and as a centre for Spanish exploration of the New World.
Free day in Seville with a Tapas Tour early evening
What to do on my day off? Seville boasts iconic landmarks and beautiful architecture like the Alcazar, the world’s largest Gothic cathedral, the Giralda Bell Tower, Barrio de Santa Cruz or Old Town, Jewish Quarter, and the Plaza del Toro (bullring), each requiring a good amount of time to explore properly. Tickets to the Cathedral need to be purchased in advance to avoid missing out. Christopher Columbus is Seville’s most famous resident; his tomb is a major tourist attraction.
Calle Sierpes is the most famous street in Seville. The pedestrian-only road runs through Seville’s historic centre and is known for its buzz, with multiple tapas bars, restaurants, and shops each side. In the evening we join a guided foodie tour to sample the best wines and tapas in town.
Day 12: 8 October 2026
Off to Lisbon, with a stop in Merida.
From Seville, we head over the Portuguese border with a visit to the historic Roman ruins of Merida on route. Our hotel in Lisbon, where we will unwind and spend the next five nights, is the luxury 5-star Ritz Carlton Penha Longa Golf Resort located on the outskirts of the city along the Atlantic Coast, in the Sintra National Park. The hotel is a short distance to the town of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site once a summer retreat for Portuguese nobility and royalty. Sintra features wonderfully coloured palaces, villas and Moorish castles, a visit not to be missed during our stay at our hotel.
The Ritz Carlton Hotel design incorporates a 14th century monastery and chapel. Its rooms are luxuriously appointed with forest and golf course views. The property has a 27-hole championship golf course and two of its seven restaurants hold coveted Michelin stars.
Day 13: 9 October 2026
Golf @ Penha Longa, Lisbon
Our first Lisbon golf challenge, located at our hotel, is the Penha Longa Atlantic Course, designed by the famed Robert Trent Jones, Jnr. Opened in the early 1990s it is now ranked inside Europe’s Top 30 Courses and has become a must play on the Portuguese golf circuit. A wonderfully varied and challenging out and back layout that contains several demanding elevation changes with spectacular views over the Atlantic coastline and parts of the town of Sintra. A unique feature on the course is a Roman built aqueduct straddling two holes on the front nine.
Day 14: 10 October 2026
Free day to visit the city of Lisbon
A visit to Lisbon must include sampling a deliciously creamy Portuguese Tart made to a secret recipe originating from the Jerónimos Monastery in Lisbon, pre 18th century. After your visit to the bakery, you are then set to experience Lisbon’s rich history by visiting its many iconic historical sites and landmarks across Portugal’s capital.
The best way is using the iconic yellow Tram 28, itself a tourist attraction dating back to the 1930s. The tram passes through the city centre districts of Alfama Baixa, Estrela, and Graça. The trams are ideal as they can easily manoeuvre around the city’s steep and narrow cobbled streets.
Get the best views in the city from the São Jorge Castle. Climb up the Belem Tower located on the Targus waterfront, once a defence tower it’s now an antiques museum. Admire the astonishing architecture of the Jeronimos Monastery which has its own bakery. Go inside the Rua Augusta Arch up top to see statues of explorer Vasco da Gama. If you like churches, take a look Lisbon Cathedral and Carmo Convent.
Local food markets are a hub of city life, and the perfect places to get to know the tastes of Lisbon. The city has four major food markets, each with its own character and vibe. Most popular with tourists and in a central location is The Time Out Market Lisbon (Mercado da Ribeira).
Day 15: 11 October 2026
Golf @ West Cliffs, Obidos
Located on the Silver Coast of Portugal, West Cliffs was designed by Cynthia Dye, the niece of the great Pete Dye, and opened in 2017. It quickly gained a reputation as being one of the best in the country. Offering sweeping views of the Atlantic, Berlengas Islands and Óbidos Lagoon, this dramatic seaside layout, a classic links, is massive with wide open fairways, gently rolling sand dunes, very little rough, and only coastal vegetation with pine trees set well back defining each hole. This course has a beautiful natural feel and you can see the sea from every hole - which on a clear day can’t get any better with a golf club in your hand.
