This site is designed to form with the terrain and not against it. It would be potentially crucial for skills development and youth entrepreneurial training.

I took and represented a section of the market space as it is meant to be a multiusage space. A part of the space can be used to sell goods and produce grown in and around Ashbury. Furthermore, A large part of the area is dedicated to benches that can be used to sit and eat for people receiving food from the community kitchen.

The semi-circular form of the Amphitheater permits direct attention to whoever is presenting. This brings opportunities for arts and culture performances, educational and cultural lectures. Furthermore, the design element promotes youth development.

I designed this portion of Muskadel to cater for local businesses and entrepreneurial skills. The inspiration for this is Philippi Village in Philippi, Cape Town, South Africa.

CONCEPT DRAWINGS

CONCEPT SKETCHES In these concept sketches, I explore seating designs around the site, as seats are an important part of enjoying the Square. Instead of accommodating a majority tourist audience, I wanted the square to have an impact on neighbouring areas such as St George’s Mall, Long Street and the neighbouring Transport Station. All which intensify in foot traffic during the summer months.