16: 12 October 2026
Accolades a plenty – ‘Oitavos Dunes, host to 4 Portuguese Opens was the first Portuguese Golf Course to achieve Top 100 ranking along with the first to receive Audubon Gold Certification. Located in the environmentally sensitive coastal area known as the Sintra-Cascais National Park this is a wonderful and challenging course built in a links and wooded style combination with spectacular views from every hole over the Atlantic and the Sintra Mountains. The course is very open with a series of bunkers and blown out sand areas set around dune like rolling fairways. The greens are large and undulating, many with sloped run off areas to catch errant approach shots.
Day 17: 13 October 2026
Fly to Marrakech, Morocco
An exciting day ahead and a new destination –today we are off to Marrakech in Morocco for our final five days together on tour. Our hotel is the magnificent 5-star Park Hyatt Marrakech Hotel, an oasis of luxury and one of the most elegant hotels in all of Morocco.
Marrakech, an imperial city nestled at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, is centred around the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa, or market square, set deep within the medieval red brick walled medina. Marrakech evokes so much mystery and charm. At night the city comes alive with street performers and snake charmers while in the day the maze-like alleys are packed with locals and tourists bargaining at souks (marketplaces), selling drums of brightly coloured spices, potions, traditional textiles, pottery and jewellery.
Day 18: 14 October 2026
Golf @ Royal Marrakech
Morocco is undergoing something of a sporting boom as the government invests in the development of golf facilities and attracts international golf tournaments such as LIV Golf. One of the oldest courses in the Kingdom is Royal Marrakech which opened in 1927 will be our first. The course is always beautifully manicured with over 15,000 tree plantings lining the fairways. Designed by two Frenchmen Gustave Golias and the legendary Arnaud Massy the course is steeped in history being the favourite of the late King Hassan II and where statesmen Winston Churchill, David Lloyd George and General Eisenhower played rounds at the club.
Day 19: 15 October 2026
Guided tour: the Medina and Majorelle Gardens
Marrakech has so much to explore, from the old Medina to the more modern Nouvelle Ville. We visit landmarks such as the Bahia Palace, Koutoubia Mosque, famous for its towering minaret and bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa. Of course, there is plenty of time for photography and shopping or to find a quiet café for refreshments. After lunch we visit Jardin Majorelle, a major botanical garden created by the French Orientalist artist Jacques Majorelle over almost forty years, starting in 1923. Its most famous resident during the 1980s was Yves Saint Laurent who left the garden to the city as his legacy.
Day 20: 16 October 2026
Golf @ Akenza
Akenza Golf Course is part of the latest golf residential property development just outside Marrakech. At the time of going to print the course has only just opened for play but already the reviews are coming in just how magnificent the desert setting course is. The fairways are lined with the ever-present palm trees and greens, well defended by huge bunkers. The course has included a series of lakes so water features on most holes and sets some interesting camera shots with is sparkling blue colour against the snow-capped mountain background.
Tonight we venture into the bustling city centre to enjoy dinner and a cultural show – yes belly dancing and a whole lot more!
Day 21: 17 October 2026
Golf @ Al Maaden
Playing golf on the Al Maaden golf course is like taking a walk through an open-air art museum – throughout the course there are 13 works of art – sculptures created by Moroccan and international artists. Al Maaden is the centre piece of a residential development with its own water activities, lake and beach that surrounds the perimeter of the course. It is laid out on a rather flat piece of landscape with fairways routed uniquely around sets of massive geometrical water features (holes 5,6,12,18) intended to give the golfer the feeling of playing through a Moroccan garden. Watch out on the 18th hole for the replica of the Oakmont Church Pew Bunker! Built by famous architect Kyle Phillips (Kingsbarns fame!) this is a ‘jewel of a course’ and a fitting finale to our tour.
On this evening, a grand finale dinner and farewells at the Park Hyatt.
